We just got back from FW cabins (2771) and had a fantastic time! A few things I learned.. Don't trust the guy at the desk for directions to the ER at 2am. Don't be suprised if your bus stops disappears (LOL they were redoing it) and you can leave UNOPENED food in your cabin when you check out. Mousekeeping will take it home with them so you don't have to throw it out. Or do what I did, knocked on doors to try and find someone who wanted it LOL.

I am glad we picked the cabins to stay in. They worked out great for our family.

We're staying in the cabins in less than three weeks. Glad you liked them.

Do you remember if it had a DVD or VCR in the living room?

Did you rent a golf cart?

How was mouskeeeping?

Sorry so many questions but you don't see a lot about the cabins

Ditto on the questions! We are going in 5 more days! I was wondering if I need to bring some VHS for the kiddos too, since we will have the DVD player on the plane.

And we have a golf cart reserved. Looking forward to tooling around the campground in it. Would love to hear your experience with or without one.

And more info on the disappearing bus stop please! :)

Thanks!

We loved the cabins!!!:thumbsup2
I'll try to answer your questions -

The TV in the family room has DVD and VCR...I think the one in the bedroom is just a VCR.

Mousekeeping was fine...no complaints.

We rented a golf cart for one day which was loads of fun but not necessary. We were trying to save $$ so that is one corner we could cut.

One tip - I don't know if you have younger kids or what - but I recommend bringing your own blow dryer (if you need one). The one that is there is in the bedroom right by the bunk beds! :scared1: My kids slept much later than I did and I dried my hair in the bathroom! Sounds silly, but I was thankful I took my own dryer!

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have!

lest see.. we didn't rent a golf cart. If we had we would have been able to sightsee more around FW. We had a cabin right near the bus stop (2771) and really had no wait for a bus longer than 10 minutes, but usually only 5 minutes. I guess the only time we had wished for the cart was at night (1am) when we were coming back from the parks. Walking from the boat dock to the bus stop was tiring lol. Honestly it was not bad. I rented a wheel chair in the parks and while I was sore walking to the stop, I was able to do it.

As for the disappearing bus stop. We went to bed on Sunday around 1am and when we went to leave around 3pm Monday the bus stop was taken down. I guess they are redoing them. They moved the benches across the street to sit and wait. :confused3

VCR in the bedroom, dvd.vcr in living room. Mousekeeping was good.

I can make a suggestion if you are going with kids. We figured we would rent a stroller in the parks for dd5 if needed. That worked out great. Problem was her being so tired after we returned the stroller to stand and wait in line for the boat/bus etc. We went to Walmart and bought a $15 umbrella stroller on Friday and used that. We were able to check it at the stroller/wheel chair rental and get it back when it was time to leave. When we checked out on Wednesday we left it with a family with a dd around the same age. Hopefully it worked out as well for them.

I was wondering if you had anyone use the murphy bed?

Could someone sleep on the murphy bed and the couch? were the 2 touching each other close?
Just wondering if my dd slept on the mb and my ds on the couch would they practicly be on top of each other?

we are staying in a cabin 1st timers :woohoo: July

Thanks so much for the heads up on the dryer in the bedroom!!! That does not work for me. Why the bedroom??? Dryers are used in the bath! I will bring mine now. Any other odd placement of things?

And thanks for the tip about the stroller. Is it a long walk to the boat dock from the MK? In fact, I have no idea where the boat docks are at all or how it all works from the park side (I have seen a map of where the marina is at the campground, but nothing about the arrival spot in MK). Do you end up near the front gate or is it a hike to the boat? Would that make it easier to take a bus? We didn't mind the bus stop when we stayed at CSR last fall. It wasn't very far from the front gate.

And how often do the boats go? Do they start really early? What about the boats to the WL and CR? Do they start out early? And is it a pain to go to CR & then monorail to Poly or GF? We have ADRs at both.

Thanks for all of the info!!

We're just back from a week in a cabin, and we LOVED it. I think it is our new favourite place to stay at WDW.

I slept on the Murphy bed and it was pretty close to the couch when it was pulled down.

Someone asked about the docks coming out of MK: The boat docks are right in front of the Magic Kingdom. When you walk out of MK, you will see the ramps up to the monorail on your right, and the buses off to your left, and the boat docks are straight ahead. Just read the overhead signs and you'll find the Fort Wilderness one.

We had a golf cart for the full stay and really enjoyed having it. It just made getting around so much easier. I was impressed by how much there was to do in the campground - the kids would have been more than happy if we'd never gone near the parks, I think.

DH & I slept on the Murphy bed together without a problem. One night I slept with dd (she passed out before 8pm lol) and DH slept on the couch. There was enough room to walk sideways past the couch. If your kids complain about being near each other it might be an issue. Maybe try making a wall of pillows between them LOL.

I think the boats run ever 10/15 minutes. We never waited long except at night at park closing. That was just because of the number of people waiting. One night we had ADR at GF @7pm. We took boat to TTC then monorail to GF. I know boats & buses run early but I can't remember what time.

You can take the other boat (the one on the right) to WL & CR, and then the monrail. We did that to get to Epcot one afternoon.

Of course I have a 5yo who loved the monorail. She got sick at MGM and begged to take the monorail back to FW. We took boat from MGM to Epcot, monorail from Epcot to MK, then boat to FW, then bus to the cabin. It took FOREVER LOL but she relaxed and we got to spend time together just enjoying being there. That migth have been one of the best times of the trip.

Thanks for the tips, and your review. We are headed there in June for our first time in the cabins. Soooo excited. Oh...and the kids have no idea!

So, how was the weather while you were just there? Were the mosquitos bad?

Is there a screen door on the cabin? I was wondering if we could be inside and let the kids run around with the door open.

How private is it around your cabin? Are you to yourself while eating outside or see other cabin-dwellers?

Is it well lit returning at night or do you need a flashlight?

Thanks for answering so many questions already! Its a great help.

I wouldn't say the mosquitos were bad - there were a few around as I recall but I didn't get bitten. The weather was close to perfect - warm but not terribly hot. We had one day where it poured down rain in the morning but was sunny again in the afternoon. We swam three days at the pool and spent a day at Typhoon Lagoon too.

There is no screen door, but you could prop the door open I would think.

There seems to be more than one lay-out for the cabins. Ours had a deck with a small table and two chairs, then steps down to a little patio with the barbecue and picnic table. While you could see the cabin next door from both seating areas, there were bushes and trees in between so it felt reasonably private. We did enjoy being able to eat outside or just sit and read or talk.

It was well-lit on our loop and not at all a problem walking in at night.

We really enjoyed our stay, it was quite a different experience from staying in one of the hotels. Here's what we really liked:
-it's very relaxing and peaceful being able to walk through the grounds and see rabbits and deer and enjoy the natural setting
-having a full kitchen made it easy for us to cook nutritous meals and save a little money
-there was plenty of room both indoors and outdoors for the kids to play and for the adults to relax - no need to sit on the bed to watch TV.
- Trail's End was excellent and very reasonably priced
-lots of things to do and enjoy
-people were so friendly! and helpful! more so than I've experienced staying in the hotels

We really didn't see many neighbors at all. We did see the people across the street check in & out and walked with 2 families to the bus stop & pool but I think that was it.

We had fantastic weather. It rained the first night (4/18) but that was around fireworks so it wasn't bad. It was in the low to mid 80s. We were at Typhoon Lagoon and it was actually chilly when you stepped out of the water in the morning. It improved as the day went on. We wore long pants & a light jacket 2 nights for EMHs.

We had no problem with any bugs. My dd has a knack for finding them so if they were around we would have heard about it! LOL:rotfl:
