A Very Lurkyloo Christmas is FINISHED! New 3/16: Last Day of the Trip!

No Christopher Robin? Not sure I like that. However, I do love all your pics from the TOT. Sorry about the nasty cupcake.

I was so happy to discover your TR this morning! Thanks for taking us along with you -- love all the pictures!

Kristen

Yay! :goodvibes Glad you like them!

I gained 10 pound just looking at that Butterfinger cupcake!

 I apologize.... I can post a picture of some celery if it will help!

loving your TR, take your time.........:surfweb:

btw, I enjoyed a very good piece of chocolate peanut butter cake from the BW bakery last Saturday. WOW, I will go back for another piece when I return to the world!

Hooray! I'm so glad you liked it! It just has the perfect ratio of peanut butter to chocolate, I think.

I am so excited for your newest update! I like the food at the 50s Prime Time Cafe. They have the best pot roast. Thank you for all of the pictures of Dinsey's Playhouse. I don't have kids either and I was wondering what the show was about. Now I really want some chocolate after seeing those toppers! They are cute, but I still would eat them.

:lmao:

I'll have to try the pot roast next time!

Only one food shot... and it was icky? Disappointing! I was kind of stumped as to why it was so... tall. It looked like it had a chocolate covered strawberry under there. Now THAT would have been good. To me. But not to you either.

They coulda fit about THREE chocolate-covered strawberries under there! :cutie:

oh, I forgot about the chicken by the time I got to the end. It looked good, nice and crispy! Too bad you and Patrick didn't get any sass from the server though.

Yeah, I was kinda looking forward to seeing how Patrick reacted. He's so good at being outrageous, I figured he might turn the tables on them....

Yeah more TR! I can totally back up the icky weather you experienced, except we dealt with it while changing resorts (nothing like changing busses at DTD in the pouring rain) But hey a rainy day in Disney is better than no day in Disney! Looking forward to more!

Oh no! Changing buses with all your luggage in the rain! :sad2: You shoulda called us - we could've brought Vanilla Ice to your rescue!

"DH took a ton of pictures while I wrung buckets of water from our outerwear."

At first glance, I thought this said you wrung buckets out of your UNDERwear!

:headache: I wish I'D thought of that - soooooo much funnier! I'm going back and changing it...

I'm disappointed in the lack of Christopher Robin. What's up with that?

It is a little curious, but I think DisneyFirefly has the answer - they wanted to girl it up a bit!

For anyone who doesn't know who the girl with Tigger and Pooh is, that's Darby. She's allegedly Christopher Robin's cousin. When I worked at MK, we got so many confused parents asking us what the heck had happened to Christopher Robin and why he looked like a girl now. I haven't a clue why they changed. Probably to try and make Pooh more "accessible" to girls or something? I dunno, my sister and I loved it just fine when we were little.

:thumbsup2 A-ha! I think you're on to something there.

I'm back. Lots of catching up to do here.

How's it going? :wave2:

Did you say peanut butter shake???YUM!!!

HELLS yes! I could go for one right now, as a matter of fact...

No Christopher Robin? Not sure I like that. However, I do love all your pics from the TOT. Sorry about the nasty cupcake.

I accept your apology. Thank you. :rotfl: And I will pass the compliment along to DH!

Awww, yay! :lovestruc I'm at work tonight (and single), so I bought myself dinner. Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh man - anyplace called The Fudge Pot is definitely going on my list. Thanks for the tip! The last time I was in Chicago the only places I remember eating are Giordano's and Ghirardelli, so I gotta branch out.

Also, good for you for buying yourself dinner! When I was single I used to take myself out on a hot date (like dinner and a concert) on Valentine's Day, because why should couples have all the fun? :cutie:

Still Lurkeyloo-ing. he he.
My main squeeze also purchased some cupcakes for me from a place called Molly's cupcakes. Yummo. it's the Valentines cupcake trend!
Looking forward to more, as always the pictures are awesome. :thumbsup2

It's definitely on my list of places to go sometime this week :teeth: You should also try Lou Malnati's next time you come here! I think they've got better pizza than Giordano's. I'm actually taking my parents and brother there for dinner tomorrow night.

I'd feel better about having bought myself dinner if it had been any good :sad2: I got Chinese takeout, and the rice was nowhere near what I wanted, and the egg roll was disgusting. Oh well. I have Lou's to look forward to tomorrow :cloud9:

Your update was worth waiting for! I'm sure your book turned out great. Lots of great pics - It sounds like someone (not sayin' who :rolleyes1) needs to watch some Playhouse Disney! :goodvibes After having my DGS and DGD live here for 2 yrs, I have all the characters and plots memorized! So I have that goin' for me:thumbsup2

[/COLOR]

Is it bad that I don't have kids and I know the characters? :rolleyes1 Those big headed one are the little Einsteins (sp) and they like classical music and architecture and other interesting cultural things  They go around playing Vivaldi and looking at Monet :thumbsup2
Mine and DH's fave has to be the Imagination Movers - we both love the one where they go into the upsidedown room and end up wearing their shoes on their feet :rotfl: And neither of us had had a drink yet (I think it was still early in the am)
Animal Mechanicals are quite cool too :goodvibes

Anyway - carry on :thumbsup2

Those Sprinkles cupcakes look so amazing!! :lovestruc It's on my lifetime to-do list to eat a Sprinkles cupcake (or 38).

