A very strange coincidence

Is it a wireless doorbell?
We had one of those and went through the same thing, we finally got rid if it.

hhmmmm...I'm not sure. I'll have to ask DH.I know he was taking parts of it apart earlier this evening to figure out what is going on.

I would say you dreamed it, but it's happening to both of you! I have very vivid dreams, so I frequently wake up thinking I heard my dad call out my name, or someone knocking on the door, only to discover that I was dreaming. But it's happened to both of you, so it's not that.

I'll go with mostly everyone else, and say it's the wiring.

Was thinking the same thing. Ours would go off for no reason, but it was very scary in the middle of the night.

It could be a loved one that has passed...it could just be electrical. My mom had that problem with her doorbell, it would ring on saturday mornings around 8:30, she would check and no one was at the door, we think it's the wind rattling something...but I'm a firm believer in ghosts, so it really could be that, but i don't know why they'd want to scare you or make you uneasy...

Over a yr ago, I got a community email from a neighbor about another neighbor, that their door knocker was knocking at 1am one night and no one was outside. They came to find out that some kids had tied clear string from a doorknocker across the street to their doorknocker. The string went all the way through front yards and a backyard, to both doorknockers to two different homes.
Maybe it's possible the same thing might be with your doorbell? Maybe some kid/kids tied clear string to lay against your doorbell, maybe with a very small weight on it, so to hit the doorbell, and string goes across the street to the house across the street? Just a thought
It sounds complex, but it's possible something like that could happen.

At least it's just your doorbell ringing. We once forgot to lock our front door and a very drunk man came in at 1 AM and decided to cook hot dogs in our kitchen!
