A Wedding, a Disneymoon, and drama included free of charge! A Dec 09 TR* UPDATE 8/17!

Love the pictures, :cool1: what a beautiful day you had! My nephew just got married and they got married outside on the beach. Girls in t length dresses and flip flops, with guys in short sleeve shirts and shorts with flip flops. Our friend's three year old daughter was supposed to leave for Disney with Make a Wish, but had to postpone it because she got placed back in the hospital :sad1:. So they are planning for May.

We had a beautiful day! It was about 80, the humidity was pretty high, but not unbearable. Hopefully your friends daughter recovers and is able to take her wish trip, it will be the thrill of a lifetime for the whole family! :goodvibes

Great update and your dress is beautiful! Glad the zipper situation got fixed - and that is too funny about you wearing a thong!!! Waiting to hear what other drama comes about - hoping it settles down before too much more of your trip!

Loving your report! I'm on pins and needles with all the drama. Sounds like the actual ceremony was perfect. I love that the workers cheered for you. What a great experience.

Thank you! I about lost it with the zipper, but decided I wouldnt let it ruin the day, and it didnt. We just made sure not to take pics of the back of my dress since there were some gaps from the saftey pins. It could have been much worse though!

Thank you! The ceremony was very nice. We did have more drama then I anticipated in the beginning of the trip, but with family along, you can never expect things to go perfect. I think you know what I mean! :lmao:

Hey i'm joining in! You guys got married on my birthday! I thought that was cool. Sorry you had so much drama so far! Can't wait to read more!

Welcome, and thanks for joining! It was my brother-in-laws (the one that did not go with us) birthday as well! Ugh to the drama! :sad2:

After the ceremony was over and all the pictures had been taken, we decided to head out for lunch. I was waiting for a fight to eruput between the families. BUT we all came to an agreement that Smoky Bones BBQ sounded good! We went back to change at my parents hotel (shudder), then headed out to eat.

I was pretty concerned that since the restaurant was pretty dead, the food would not be good. But I was pleasently surprised! We all ordered different things, but I know I had a baked potato topped with pulled pork and cheese. It was one of the best things I have ever had! I think my mom, DMIL, DH's aunt, and maybe one other person ordered this and we all agreed that it was great!

After lunch some of DH's family were heading back to GA. We hugged and said our goodbye's to them.

Here is where there was slight drama, but probably because I took offense to something that wasn't meant to be hurtful. If you remember we had spent all last night with DH family. Well we had planned a long time ago that we were spending some time tomorrow with my parents at DTD for a few hours. DH family knew this and were invited as well. Here is their comment after reminding everyone of said invitation. "Well you just got married and we dont want to intrude. You need to go spend some time on your honeymoon now." So are you trying to say we should not spend time with my family tomorrow since we are doing it after the wedding, but it was perfectly ok for you all to crash our first night? I was slightly miffed, but let it go.

We all said our goodbyes and my mom and dad drove us back to the resort so they would have an idea of where to go tomorrow when they came to DTD. DH went to our room and crashed for about an hour. Finally , we got up and got around. We had plans!

Here I am all ready for the night!
DSC00570.jpg

Where do you think we headed?

DSC00572.jpg

So pretty! This was the only time we got to see the wreaths the whole time we were there!

We walked in and were in awe. Amazed. To us it was busy, but after looking at some other reports, it was dead compared to some of the pictures I have seen!

We made sure to make a stop here.
DSC00573.jpg

DH is a volunteer fire fighter with dreams of being able to do it full time someday. we made a stop here every time we came to the park, and missed out on getting DH the shirt he really wanted. Next time I keep telling him! ;)

I knew we did not have a lot of time. We had a 720pm ADR for Cali Grill, and I do not think we got to the park until around 430 or 5 if i remember correctly. We walked around mostly this night, taking it all in.

DSC00578.jpg

I wanted to get at least one ride in. What do you think was our first ride?? It might surprise you!
DSC00606.jpg

It was a compete walk on. I have to admit, while in the first room and the ceiling starts to "streatch", being the last row in, I did look behind me to see if I was too close to the wall! Shameful, I know. :lmao:

When we got off the ride we decided to head towards the castle. It was about 615, and people were lining up everywhere. I knew it was too soon for Wishes, so we staked out a spot and asked a few women beside us what people were waiting on. Turns out it was the lighting ceremony! We had to wait. After talking some more, we realized that the woman was from Ohio originally and lived only about an hour away from us! Small world!
The ceremony was awesome, and I am really glad we waited!
DSC00613.jpg

Castle before....
DSC00623.jpg

And after (I wish this girl was not right in the middle!)

We fought out way to the entrance of the park to get to the monorail. We had to make our ADR! We made it to the desk to check in right on time, and requested a window seat. We were told it might not happen since others had checked in before us and also requested a window. Oh well, we would be happy either way! We waited about 15 mins to be called to our table, and IT WAS A WINDOW SEAT, WITH THE CASTLE FRONT AND CENTER! We were super excited!

