A week with inlaws - will there still be Magic??? 5/14 Reply more photos added!

Great TR, I can't wait for more!!!

It sucks that your SIL and BIL are a bit narcosisstic (SP?) but at least you have a nice trip, all expenses paid..by someone else!! :thumbsup2

Just do your thing and don't worry about meeting up with them.. if SIL thinks she can just make random decisions for the group when you seem like you have a good planning process, I would just let her do her own thing.

My SIL uses my MIL as a babysitter ALL THE TIME too..we went on vacation with them last year.. it wasn't much fun at all. Hope you can enjoy the rest of your trip!

We've actually been back since Saturday night, but I like to write as though I'm still there. It helps me through the grieving process! :rotfl2:

Friday, May 9th - Blizzard Beach

Well, we went to bed the night before and decided to pack our suits and we'd head to MK in the morning, and then on to BB before our dinner at Hoop Dee Doo at 5:00, but when we woke up today DH thought it would be easier to handle Disney transportation if we go to BB first and then on to MK if we choose.

But everyone liked the idea of taking our time getting ready since BB doesn't open until 10:00. So we arrived right at park opening, grabbed lockers right up front, and off we went to grab a shady spot in Tykes Peak (which we wouldn't come back to all day!!!).

First we let the kids go down the little slide in Tykes Peak....

Then off we go to hit some of the bigger slides. We didn't even get to all of them and we stayed until 3:30! But both kids were able to ride 2 of the slides with mats in the Purple slopes, and then we went on the family raft - that was a great family ride! Of course MIL got to be *SURPRISE* babysitter again! At some point during the course of the day, DH convinced me to go on Summitt Plummett - and my butt is STILL sore today! I swear I felt like I was free falling, couldn't catch my breath until I got to the bottom! But it was a lot of fun, even with all the complaining I did going up the 150 steps to get there!!!!

Great counter service place for lunch, too!

OK, one question. Why would anyone in their right mind choose to wear a bikini, let alone a STRING bikini, to a water park???? :confused3 It boggles the mind! But then, a water park is a great place to people watch and constantly begs the quesion.... Don't they own a mirror??? :rotfl2: Now I'm no bathing beauty by any means, but I dress "appropriately." Sorry, didn't mean to go off on a tangent, but it was very funny at times!

I finally got the troops rounded up around 3:00 to start getting ready to leave. By 3:30 we were cleaned up, and changed into our matching t-shirts for dinner. After 6 days at Disney, the makeup was tossed aside, and we were all lucky that we remembered deodorant for the night! :rotfl2:

We arrived at Fort Wilderness shortly after 4pm for our 5pm ADR for Hoop Dee Doo Review. Let's just say that this was a wonderful diversion!!!! Fun, fun, fun! And FIL even got in on the action!

Even though they didn't "get it" the kids had a blast whoopin and hollerin!

Great night! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it - this was our "gift" to my inlaws for taking us on the trip. HDDR was the only thing they talked about from their last trip to WDW 20+ years ago so we thought it would be a fun night for them.

But a week with inlaws? I told our server about it, joking, which led to ME being served a pitcher with a STRAW in it - compliments of our server Dallas who understands inlaws!!!

Well, we leave SAturday and that's another story. More to come....

Back with more once my photopass cd arrives - there are so many more FUN photos on there!!!!!

And finally, the long awaited photo of SIL with her everyday look on her face.....

:rotfl:

:worship: You certainly deserve a make up trip after putting up with your SIL all week. You are a lot stronger then I am...I probably would have snapped within the first hour

Wow! Sounds like quite the trip!:rotfl:
Its good you have AP because you really need to go back without SIL!

Your DD is so cute!
She has such a big smile in so many pictures. :goodvibes
She looks great in her Belle dress!
Sounds like a nice princess lunch and a sweet meeting with Sleeping Beauty!

Lots of great photos! Love the spectromagic and garden festival ones!

It's like you are writing about my in-laws!

Great TR and your DD is so cute!!!

