A Warning when amending or adding to itinery with Virgin Holidays

Dear all,

If this has already been addressed my apologies.

I have had two occasions to amend my booking with Virgin Holidays, the first time was to add extra tickets and the second time to remove a party member, once online and once over the phone.

When I made my original booking I had added the Disney 14 day Ultimate Ticket option which was £183 per adult at that time. However when I made the amendents at later dates to my booking, Virgin had changed the price of these tickets to £215 and of course when total amounts change when ordering extra tickets etc this sort of thing could slip by unnoticed.

I had to contact Virgin on both occasions and after some discussion the balance was corrected so that the original purchase price of the tickets was reinstated. I thought I would warn anyone else of these potential secret price increases, so if you are about to make changes, copy the page before doing so, then you will have proof if required :thumbsup2
 
I think what happens is that if/when any amendments are made the costs of everything are bumped up to todays which could potentially be more, it removes any percentage discounts aswell (as I found out and had to go through the rigmarole of phoning them to sort out, argh!)
 
Fortunately the percentage discounts were not affected in my case, but if anything I think it makes it even more important to take note of original figures etc before amendments are made
 
I amended my booking a couple of weeks ago and was told by the member of staff at Virgin that as soon as they go on their system to amend a booking ALL the prices revert to current day's prices and any discounts are removed. He was very competent and I could hear him reversing all the new prices out and inputting the original prices and then applying the discount. At the end we both agreed on the final total.

I agree that you need to to know exactly what the breakdown was before you make changes.

Some staff are very well trained but I think there are others who are not so good.......
 

This can also be further complicated as it is common to have to wait a couple of weeks , or maybe more, for an updated invoic to be despatched.

Most changes we have had to make have been fine and not had too many problems, apart from invoices either not being sent or being innacurate.
I think on our April holiday this year it took an age to get a correct invoice in writing which actually matched up with the online details under 'Manage Your Booking'.
