A Wilderness Lodge TR! With PICS! (UPDATED 1/27)

Hello! I'm Lauren from Louisiana, & this is my first attempt at a TR! Please bear with me guys! I really wanted to try one, so we will see how it goes!

Okay, I did not have much of a PTR so I will give you a little rundown on "us." Tyler & I were I guess what you could call "high school sweethearts." We started "dating" in the 8th grade, had a couple break ups, but have been together ever since. He is my best friend & puts up for my love of Disney! God love 'em! Here are a couple pics of us. In this report I will be talking about our most recent trip we took this month in January. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge (my personal fav!) This was my 11th trip to the World and Tyler's 2nd.

Oh yeah, I change my hair A LOT. I'm kinda obsessed, so I promise it is me in all three pictures! I have gone from having long, brown hair to short, blonde!

When I was originally thinking about taking this trip I knew I wanted to go in January. We got a very nice month off from school and weren't going back until January 20th so I had a lot of dates to play with. I have seen the Christmas decorations when I went for Thanksgiving fall of '07, but my DBF never had so I knew I wanted to go a little earlier in the month to catch some of those while they were still up. Especially the castle and the icicle effect!

I was keeping an eye on airfare everyday when I finally decided what my dates were. I was kind of getting discouraged when I saw what it would probably end up being, but then one afternoon in November I got on and it had drastically dropped! I got a really good deal flying out of Jackson, Mississippi on January 4th. We flew Southwest and our total airfare for the TWO of us was $372.00. We are about 3 and a half hours from Jackson so it was no biggy!

So the morning of the 4th we got an early start on the road to catch our 12:30 P.M. flight out of JAN to MCO. This was the day I had been counting down for. I am a bit annoying getting ready for Disney trips and rub it in everyone's faces! I will say this being my 11th trip, it was really weird my mom not being there with me. BUT it was mine and Tyler's trip and I knew it would be special!

Everything went smoothly at MCO and before we knew it we were standing face to face with...

DME!!!

We made a quick stop at the Poly, Grand, and then it was our turn at the Wilderness Lodge! (More pics of the Lodge to come in a later post but here is one!) My camera takes so-so pictures!

I go to check-in and a very, very nice girl named, uhh, I wish I could remember helped us get set! I was expecting to hear her confirm my room to be standard "yadie yada ya" when she so magically says, "We have upgraded your room to a water view, oh & you can see the castle." At that point, one VERY happy little girl from Louisiana was on cloud 9! I turned to DBF to say, "Can you believe it???" He just didn't quite get it! Although, once we got to the room he understood a little better, or maybe it was because I screamed at him (politely) in the elevator how special it was to be ugraded like that. This was the view from our room! 6034!

Maybe I do have good luck being upgraded! Summer of '07 me, mom, her best friend, & her daughter were upgraded to club level at the beach club! humm? that is OK with me

Since I am an annual pass holder we got a really good deal at the Lodge & that is the only reason we got to stay there! hehe

After spending about half an hour soaking up our view from the room we headed to MGM (sorry, I am one of those people who still call it that) to catch the last night of The Osborne Lights! Here is a pic of the WL bus stop!

Soon after picking up people at Fort Wilderness we were on our way to MGM! I was pleased to see the Christmas tree still up when we got off the bus. I was sad the WL didn't have theirs up, but my room upgrade made up for that real fast! Here is a pic of the MGM tree!

The lights were amazing as always! I wish a had a video of Tyler's face when they came on for the first time It was priceless! I do have short video of the lights! If you have never seen them, you should watch it! It is nothing like being there, of course!


Now it was time to head to MK! My heart just melts when I walk into this park! We got there about 20 minutes before Spectro started It was packed, but I knew it would be. I mean what idiots walk into MK right before the parade... we did. I really, really, really wanted to see Wishes that night though & do EMH!

So we slithered our way to Casey's Corner. I saw a couple getting up from one of the tables outside while were standing in line, and I darted to get it. DBF got our food, which was yummy! I love corn dogs and have had their hot dogs before and I have to say I personally like the mini corn dogs better! The food was fresh, hot and overall really good. We got to catch some of the parade while eating!

After the parade I asked DBF if we could move close to the castle to watch Wishes. He was fine with that. Last time he watched Wishes it was from the Christmas store over in Liberty Square, he really didn't get "it." I knew he had to see it from the front of the castle this time. We had a great view!

After Wishes, the park was wall to wall. We picked a bench and sat to people watch while the park cleared out some. Oh the things you will see.. A little after 9 we got up to ride some rides! It had cleared out a lot and we only waited about 20 minutes for anything.
We got to ride SM, Buzz, tea cups, Haunted Mansion, BTM, SpM (it was supposed to be closed!! score!) Then we headed for the boat back to the Lodge! We were TIRED!

DBF got into the picture on accident, but this is Main Street when we were leaving EMH.

Yes the WL looks nice and I'd love to stay there. But we are leaning more towards staying at the Dolphin--my DW can get a Teacher discount..and it's AMAZINGLY cheap too.

Can't wait to read more of your TR..btw I love the pics of MK (my favorite park)

We have stayed at the Dolphin, too! Mom got the teacher discount when we went as well! It is beautiful and in, I think, the most perfect location! I love being in the middle of MGM & Epcot. Oh, & plus you get to use the heavenly beds! They are awesome!

I love Sheraton Hotels---We've stayed at them before. And I'm a Starwood Preferred Guest. What sold me was the HUGE discount and the fact it's withing walking distance of Epcot. What about MGM? How far is it from there?. Just wondering!!!

I know, we should have! Everytime we would go through the lobby I would do a quick scan lookin' for ya!
