We are:
Me: 43 the Mom
Sam: 18 the Son
Liz: 15 the Daughter

12:30 pm
My goodness it rains a lot in Florida! Here we are in the fun capital of the world and all we want to do is sleep. It's so nasty out and so cozy in the room that we decide that a nap would be the best thing for us. Liz is disconsolate about the weather because she has yet to go swimming in any of the approximately two dozen bathing suits she's brought with her. She and I both were really excited about the Hard Rock's nifty pool but so far all we've been able to do is watch it through the rain from our hotel window.

2:30 pm
It's sooooo quiet in the room. Kind of eerily quiet. Something's missing. I know, the thunder's gone! I dash to the window and lo and behold the pool's open!!!!! I wake Lizzie, we jump into our suits (Liz chose her red & white two piece in case you're interested) and dash down to the pool. Sam won't wake up so we just leave him there. We don't have time to waste on him. Who knows when we'll get a chance like this again? The pool is nice with lots of sun beds and a few pricey looking cabanas. We really liked the slide. It seems longer than the one we remember from Stormalong Bay. And, yes, you can hear the music under the water. We do a little swimming and lounge around till they close the pool again. We have to go in anyway or Liz won't have enough time (say, oh, two or three hours) to get ready for the evening. While Liz is in the shower and Sam's still asleep. I give the room another once over for my elusive driver's license. I don't find the license but I do discover that my Visa card is now also missing. I am extremely grateful that my husband isn't here right now. He's a tad obsessive/compulsive and doesn't take things like this very well. Liz still has another hour or so in the shower so I have time to do a little mental backtracking and Eureeka!, call Margaritaville. Bingo! They have it. I sure wish I'd left my driver's license there.

5:00 pm
The rain has slacked off and Liz is finally ready so we wake up Sam and take off for Universal Studios. The crowds have picked up but Jaws is still feeling out of sorts. The Men In Black are likewise unavailable . The lines here are staggering, Shrek (90 minutes), and Jimmy Neutron (75 minites). We walk right into everything with our resort cards. I LOVE these things. At Jimmy Neutron we are apparently the only people in our car up to date with the current dance moves. No one else seems to know the funky chicken. We also see the stunt show (Sinbad something or other) with no wait.

7:00 pm
Rain still holding off so we run over to Islands of Adventure to see if the coasters are working. We use our id's to ride The Incredible Hulk (45 mimute wait) and Spiderman (30 minutes). At Dueling Dragons we have to wait all of fifteen minutes to ride in the front car of Fire. The kids make good use of their time by engaging in a lively debate on the matter of whether or not girls who walk around theme parks in bikinis are of low moral fiber. Sam took the pro-bikini side. Starting to sprinkle now so we run
back to the Studios to check on Men In Black. It's working. Yippee! Sam's been eagerly waiting this moment. He prides himself on his video gaming skills, has scored 999,999 on Buzz Lightyear, and has actually looked up hints on the internet. This is just about as close to actually living in the computer as he can get. Of course, life being what it is, Liz gets high score. Both times.

8:45 pm
The Hard Rock has promised us that we'll be able to watch the movie Spiderman while swimming in the pool tonight. Is this high class or what? Liz already has her swimsuit picked out. The first thing we see at the hotel, though, is a sign letting us know that Spiderman has up and moved inside. The pool is open for swimming, but not, alas, movie viewing. The kids decide to go for a swim anyway (after all why waste a perfectly good swimsuit?) and I retire to our room and enjoy a little solitude before bed.
