I am an extreme lurker on these wedding forums, and i often find myself in awe at the TRs here of some truly amazing weddings.:worship:

I am a happily married woman of 7 years to the most amazing man, and so had pretty much ruled out my chances of ever experiencing anything as magical as the Disney brides on here..........that is untill today!!

I am sat here thinking, i could have a 10 year VR couldnt I????

So my questions start with,

How do i find out a little more about these???

What sort of price am i looking at????

Do i get the same sort of ideas if i look at the wedding packages???

I do realise that i could lurk around here, and press a few buttons and find out myself, but thought id ask, as you are all so keen to help and support each other here :lovestruc

The thought of actually planning my own special day all over again, making it very personal and intimate is really making me feel quite giddy :yay::yay:

I look forward to hearing from you fellow vow renewal brides :surfweb:

Great idea! The good news and the bad is that to DFTW, renewals and weddings are the same - you are limited only by your imagination(and budget!!!!)

So i the DFTW there isn't like a lesser cost for a renewal. But welcome and I am sure many will chime in with ideas!!

Absolutely, you could have a 10 year VR! You deserve it!

The place to start is the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Website.

http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com/weddings

You can find out a little more about the wedding/VR packages (they're the same for both). There are basically 3 packages (4 in 2011/12, but it's unclear if the Memories Collection will stay because it's a special package to celebrate 20 years of weddings). Escape, Wishes and Couture.

http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com/weddings/florida/collection-comparison/index

If Memories doesn't stay, you'll be look at around $7000+

Another option would be a Swan/Dolphin wedding which I believe are a little cheaper.

Hope that helps!

Hi and welcome from another VR bride!!
My gorgeous DH and I recently had our VR at the Swan and it was perfect!!!
Mr Romance is right when he says that weddings/VRs at the S/D are cheaper, but they not just a little cheaper, but significantly cheaper!!!
I am well known for being an advocate of S/D weddings on these boards, but here are the pros and cons of a S/D wedding or VR (as I see them)

Pros:-

As already mentioned, S/D weddings are significantly cheaper than weddings arranged through DFTW. In fact, in some cases, you can pay around half of what you would pay for a similar occasion through DFTW

S/D weddings and VRs afford you more flexibility over things such as floral and cake, than the smaller DFTW packages do. I booked a bare bones package and worked with my planner on all the details untill I had exactly what I dreamed of.

There are no restrictions as to the number of guests with a S/D wedding or VR, as there are with the smaller DFTW packages.

Evidence on these boards suggests that communication with your planner may be more regular and reliable than with some of the DFTW planners. Of course, some of the DFTW planners are excellent and some are not so good at keeping in touch. but I have to say that I have never heard one complaint about communication with Karen (S/D planner).

A wedding or VR at the S/D is still extremely magical and still takes place right there in WDW!!!! We had photos taken at BLT, Swan, Boardwalk, GF and Poly and felt we missed out on nothing!! You can even book characters to appear at your wedding or VR just as DFTW brides can.

Cons:-

S/D brides cannot book Cinderella's carriage

S/D brides cannot book a photoshoot in bridal attire in the MK. Shoots can be organized at any of the other parks.

S/D brides, whilst still being allowed to book a DP at Epcot during 'Illuminatios', would not be permitted to wear their wedding dress to said DP. If the bride books a 'Wishes' DP, which takes place at Sago Cay, at the GF, she is permitted to wear her wedding dress.

S/D brides do not receive an AP as DFTW brides do.

I hope this helps you to come to some decisions. Our VR was the best day of our lives and not once during all the planning did I regret our decision to have a S/D VR!!

Please feel free to check out my PJ/TR the link to which is in my signature, and if you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask - I would be honoured to help.
Good luck and enjoy planning your VR - I loved every minute of planning ours

I've thought about this too! Only, it does seem extremely expensive! And I'm not sure how many friends/family would attend.

I saw someone had an anniversary dinner in the Tower of Terror ride.... something like that, IMO, would be cool.

Good luck figuring something out!

Cant thank you enough for all the info you shared with me - i shall be seriously considering what i would actually want and wether it is something we would want to do!!!

A girl can dream for now!!! :lovestruc:lovestruc

I think i need to unpick a few things and consider my options!!
But for now i am off to have a good ole read of your TR!!!!

That really does sound like fun!!!!!

so glad you started this thread! i was just thinking about doing a VR @ WDW! i didn't even think of the S/D idea...thanks!!

I'll second a Swan and Dolphin VR!! I'm having a S/D wedding (after having compared it to an "official" Disney wedding) and am so happy with my decision.

I'd tell you more about it but Jo's already covered it!!

Also, I wanted to encourage you to have a 10 year VR! How exciting! pixiedust:

I hope you're able to have your 10 year vow renewal! We're doing a 5 yr VR with the Swan and so far everything has been great. I think they are a great and affordable option for a VR. Happy planning!

Swan & Dolphin VR Brides....I e-mailed the Swan & Dolphin (using their contact form) about getting more info on vow renewals, etc. I received e-mails from the Swan & Dolphin AND a wedding planner at Just Marry!...are they one in the same? When planning your VR did you go directly through Swan & Dolphin or an outside planner? I'm just confused by the 2 e-mails.

Thanks!

When you do a swan/dolphin wedding the planner from Just Marry is included in the price. I've heard of other brides who didn't want to use Just marry and contracting out their own wedding planners but I'm pretty sure you cannot go through the Swan directly - you have to use a planner. I'm guessing the swan catering team was the other person who contacted you. You'd go directly through them if you wanted a catered function after your ceremony. IMO it is a good idea to use Just Marry because they work with the swan all the time and they are good at answering any questions you may have.

As Jilian says most S/D brides and VR brides use 'JustMarry'. They do nearly all the S/D weddings and VRs and really know there stuff and their services are included in all the S/D wedding packages. Again, as Jilian says, the S/D catering team will be responsible for any reception arrangements which take place at the hotel. We went for a meal at Citrico's after our VR so only had contact with the catering team re. our cake and champagne reception and Karen handled all communication with them for me!! She really is excellent and you cannot go wrong leaving your special day in her hands IMHO

As my lovely fellow S/D girls said, the S/D deals with your reception (if you'd like to hold one there) but Just Marry does your ceremony.

Just Marry is the BEST and Karen (the planner for S/D) is just wonderful!

I came to this section for this very reason
To bad it costs so much
No way I can do this for my wife/10th

Good info though, thanks

Don't know what the OP finally decided to do, but I thought I would update this with the info that Disney's Memories Collection has been extended indefinitely. However, starting May 1, 2012, the price goes up to $2,495. The only thing being added to the package is 20 5x7-inch photo prints.
