Just wanted to remind all of you who are walking to get in shape for Dis-Con:
When you go out walking, please wear light-colored clothing after dark, and be very aware of your surroundings as you walk.
A driver (actually my next door neighbor) fell asleep at the wheel last night while he was driving home. Guess who was out walking? He hit me with his car. I saw him at the last minute and couldn't get out of his way. Fortunately he was only traveling at around 10 miles an hour. I was hit in the hip, rolled onto the hood, and hit his windshield when he woke up. Of course he slammed on his brakes, so I came back the way I went and hit the pavement.
Obviously, I'm fine. I have a very badly bruised hip and some cracked ribs. Luckily I wasn't walking with Bandit, otherwise he would have been killed.
The doctor says that it's going to take a while for my ribs to heal, because they can't be bandaged. I guess I'll wait and see how I feel in a few weeks before deciding whether to take my vacation late in September.
I'm trying very hard not to be angry at my neighbor, but it's difficult. He is a recent immigrant from another country, and has no insurance. We'll see what the law does to him, then I guess I'll decide what to do.
Anyway, dear friends.....be careful out there!