I ordered the 4 cheese flat bread, DH ordered the cheese sampler. I loved the flat bread, and DH loved the cheese. Well one tasted like stinky feet to me , but I really like 3/5 so I thought that was a good ratio!
Our apps came during WISHES. THe show was amazing, and brought tears to my eyes. When we went to disney on my Wish trip, we watched it, but I had no memory of it. DH got a video, and it is awesome. I love how the lights dimmed and the music is piped in. Total tear feast for me! :cloud9:

For our meal I ordered the Filet, and DH got the grouper. My filet was good. Not spectacular. It came with broccolini, and I did not care for it at all, too bitter, which is a shame because I love broccoli! I don't think i would order this again. I debated between the scallops and this, and chose this to be safe. I loves me some beef! Next time, I will try something else. DH loved his grouper and I think he might have licked the bowl afterwards! :rolleyes1

For dessert I ordered the banana trio (I am making up the name, I'm sure lol), it was awesome, and bananas are not my favorite. Since DH got the cheese, he was not able to get a dessert, which was fine with him and a good thing since they brought this out:
DSC00638.jpg

You can see a pic of my banana dessert as well, it was amazing. We had our awesome server box up the chocolate cake for us since we were stuffed! Our bill came, and with tip our grand total was: $142 :scared1: Good thing we were on the dining plan! We tipped the amount suggested on the reciept because our server was awesome and she deserved every penny!

After the meal DH wanted to check out the observation deck. I went out too, but only lasted about 30 seconds before I realized that I desperatley needed to get back inside. I looked down and walked in the dead center of the isle until I practically ripped the door off to get back inside! :lmao: I have never had that stong of a reaction to heights before! I guess I expected the walkway to be much wider. DH stayed out to take a few pics (none turned out, sorry!) and called his dad.

We headed back down to the lobby and looked around the Fantasia store, DH wanted a lanyard, but decided to keep looking for now. A quick trip to the restroom and we headed back to the monorail.
DSC00653.jpg

We had asked our server the best way to get back to our hotel since MK had closed for the night. You should have seen the buses lined up, it was pretty cool to see them all from our table at Cali Grill! She was very helpful and even went to ask someone else if she did not know the answer to our question. I know we took the monorail to MK, then I want to say we took a monorail to Epcot (we might have taken the monorail to the TTC though, that makes more sense) and from there we caught the bus back to our resort. Ok I know it was at Epcot that we grabbed a bus.

We dragged our dog-tired booties up to our room and crashed. We had a great day, and another long day ahead, so we needed sleeeep!

Next: MK, DTD, and what did we think of BOMA?

Congrats on having a drama free wedding day - I think the comment would have probably bothered me too but I'm sure it wasn't meant to be ugly. Glad y'all had a good time at MK and enjoyed dinner at Cali Grill. We have never eaten there but it sounds like something we should check out next time we do the dining plan!

Thanks! I know the comment wasn't made to be snarky, but the way they said it was not sitting well with me. The MK was awesome, and Cali grill was spectacular. We would never be able to afford that meal, and since we had free dining, we only paid a grand total of about $32 with tip and my flatbread. It was worth it just to see Wishes!

I'm glad your wedding turned out so nicely -- it sounds like you handled the "zipper fiasco" very well! :thumbsup2

My DH & I honeymooned at Disney alomst 20 years ago. I think it is a wonderful place to start your married life! :lovestruc

Belated congratulations!! :woohoo:

Thank you very much! I paniced at first, then said "nope, we will not get worked up, we will just deal with it." Plus we really had no choice! :lmao:

It was a wonderful place for our honeymoon! I'm still asking for an anniversary trip haha...

Keep pushing, you'll get what you want eventually! :rotfl: We had a Disneymoon (complete w/ 4-night Disney cruise  ), and went back last year for our 1st anniversary... and will be going back this year for our 2nd anniversary... and quite possibly for every anniversary for the rest of our lives! (Thanks DVC! :lmao: )

I am. DH just started a new job and only earns 1 day of vacation for every month he works, and since he is on probation until june, he wont start earning those days until after his probation ends. Sort of frustrating. Very glad he got the job, but annoyed with their policy. He is also still actively seeking more gainful employment, so we are not sure if we should book and just cancel later, or wait and see how things go. I am also waiting to see if free dining is offered. Yes, I am "one of those" free dining people lol

Oh I dream of DVC, however my terrible borrowing decisions have caused me to be burried under more student loan debt then I care to admit :scared1: Hopefully one day!

I'm loving your report! And your dress was great! (safety pins and all!)

Welcome! I love my dress! The safety pins only made it so we couldnt really take any close up's of the back of my dress, so it didnt make a huge impact on the day!

Congrats on your wedding! Loving your report. Keep it coming!

Thank you! I hope to update again tomorrow!

We woke up around 830 thrusday morning. We did not have much of a plan, we just knew that we were meeting my mom and dad for lunch and to shop around DTD. Since we only had a limited time at MK the night before, we decided to head back and see if we could get a few more things done. It was a beautiful day. Mid to high 70's without much humidity. Perfect!

On our way!
DSC00658.jpg

I love this resort!