I always thought the Butterfinger cupcake looked AMAZING on the DIS until I saw one cut open. It looks so gross, maybe it's all of that white, buttercream frosting?? I dunno.

Great update! I'm glad to hear 50's was a good experience. :goodvibes

Why hello there! I like how even your avatar looks like it's lurking. :teeth: Congrats on the cupcakes!

You win!!!!! That IS the best Valentine's Day gift evah!!! We don't have Sprinkles around here:sad1:.

They do sell a mix now - we'll have to see if DISer cdotla can report on whether the ones from the mix taste as good as the fresh ones....

yummy looking cupcakes.

>burp< And how! :rotfl:

This is great - I am fully prepared to like it better than even Giordano's. Thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks for filling me in! I have to laugh at the Little Einsteins description - talk about Disney grasping for respectability! And I wish they'd had the Imagination Movers in the show we saw - that sounds fun!

Well, when you come out here to Disneyland :rolleyes1 you can go to the Sprinkles in Newport Beach! They also have a Susiecakes there, so you can get the full tour...

I don't know..I got to go to Epcot for Valentine's Day!!

Ohhhhhhh......I wish I got to go to Epcot for Valentine's day. How sweet would that be?

Carrie -

I read your update early this morning before I left for work. That was like so 8 hours ago. Hmmmmmm....let's see how many comments I can remember:

1. Boo to Wilmer Valderrama (aka Fez) for not making Manny more believable. What's his deal?

2. I like 50's prime time ....I have had their salmon a couple of times and its always been good. Plus, I think the place is a hoot, especially if you go with a large group or a kid with braces. It's one of those places that I never expected to like, but did.

3. Boo to the Starring Roles muffin. How could something that looks so good taste so bad????? :confused3

4. I love Patrick's pics of all the ToT details. I missed so much inside the building. Maybe I will do better with the indoor pictures in May.

Well, that's all my mid day brain can remember. Looking forward to your blu zoo dinner review.

ps....oh yeah - nice cupcakes!

Hey you guys!! :dance3:

Somehow all the stars are aligned, and there's gonna be a whole lotta Lurkyloo on the Internets this week!

Today, check out the first in a three-part series of guest posts I've written for The Disney Wedding Blog:

http://www.disneyweddingblog.com/

I think the other two parts will be posted later this week. Also, I'll be a guest on the new PassPorter podcast this week, so I'll let you know when that goes up.... unless I totally stick my foot in my mouth during the recording session tomorrow ("Duuuhhhh..... me like DISNEY!!!"), in which case, forget I ever told you...

:dance3:

I just read through your TR and cannot wait for your updates. I even went over to read your wedding blog, not even planning on getting married again, EVER! But if it's about Disney...I'm there! You are so comical and your TR is a refreshing change from so many others. THANK YOU!!

I do have one question. How were the crowds this time of year? Of course AK EMH might not be a good example to go by, but I've always wanted to go that time of year. I would have been so scared riding all alone on dinosaur, though.

We made these yesterday for Vday and I thought you might like them...I'm sure if you aren't into jelly you can easily leave that layer out. :) it's really easy and NO BAKE!

PB & J Chocolate Bars

For the base:
1 stick unsalted butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 large egg, beaten
1 sleeve of saltines, finely crushed

For the filling and glaze:
1/4 cup grape jelly (I used slightly more than this to cover it properly)
7 tablespoons, plus 1 teaspoon unsalted butter, softened
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

1.
Make the base: Line an 8 inch square baking pan with foil, extending it over the sides.
Put the butter in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, making sure the water and the bowl don't touch. Once the butter melts stir in the cocoa and sugar. Whisk in the egg, cook, keep whisking, until it turns the consistency of hot fudge, approx 4-6 minutes.
Remove from heat, Mix in the saltines.
Press this crust into the pan.
Place pan in freezer for a few minutes (until next layer is ready)
2.
Make the filling:spread the jelly over the cooled crust in pan. Place back in freezer until next layer is done.
Beat 5 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon of butter, peanut butter and confectioners sugar with a mixer, until light.
Spread over the jelly layer.
Return pan to freezer while last layer is being made.
3.
Make the glaze: Place the chocolate and remaining 2 tablespoons of butter into the heatproof bowl, over the simmering water.
Heat until chocolate is is melted.
Remove from heat, stir until smooth.
When it's cool but still runny, spread the glaze over the chilled peanut butter layer. Smooth it out. Freeze for about 30 minutes, or until set.
Remove them from the pan by lifting the foil from the pan. Cut into squares and enjoy.
