A Yakker's Paradise with Recipes (Welcome All!!)

Shauna --
First of all, welcome to WISH!! I have been so totally self-focused the last few weeks that I have not had a chance to visit journals and meet new WISHers. I have really enjoyed reading your journal -- you have a great writing style! I am so impressed with how conscientious you have been about tough food situations. It's funny that once you learn to pay attention to what you are eating, it is so much easier to maintain control. Now, I am sure you are finding that even your splurges are well-managed and documented!
I am doing WW on line, too and absolutely LOVE online journaling throughout the day -- and it is usually the last thing I do before I go to bed. I also bought one of those little journals with the built in rubber band around it at barnes & noble (near the cash registers) and carry that in my purse, everywhere, so I can make notes during the day of what I eat, track my exercise and jot down recipes or food ideas when I come across them.
Have fun! Looking forward to sharing your journey -- you seem like you'd be a lot of fun to travel with.

Tiger - I still can't get over your plug while I was reading your journal. Great minds!! :flower:

And a great big welcome to Keenercam!! Thanks for dropping by and for all of your compliments. It's not that I notice my splurges more now, it's just that I care. Before I would consciously splurge and not really care. Now it's a whole, "Oh my goodness, my points are going to go through the roof!". The purse journal sounds like a good idea. I might have to try that because sometimes it's hard to remember everything.

I am so proud of myself. WI was this morning and I am down 4.2 lbs. for a grand total (drum roll, please) of 21.4 lbs.!!!
:Pinkbounc :cool1: :banana: :cheer2: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :cool1: :banana: :cheer2: :bounce:

This feels like such an amazing accomplishment to me and I feel great! The best part of this loss is that it truly wasn't that hard. I had my bad moments (like last week) but for the most part, eating better has been way easier than I thought. I feel so good about myself that I have made a conscientous effort to make me a healthier me. Yes, I have a loooooooonnnnnng way to go but I think I can do it and that is what is most important. :flower:

Shauna...I am SOOOOOOO proud of you. Keep up the good work!! Doin the Go Shauna dance just for you!! :cool1: :banana:

Also a BIG hi from me to Keenercam! :wave2: :wave:

Good Morning, Ms. Shauna!!!!! How are you?!?!?!? Here's to a wonderful (warm) Sunday!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Hope it's warm and not snowy where you live. :P

Just finished reading your journal and Welcome to the WISH journals! :wave:

I am trying to get to a new journal every few days or at least once a week. I really like to see what progress people are making and it helps keep me motivated to know that we are all trying to reach the same place.....Less of ourselves.

It is totally AWESOME that you are a GS leader and yet you don't have a daughter in the troop. I really admire a person's commitment to the girls when they choose to lead out of the goodness of their hearts. We need more people like you. I have been in GS for 11 years and DD17 just earned her gold and bridged to adult after 13 years of service. I lead Cadette/Senior/Studio 2B girls (DD15 plans to stay for the gold as well) and next year I will be taking on Brownies again (DD7's leader is quitting). Some days I am too active in GS, but wouldn't change it for the world.

Keep up the good work and congrats on the 4.2lbs. :banana:

Have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Hi!

Just stopping by to see how you're doing. Hope you had a great weekend.

Happy Monday!

Tiger - Hey there! It is nice and comfy here. The sun was shining and it was very spring like. Of course, I live in Northern California so the weather is almost always nice.

Welcome, welcome, welcome Lesli54!!! Thanks for dropping by. I have been diligently reading your journal for about 4 days and I'm only up to page 6. Like me, you are extremely verbose and I love how much you share! I had noticed that you talk about doing GS paperwork a lot but I didn't realize that you had a troop! How awesome that you're taking over your younger daughter's troop also. I love being a GS Leader. My girls are so much fun!!

