I was wondering if anyone has taken the Walk With Walt Tour? What it was like and was worth doing. Thanks

I took the walk with walt tour over the summer. I really liked it even though I already knew most of the information. They tell you a lot about opening day which I thought was really interesting as well as facts and stuff about the park. (Like on the walkway through the castle there is this little metal circle on the ground which represented the center of the park when it was first built) You start on mainstreet walk through fantasyland and fronteirland, ride on the mark twain, and then end in the disney gallery. It takes about three hours and you don't really do any rides or anything so it's good if you've been to disneyland a lot and want to do something different. And if you don't go to disneyland a lot you will learn a lot of new stuff. It's not that expensive ($12 or $18 or something like that and I think you get a discount w/ an american express) so the only reason I would say not to go on it is if you don't want to give up the time for the tour. Also I think there is an article about it in the last disney magazine. I hope this helps.

You also get a discount with Disney Club (50% off). I was disappointed in it, but I think it was primarily due to our guide (Vincent). He was VERY boring, and about half our group left before the halfway point. Another thing that disappointed me about it was, like MissScarlet, we knew almost everything he said. There were a couple of things that we didn't know, but I really expected the tour to discuss things that can't be found in books. We did the tour because we have been to Disneyland a lot and wanted to do something different, and wanted to find out more "behind the scenes" kind of info.

I would do it again, but I would avoid Vincent. (There were 2 guides for our time slot, and we just split into 2 groups.) It does take quite a bit of time though, about 2 1/2 hours. Our tour sounds different from MissScarlet. We did not go on the Mark Twain. We also ended at the Disney Gallery (another disappointment...it was closed, and Vincent did not know that, even though there was a big sign in the front as well as the back door where we were). He offered to take us on the Haunted Mansion with him, but no one took him up on his offer.

I agree with MissScarlet...do it only if you have the time (we stayed there 4 days). It will probably be especially interesting to you if you don't know a lot of the details behind Disneyland. My only additional comment is, again, avoid Vincent. (He's a very tall, lean guy with dark hair and glasses. I think he had a small moustache too.)

(As a side note: we went on a tour of the Grand Californian, where we were staying, and really enjoyed that one. It's free, about an hour long. Not sure if you need to be a guest or not.)

My girlfriend and I booked our last three trips to DL via the Disney travel company online... As a bonus to our package, they gave us a free pass for the Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour... We are considering the tour for our next trip even though we are familiar with most of the information, because we heard that some castmembers offer extended insight in hidden mickeys... :)

Mickey1955,

I laughed to myself at your comment about the Hidden Mickeys...Vincent showed us what he considered "hidden" Mickey's, but they weren't even hidden at all!! I'm sure the other guides will be much better than Vincent. From what I saw of the other guide we could've chosen from, she seemed to be very cheerful and her group seemed to be happy.

I think there is another post from a while ago where people describe their experiences of the tour, and almost all seemed very positive.

(btw, on our Grand Californian tour, the guide showed us some really great hidden Mickeys, one very unlike your "typical" one.)

LuvTigger, lol!!!

I guess it just depends on who you get for the tour! Vincent, sounds...ummm...interesting... I've heard from others that some tour guides are fantastic, and they actually tell you "behind the scenes" stuff about Disneyland, including the authentic Hidden Mickeys... :)

it was awesome!!

I took it as a 1st time visiter to DL(even though its not recommended) and Im sooo glad I did....I learned sooo much stuff that is very interesting!

I had a girl....ahh! Im drawing a blank for her name! but she was great!

My boyfriend and I are going in March and I think it would be nice to go on. Everytime I go I forget they do that, so thanks for reminding me, I'll have to write that down :D
