A Very Disappointed Dvc Member

To keep things accurate ... The General Manger at DVC's HHI Resort is a he. Resort GMs tend to change every few years. It is my understanding that the current HHI GM is a dedicated & hard working cast member & has been with the company for several years. If the OP wants to write a letter (& I highly encourage it), then I would send it to the HHI GM.

DVC members need to keep in mind that any place will have issues, problems, concerns, etc. It is our responsibility as members to bring up these issues, problems, concerns, etc. at the time of our visit. It is best to contact someone who can do something right then & there.

HEY!!!

First of all, OP did NOT say a WORD about palmetto bugs! And secondly, we Floridian's deeply resent you bringing our State Bird into this discussion!

:earboy2:  :rolleyes1 :rolleyes2 :scared: :faint: :duck:

Who care whatcha call 'em - they are both from the roach family! I found a dead one in a OKW bathtub once! Eeeeeeuuuuuuuwwwwwwww!

And at least you don't have the Maine Black Fly State Bird to contend with!

Thank you JudithM! The previous HHI GM was also a male and the two of them together account for probably the past five years of the resort.

Truthfully, if *I* were the GM, I would want a thread like this to be brought to my attention -- especially if the guest did not report it to anyone at the resort. Unfortunately, even the best managers cannot be everywhere at all times and sometimes "things" happen!

I wouldn't be surprised if this thread has not already been forwarded to the GM of DVC's HHI Resort.

Sorry to hear about your experience at HHR. We have not future plans to visit and now would reconsider if we did. I'm not a fan of bugs.

I love DVC and I love WDW. I think I will keep things the way they are.

VB is great also!

Ok. Like bugs is poor choice of words, rather you should tolerate bugs to visit our state. Especially the coastal parts. Our climate is a lot milder in the southern part of SC and yes, we do have a terrible problem controlling them.

We do have very mild winters, though and no snow. :)

I have 3 small children and usually take only one vacation a year. Also I did not have any reason to even FIND a message board concerning Disney before this. This was our third stay as a DVC member. We vacationed in Vero which was fine and we did a cruise. We stayed at a two bedroom in HHI in 2001 as a guest and liked it so much we decided to invest in the Vacation Club. I can tell you that there was dirt and dust everywhere, dirty walls, dirty carpet that needed stretched, the floor tile and grout in the kitchen had alot of blackdirt ground in it, mold in showers esp. master bath, bugs including cockroaches ,ants and fleas, light bulbs burned out, stove not working, knobs missing from cabinets, slow and stopped-up sink drains and yes, they did come in a timely manner and fixed the mechanical trouble but the overall upkeep was very poor.

Stop the crying..

I had no idea I would be offending anyone by posting my bad experience. I don't understand what I would get out of it by making this up. I am not bashing Disney. My husband and I have so many great vacations at Disney World and Disneyland since we've met and now continuing with our children. We tried a cruise last year and loved it [although you don't have to be a DVC member to go on their cruiseline]. All the Disney hotels we've stayed at were great--clean and no bugs. But---15,000 dollars later I don't see any excuse for it! I posted my experience to see if this had happened to anyone else and what they did about it and to inform--I am glad to learn that this is not becoming the "norm" with the DVC rooms.

There is two things you do. The first min after you see the problems in the room, you complain if this really happened.
Next if you dont like what you experience at disney after spending 15,000, then sell.. Simple.

Are perfect examples of people being unacceptably rude for no discernable reason other than to hurt and enflame. Uncalled for and offensive.

Couldn't agree with you more. I was going to post something myself, but I was so put off by the posts that I had to leave the thread for a while or I may have said something uncalled for and offensive.

Hey, come on folks! No need to be so rude to new posters! That's not the way we operate here on this board.

There are two things about these boards that are annoying. One is amusing, and the other is revealing.

The amusment comes from the folks who consistently read the one original post by the OP in a thread that is 5-10 pages long, are too lazy to even skim through the thread, and then post their opinions/comments...most of which have either already been said, or are completely off target. My father used to have a saying about folks like that: "It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

The posts which are revealing are the rude ones. They tell much more about the rude person than they do about the person they are criticizing.

There is a feature on this board, BTW, to block all the posts from those folks so you don't have to be annoyed by them.

I'll agree with the second but take a minor exception with the first. There are times when you want to address the OP directly but don't care to read the intervening 10 pages of posts when the first couple pages have already gone off in a direction that doesn't interest you. I suppose it's probably better to send a PM at that point but I don't always bother.

I haven't yet found the option for screening rude and inconsiderate posts. :rotfl:

Honestly you were the originator of the rude comments towards the initial poster.

Hopefully you have come around.

Back on page one I was questioning why the OP didn't come back with more details. They did indeed come back with more details. So many times when we have "drive by postings" the OP doesn't come back and just posts to stir the pot. That certainly wasn't the case here, and I would never be as rude as some of the comments on the last page.

Ladies and Gentlemen.

These attacks on the OP will end NOW. Please review the posting guidelines that you agreed to when you joined the DIS. Attacks against other posters is prohibited. This poster has responded to your inquiries that he is not a troll. Now let it be.

Everyone has the right to express his/her dissatisfaction with thier stay at DVC. If you choose to exercise your right to bash people, the webmasters will exercise thier right to ask you to leave.

First - contacting Disney with your complaints sounds like an excellent idea. The only way they can improve is by knowing about the problems encountered. Since several of your issues seem to have been corrected in a timely manner while you were onsite, it sounds like you did let the CM's there know of your problems - at least some of them.

Second - and this is to the board in general... Exactly WHAT new poster is going to hurry back (its only been around 10.5 hours... some people DO only stop in once a day or so...) to get blasted again for posting their opinion about a DVC stay?

Yes, if its a post only trying to stir up trouble, then fine, you all win for your ability to see right through this thinly veiled attempt at trolling. But wouldn't it be a MUCH better reflection on everyone to consider that it might a disappointed member who was excited to invite several friends to share a Disney HHI Grand Villa and was embarassed by the conditions she found? That she was hurt and upset and posted as such?

The nastiness and bashing of the OP in this thread is uncalled for and JUST as bad as any other trolling I see on various discussion boards. Instead of trying to post just your own experiences, or lending a helpful suggestion - it seems it is SO much more fun to flame and escalate the negative feelings. I find that MUCH more offensive than a negative review...

but maybe that is just me...

It's not just you. I totally agree with you. I've been a DVC member since 1996, but I just started posting on these boards a couple of months ago. So what? Does that mean if I post something negative about Disney (God Forbid), that it isn't true? DISNEY IS NOT PERFECT (I should know, I worked for them for about 3 years.) As DVC members, we should want to hear the good and the bad. I think it is childish to to be so nasty to someone because they are posting a bad experience at a DVC resort. If you don't have anything nice/helpful to say, just don't say anything at all and ignore the thread.