We noticed this on our way into the MK on the bus, we didnt figure out why it was there until later.
DSC00662.jpg

Once again, upon entering the MK (around 10am) we headed straight for the firehouse. We browsed around again, then headed for the castle. I had forgotten that this was the first day of the MK christmas parade taping. This was in front of the castle:
DSC00671.jpg

Yanni was getting ready to perform. DH really wanted to stay and watch, while I had no interest. This was not what I had come for! We stayed for about 10 mins, then headed to Tomorrowland!

We stopped at the Lunching Pad and got a couple waters and a muffin that was literally the size of my head. It was huge, and delicious. After eating probably only 1/2 of the muffin, we were both full. I ran ahead while DH was people watching to check the standby time. It was only 20 mins. We had to go. I went and grabbed DH and dragged him into line. The wait was only about 10 mins, and it was awesome! Jerky, and dark. Perfect!

Side note: DH doesnt like roller coasters, or any ride that "drops". I have always known this, but we had never been to a theme park together. I did space mountain as a test. He came off the ride saying he really liked it. Hmmm...this was either a big fat lie, or he was realizing that the rollar coasters in disney really were not that intense.

We grabbed fast passes for later, and deaded to Buzz. We got another dose of disney magic here. I misunderstood the fastpass rule about the time you can get another pass ( i thought that meant another pass for the same ride), well we went to get passes at Buzz and were denied. A super friendly CM came and explained that the time applied to any fastpass, but since we had our trusty "just married" buttons on, he gave us the passes anyways! We were able to use them right away. Jeremy ended up scoring the highest score possible! I cannot remember the number, but it started with a 1 and ended with a lot of zeros!

DSC00690.jpg

I figured since DH liked Space, he would like this. The people getting off didn't seem too wet, and the stand by line was only 10 mins, so we were going for it! Welll....good news first: it was a total walk on and I loved it.! Bad news: we ended up getting hit directly by the water cannons, and DH hated it. He looked terrified the whole time in anticipation of the drop. Lesson learned. No more drop rides.

While getting off of Space I called my dad, he said they were on their way to DTD and to meet them when we could. We headed towards Main st after splash and stopped to see who the next performer for the parade was. Can you guess?

DSC00696.jpg

Kris Allen from American Idol. We didnt stay to hear him sing, just long enough to get a picture. We did sneak a terrible snap shot together.
DSC00702.jpg

We ended up taking the monorail over to the Contemporary, then waited for the bus from there. This bus stop seemed completely deserted, and we were sure a bus would never come. We only waited about 5 minutes, and it was only us and another couple on the bus. We meet mom and dad at Ghiridelli. We decided to head to EoS for lunch. The line was enormous. I was afarid my parents would shy away, but my dad really wanted to wait. The line moved very fast, and since we all changed our minds about 10 times, it was probably best that we waited! :lmao:

I got the BLT, DH got the tuna melt, and I have no idea what mom and dad got lol. I know we all loved it. I was just happy we got seats, the place was seriously packed!

Next up: Once upon a Toy!
DSC00705.jpg

We looked around in here for a bit, then headed out to explore the rest of DTD that, ahem, we ran thru a few nights ago. My mom bought a few soaps at Basin to give as gifts, and my dad bought my mom some soaps since she refused to get any for herself!
DSC00708.jpg

trying to take it all in at WoD...

DH at Lego..
DSC00727.jpg

I made mom and dad stop for a picture. They have not taken a picture together in years!
DSC00735.jpg

We headed all the way to the Pleasure Island side, the back again. I was really excited for Curl, however, my wallet was not prepared. Yikes!

I'm excited because I am shopping...
DSC00741.jpg

And Dad is excited because he found some popcorn :rotfl2:
DSC00743.jpg

He also got to guard all of our bags. His official job anytime we shop and he decided to find a bench!

We hung around until about 4, we needed to get back to our resort to change for our ADR! We said our goodbyes to my parents and made our way out.

On the bus back to ASMu to change and get ready for one of the most anticipated meals of the trip...

Next: Would BOMA lead up to our expectations.....

I was two updated behind.

I love your pictures from the MK. The castle lighting is just so beautiful. I would love to see it in person someday.

Your dinner sounded perfect. My son and his wife have eaten there and loved it. I haven't tried it yet. Maybe someday when it's just DH and I.

You sound like my DH. He goes to WDW to ride the rides. He get real frustrated if we stop for anything else. As the trip progresses he finally slows down. Shopping with your parents sounded very relaxing and fun.

I loved the castle lighting and I am really glad we decided to stay and watch it. Dinner was good, I dont really know it if was worth the $142 price tag, but it was an experience we will never forget, or probably be able to repeat!

I was all about the rides in the beginning, but towards the end I was regretting not "stopping to smell the roses". I think I was so concerned about doing it all that we let a lot go by. Oh well, there is always a next time!

I loved going to DTD with them! They really liked it too and confessed that they stopped the day before after dropping us off at our resort. I wish that they could have gone to the parks for a day with us, we even considered buying them MVMCP tickets on the night we considered going ( and when I saw "we" I really mean "I" :lmao:) They have done a lot for us as a couple and for me especially lately, so I was glad they got to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and a shopping experience they may never get to repeat.