Pearlieq - My weekend was nice thank you! Saturday was DH's birthday so we had some fun!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As I mentioned above, Saturday was DH's birthday so we went out to dinner and then to a comedy show to see Hal Sparks. Dinner was tex-mex style Mexican and was faboo and Hal Sparks was utterly hilarious!!! We had a good time and DH was happy.
Sunday I went to a Crop at a friend's house which was fun. I wasn't bad but I wasn't great either. She makes these awesome snacky things called Ham Delights which are made with brown n serve rolls sliced in half with mustard, poppy seeds, onions, ham and swiss cheese that are baked. They are faboo and so stinking addictive! I had 2 at the crop and another two at home for dinner with 2 pieces of pizza. I also chose regular Coke instead of water to drink at the crop which wasn't great but which tasted good and I had 6 baguette rounds with a cheese spread. I still stayed within my points for the day because I didn't eat breakfast or lunch or but I could have made better choices.
Anyway, it doesn't really matter because I am totally back OP this morning. I've already had my required amount of water for the day and am working on extra now. Plus, I don't think I will need my morning snack because I am just not hungry. Hopefully now that TOM is gone, my eating habits will stabilize again. :flower:
Hope you had a great day Shauna!!! You are so LUCKY!!! Ohio weather changes like every five minutes. Last week it was :sunny: /warm, cold, BRR cold, FREEZERBURN cold and then just way too darn cold for me and snowy. Hmmph. Switch you places in an instant. Anyway, sounds like you did okay. I faced my worst New lifestyle nightmare: the endless buffet. :scared1:!!!!!!!! I did alright though. I thought of you all though! :cheer2: :cheer2:
Have a great week!
Wow, I sure had a lot to catch up on! Congratulations on your latest loss. Over 20 pounds total is wonderful! You'll have to go shopping for smaller clothes soon :goodvibes .
That orange vinaigrette sounds yummy. Did you make it yourself or buy it?
Well, we all have days that are a little off. God knows I have had my share. :rolleyes1 But I will admit that they occur less frequently and it gets easier to get back OP all the time. Just keep coming back and you will do fine. :banana:
GS - Well, aside from my troops, I am also Partnership Manager (or Service Unit Director) and oversee 3 local towns, including my own. Then on top of that, I am "acting" Community Coordinator (or Town Chair) for my town until I can find someone else to fill the position. I don't mind it in the interim, but I don't have enough time to do it forever. The bad news is we lost a lot of good leaders recently, the good news is I can make some positive changes and I have excellent new leaders so hopefully soon someone will take the job. Yes, I am dedicated to GS and sometimes it takes over, but it is fun! :flower:
Glad you are reading my journal and yes, I love to write. Can you tell? ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo
How ya doin' today MISS Shauna? Is that a new clippie in your siggie? If so, congrats!!!! If not, then I've officially gone crazy. Hope you have a good day. (As soon as I find out if that's a new clippie, then we'll boogie!) Toodles!
Tiger - I haven't done a buffet yet. I'm not sure how I would do. The dessert counter is always hard for me. :earseek: I don't think it's a new clippie. At least not since Saturday. :confused3
Bengalbelle - No shopping for new clothes. I will just be able to wear all of the clothes in my closet that haven't fit for a while. So it's pseudo-new clothes!! Yippee!! :Pinkbounc The viniagrette is made by one of my co-worker's daughter at her deli. It is so good!!
Lesli - Your dedication is amazing! Go you for being so involved!! Our troop is one of only 4 in my town so we have a very small Service Unit. We also don't have any Service Unit staff members so I agreed to take over next year as Service Unit Manager. I'm already starting to wonder what I've gotten myself into. :rolleyes: For some reason, it's easy for me to get right back OP after I've had an off day. My problem is that sometimes I don't want to be OP. :p
Yesterday was a good day! I stayed OP and only went over half a point. I drank 3 bottles of water and felt good. I am trying to be especially good because I would really like to make my 25 lb. clippie this week but I'm not sure if I can do that. It would mean losing 3.6 in one week which I have done but not the week after losing 4.2. I'm still going to try to be good though because I would like that new clippie!
