A Wigdout trip report, DISmeets, Flashing Jelly Rings and Manpris, Oh MY!

I cannot believe I am saying this, but those squirrels are pretty cute. My first year I taught was in a room a lot like the one you are in, and I have done an open classroom with a third/fourth for two years too. I loved it, but you have to have the right people IMO.
Without the right people sharing the space it doesn't work at all...
The pair that I'm with have been together for 15 years, I'm not making any waves! Well I"m trying not to.....

Those little babies are too sweet. You are so kind for caring for them. I know they will remember their foster parents when they are out in the wild again! :)
They will only wonder why no one is picking them up and shoving something into their mouth.....

You are stronger than I am. I don't think I would do so well in that open classroom with other people teaching and the noise of my own and those.
I would not want someone looking over my shoulder all the time....let me close the door and teach!

Do you guys spend your first weeks testing? We haven't even taught anything yet, because we've been testing. We haven't been able to get into our 'groove' yet.
One of our reading coaches came in and wanted me to help "progress monitor" some kids in reading. She is one of two coaches at our school that do this activity. I am the only math specialist and I am responsible for screening all the kids and entering data. I also have kids in the math lab for 3 hours a day and they have no teaching responsibilities. I am thinking they should help me with some math screening!

The dogs are fed, the squirrels are fed.....I need to be fed! :rotfl2:

Mary Ellen, I was just checking out your ticker! Almost 2 weeks and you are in the best place in the world! How exciting is that?????

I am totally excited to be going. I am a bit apprehensive about leaving my 9th and 11th grader home alone. There are plenty of people checking in and them and the 11th grader can't drive solo yet so all the car keys will be confiscated and kept at a neighbor's. Plus, there is no Saturday night involved so all the kids should be doing is going to school and soccer practice. Still... a tad nervous. That's the only thing putting a damper on the trip. When I planned it I thought I would be ready for the kids to stay home alone. Now I'm getting cold feet.

Thanks for reading!

Anytime, I'll even let you play teacher!:cutie:

If she likes it in your classroom than she can come to mine afterwards!!!! LOL!!!!

Ewww..to loads of laundry!!! Laundry and dishes the two chores that are the hardest for me to do in our house!

In heaven, the words 'progress monitoring' will not exist!

Good luck in getting a Reading Specialist to help you do Math testing.

Ooooh, there's another word that won't be in heaven - testing!
I love the thought of heaven. :goodvibes

I'll trade you dishes if you'll come and dust for me. I find washing dishes an enjoyable chore, but I despise dusting.

I think I would be facing the same reality. When you come back remind me to tell you the story of leaving teens home.....

How funny Jen, I don't mind the laundry at all, especially if someone will help with putting it away. The dishes, not horrible either, I'm not a fan of cleaning the bathroom!

Progress monitoring = dirty words in my book!

I can already tell you that won't happen, he will do his own work then have to spend his plan time doing theirs....

Happy thought, no testing in heaven!:goodvibes

I've been lurking for a bit and took the leap through your index...but I like to read all the banter in between too...:goodvibes

Beach Club-gorgeous
Shower Cap on Splash-great idea
Beaches and Cream-yummy
Bad Food at Grand Floridian Cafe-very sad
Mad Hatter-love, love, love him...

Squirrels-hmm...thinking on that...those must be wholesome Kansas squirrels-not the hardened East Coast squirrels we get...:lmao:

Ok Subbing on...better late than never...

BTW-you are so cute...I wish my second grade teacher was like you...she wasn't...I still have nightmares...

Awww I love it!!!

Actually bathrooms and dusting are two chores I don't mind at all...we should just make a rotation and visit each other's houses LOL :rotfl:
I wish we were all neighbors!
Can I say I just wish I looked so put together when I clean MY house!! :rotfl: Good grief.

I HATE laundry. TWO BOYS will do that to you... That and the bathrooms...
When I clean it's baggy t-shirt and pajama pants.... June Cleaver doesn't live at my house.
Baylor has terrible aim, and that's all I'm saying.....
:rolleyes1

We think Beach Club is awesome, I had no shame with the shower cap, very yucky food at Citricos, and I totally agree with you about the Mad Hatter!

Squirrels-hmm...thinking on that...those must be wholesome Kansas squirrels-not the hardened East Coast squirrels we get...:lmao:
Not so wholesome, very cute but they are getting wilder by the day! I think they are going to adjust to their new digs quite well.

Ok Subbing on...better late than never...
I'm very glad you are here, about to finish this one up but think a pre-trippie for December is in store very soon! I'll be begging for advice!

BTW-you are so cute...I wish my second grade teacher was like you...she wasn't...I still have nightmares...
Awww, thanks! I ran into one of my students today while shopping and he looked like he saw Mrs. Crabapple.... No smile or hug for me!

Don't let him read this post, WigD or he will be scarred for life :rotfl:...

The squirrels are "cute" okay, I admit it. But when I read these posts the past few days, I kept thinking about the Phinneas and Ferb episode when Candace gets a squirrel dropped down her pants and literally sings a rap song with some rappers called "squirrel in my pants"....

Okay, Shocker, betcha can't find a picture of THAT... No wait, he will, nevermind....

We were laying on the floor in the kitchen letting them scamper about a bit today and that's exactly what Marc was trying to avoid. They were crawling all over him!

Nevermind is right.....

How funny......:rotfl2:
I am impressed ...:rotfl:

Well done! ;)

It is actually a pretty catchy tune!!! :rotfl2:
Very catchy tune, in fact it's stuck in my head, I wonder what I'll dream about tonight?;)

The good, the bad and the ugly!:sad2:

A Beautiful Beginning....
The night before we bid farewell to Fantasia Garden mini golf to head back for an early night to bed....

We had an early morning ADR for Crystal Palace, getting into the park before it opens is always quite magical. We had plans to meet Jackie and family but they had sleepy kids so did not make the ADR. I broke the news to Baylor and he was a little miffed but we were at Disney so he was able to bounce back and get on with his day.

I snapped a picture of Crystal Palace in our empty park....

137.jpg

We still had time before checking in so I walked around and admired the statues in front of the castle. I had never taken the time to look them over. It was blissful......

I think I might have been listing to the right when I took these pictures!

Must have straightened up for this one.

Adventureland was quite empty.

Sleepy Hollow was empty too....

139.jpg

I glanced at my watch and it was getting close to the time to get checked in for breakfast so we headed over to the Crystal Palace.

138.jpg

It was time for eating "with character" and we were hungry!

Up Next: The Bad......rope drop at the castle?

That first Crystal Palace picture is awesome!

I always think the castle is leaning in almost every picture - yours, mine, and others, so it must really lean to some degree.

The statues go unnoticed by many. The flowers behind them are so pretty. They put up special statues for Halloween, so I'll be happy to be seeing those soon!

What are you doing up in the middle of the night, by the way? Just staying up all night since you don't have school today? :)

I bet the squirrels were cute playing around in the kitchen.
