and really for any time there is water. If you are in your vehicle and become stuck in standing water, be very, very careful about your situation. We had a horrific incident here in the NYC area this week. A young college couple were stuck, the girl got out of the car and instantly collapsed. The boyfriend also jumped out to help her. What neither of them knew was that a power line was also in the water. They were both electrocuted. It was very sad but one of those instances where you don't stop and think about the situation. The experts recommend staying in the vehicle and avoiding touching any metal or the frame. The tires will act as insulators.

In a storm it's best to assume any line in the road is a live electric wire.

Be safe everyone!

 How horrible. Good advice, never thought of it.

Last year a bunch of horses got electrocuted when a pole went down next to their field.

I heard a report this morning that a woman in Florida was already killed by walking through standing water that had a power line. :( They are urging people not to wander around until they get an all clear from authorities.