I love your TR, karajeboo. It reminds me of why I can't go to WDW with my family. Three years ago I went with a non-family member (can't say friend anymore) who was like your SIL to the TENTH POWER. I'm talking about scheming, rude, and MEAN.:scared1: Family members are the same way. Always complaining, dragging their feet, wanting to sleep in late and then getting mad at you because you don't want to sleep in with them. They don't ever have any money to go but tag along and expect you to pay their way instead of staying their butts home.

I have at least one grown family member who doesn't want to work a real job to get real money and quits her job every six months for another one, but wants to burden me with the expenses for coming along to Disney. I want to take my parents to the WL for their anniversary someday but can't because Disney only allows four in the room and since this freeloading family member has a child, it puts us over the limit. She won't save up money to get another room (or help me with another room), or get a real full-time job with benefits and a good salary but my parents insist she comes along because her 3 year old loves WDW and are not going to take the baby if the mother doesn't come along.:confused3 So needless to say, even if we have the money for one room at a Disney resort for three people, we can never go as three people. I feel my parents deserve to stay at the WL but will not do so because of the nightly rate. But I have no problem saving up all year to do so. But I'm not going to spend over $4000 for two rooms for a freeloader who isn't going to pay me back when I could spend half that on one room. So that's why I have to enjoy the beauty of WL alone or with one other person.

Anyway, enough about me. I said all that to say that I truly understand how a pain in the butt family can be on a trip to WDW.

I'm so sorry to hear about Freda (the freeloader!!!). I can truly understand. When we decided to treat the inlaws to HDDR, I made the ADR at the 180 day mark and charged to my ccard. I got a check from SIL 2 weeks before we left!!! They cry poor all the time but then just bought all new furniture and multiple flat screen TVs for their new house. I just don't understand priorities. Especially when it comes to family. She was totally AGAINST the idea of paying for HDDR for her parents, and even told my DH "No way - THEY are paying for this trip." Meaning her parents. How can someone be so selfish?? Oh, don't get me going again....... It's hard for me to stop this train once it gets rolling! :rotfl2:

Kara - No matter how many times I see that pic of your SIL - it still cracks me up!:lmao:

Reading your trip report is making me a little nervous for my own trip with family in Nov. Thank god we'll only be together for three nights; but honestly my sister is nothing like your SIL - she's been very agreeable with my planning. Let's hope it stays this way!:thumbsup2

I'm enjoying reading your trip report. Your stories of your SIL are the exact reason why I would never travel with mine. She's asked a couple of times for us to let her know when we are going away, but I would go crazy with her after the first day.

I agree with the person that said you deserve a make-up trip :thumbsup2

Kara- HAHA too funny. I would need that pitcher with my in laws too. I do agree w/ one of the above posters you do need a make up trip. LOL
Yeah for you on season passes. I am also glad to hear you liked Le Cellier.

:) Enjoying your trip report. We are having a "magical gathering" in Oct. and have traveled as a group before. We have agreed before our departure those things that we will do as a group (ADRs, etc.) and the rest of the time we are all on our own. We also agree that if anyone changes their mind, there will be no hard feelings. It has always worked out for us. I am sorry there were some "bumps" in your visit. It really puts a damper on everyone's vacation if you have a selfish person in your group. Glad you were able to upgrade to an AP so you can go with your immediate family only! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing. How the heck did Jessica let him go.

Thanks for reminding me why I should not go on vacation with my in-laws!!!
:lmao:

We are heading to WDW in Nov with DH's family, parents BIL and his family. Should be an experience that we will never forget :rolleyes1 I already told DH that the two of us are spending alot of time on our own so we can actually enjoy ourselves! :thumbsup2

All I can say is just promise yourself you WILL go off and do things on your own! Don't worry about what anyone else is doing, just do your own thing. Our problem was that we DID worry about everyone else, and in return they didn't give a flip about anyone but themselves. It still stings, and it's been three months!

He's actually fairly short! I didn't expect that!

Wish someone had reminded me!!!!! :rotfl2:
