A week in February 2018

WDW vet here looking to take my family of 5 (wife and I, 3 kids 13,8, and 6) to DLR for the first time in Feb 18. Initial plans are for 2/10-2/17. My big question is do I home base at DL for the 4 days we will spend there or check in to another hotel to explore the rest of Southern California. Looking into possibly doing UH, San Diego, and taking other suggestions. Coming from the east coast I don't know when we would get back to the area so we will prob pack as much as we can into the trip. We've done Orlando at least once the last 5 years and will be buying into DVC in early 2018 so most of our trips will be back to WDW. I would be happy just spending as much time as DLR,but I want my children to see as much as possible. Thanks.

If you want to do San Diego then price flying into LAX, SNA (for DLR) or BUR (for USH) and out of San Diego or vice versa. I wouldn't stay in Anaheim to do San Diego unless you want just a day trip. If you want to do more than USH then at least 1 night in LA makes sense. You'll be there on Friday and Saturday of a major holiday weekend, so I would not attempt a road trip on either of those days.
