Hi all

Does anyone have experience of a two-week holiday where you have stayed one week on Disney property and one on I-Drive?

As we will not be driving on our next trip, I was wondering how easy this would be to arrange. If booking a package, would we be charged extra for this, or, if each accommodation was priced the same, would it just work out as the equivalent of a two-week stay in one place?
thanks in advance.

Hi there

Don't know how much help ths is but I have often split up my stay and plan to spend 6 nights on I-Drive and 8 at Disney next time I go (this summer).

I book all the elements separately over the web and find it cheaper this way. For the flights direct from Glasgow, two weeks car hire, 2 weeks accommodation including that at Disney for about £750 each adult - I think that's quite reasonable.

No you shouldn't be charged extra for the hotel packages. The only extra expense you should incur would be a taxi fare from WDW to I-Drive. This shouldn't be more than about $30. Depending on how much luggage you have you may need to specify a larger taxi (like a 7/8 seater van) but even then it shouldn't make a massive difference to the cost. If it's as a package, do remind the agent that you'd need pickup going to the airport from a different location than they dropped you. I know that should be evident, but I'd make double sure on that point as it may slip past them.

I would agree with Nick, look into breaking the package up, you could well find it's cheaper to do it yourself. I find that particularly with a group of 4 it often works out cheaper to book hotel rooms direct as the American companies charge for the room and our tour operators often seem to charge by the person.

Thanks for the suggestions- I'll definitely do some more investigation on the non-package option!

Hi, we booked with Virgin & stayed 1 week on I drive
& 1 week disney all stars. We didnt drive & we had no trouble the week on i drive we went to universal, seaworld & discovery cove, the hotel had a bus that could take you or you can take a taxi (about $6 to universal) the 2nd week at Disney all stars we used there free transportation & did all WDW parks. i found the all stars to be no more expensive than the i drive hotels. We asked for transfers to & from the airport, took a taxi to the all stars from i-drive. We actualy did 4 different places (i-drive then all stars, then Disney cruise, then port orleons) and it all went very smoothly, i was worried the itenery would get messed up, but no problems, would deff do again!

Just my 2 cents but last year we did a week on Disney property and then a week at Universal if you stay on their property you get unlimited front of line access to both universal parks this is a really good perk so if you're splitting your holiday and are intending to spend some time at Universal then this might be a good opton for you.

Hi

I always split my stay between a multitude of properties ! It works out really well , although I can imagine it would be harder without a car!

As you can see from my signature Ive been all over the place!

This October we are doing the following

5 nights Boardwalk
2 nights Portofino Bay
4 nights Grand Floridian
3 night Disney Wonder Cruise
5 nights Beach Club
2 nights Hard Rock Hotel

Each hotel is a dfferent scene and a different view...last Oct we did 7 hotels and if you count the Gatwick hotel at the start thats 8 !! ....and its just me and my two boys aged 5 and 8.

We love the different resorts and we make the most of the facilities and also make our park visits and PS bookings around the area we are staying in!

If you travel light and keep spending under control ...its a blast !!

Thoughrally recommend it !