Today I've been pretty good so far as well. I had half of a turkey panini for lunch so that was good. Tonight's dinner will be happy mouth heaven though because DH and I are going out to our favorite steakhouse. It's this tiny place about 45 minutes away from us but we go every year for our birthdays since we are members of the Birthday Club. They have the world's best steak and Tuesday is German Potato soup night.
For dinner, I will be having:
1 lovely glass of red wine (probably a yummy Zinfandel - I love living near Wine Country!!!)
1 bowl of German Potato Soup (this is their special, secret recipe and is faboo!)
Sourdough bread to dip in my soup (It's fresh!!!!)
A small Filet Mignon
Veggies of some kind
Possibly a potato dish but I will probably avoid due to soup
1/4 a piece of Mocha Mud Pie (Birthday Club!!!)
I've only used 5 of my Flex Points this week so most of them will be going to this evening's meal. That's OK because it's going to be GOOD!!! :flower:
I am in the midst of planning a sleepover for my Brownie Girl Scout troop of 8 six to eight year old girls. I don't have kids. I haven't been to a sleepover since I was in junior high. I'm not sure I'm ready for this. :earseek:
So far, I've planned 2 crafts, camping prep activities like preparing their own food (very low key) and dishwashing plus games, songs and movie time. I'm losing sleep over this! :crazy:
Have fun, happy birthday to the birthday person and let me know if you need sleepover ideas! :goodvibes The buffet scared me, but I stuck to my plan. It always helps. Enjoy, Shauna!
Hiya Shauna. How's the sleepover plan coming? OT, but a fun game to play would be Piggley Wiggley. Have all the girls put their sleeping bags in a row. Choose one person to be it. IT goes out of the room while the girls run around and hide in someone else's sleeping bag. It comes back in and TAPS (not slaps) a sleeping bagged girl. SBG (sleeping bag girls) says "Oink Oink". It has to guess who SBG is. If guessed, SBG is IT. If not, it goes out again and it starts over.
Hope you had an ab-fab (absolutely faboo) day!!!
You can always decorate pillow cases, do each other's hair and toenails, that kind of stuff. It sounds like it will be lots of fun!
Tiger - I love that game idea! We are sooooooo playing that!!! Our b-day dinner was for both mine and DH's b-day since they are both in April. Dinner was divine!!
Bengalbelle - We are painting flowerpots and making sit-upons. I think that will be enough crafty stuff to keep them busy. I would also love to do the girly thing but some of the moms don't let their DDs wear nail polish so now go on that for now. I can't wait until they get a teensy bit older so we can go to Club Libby Lu!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dinner last night was simply faboo even though the waiter was simply awful. I ate everything I said I was going to and am very proud of myself that I chose to have a double helping of veggies instead of a potato dish with my meal. It's one of our favorite places and is always a special trip because it's so far away.

Good!! That's my favorite sleepover game! If you need anything else, PM me!! Have a great night.

P.S. What is Club Libby Lu?

Tiger - Club Libby Lu is a new experience for "tween" girls where the girls get to dress up, have their hair and makeup done and be a princess, rock star, etc. for the day. They have parties where all the girls have their "makeover" and then they take them all to the front of the store and teach them the Libby Lu dance. It is the cutest thing ever and very girly! Check out their website: Club Libby Lu

I have been good today in terms of my diet but this has been a ROUGH work day. I am the volunteer coordinator for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Sacramento and Northeastern California. Most days my job is the most fulfilling in the world. I get to work with people who are volunteering their time to make a dream come true for a sick child. Other days I just have a bunch of rotten people to deal with. Today has been one of them. I guess I'm mostly just frustrated with how flakey people are. They make a commitment and then don't show up and don't even have the good grace to make an excuse when I call them on it. Normally I am able to take it in stride but today has just been bad.

On a happy note, the sleepover planning is going well so I am feeling better about that. I also think I am going to go home and take a nap today after work which should also help turn my mood around. Happy day everyone!!
