I don't blame you for being nervous about driving at all, let alone a rental. Hopefully it works out that she is the primary driver.

How long does it take to get to DLR from where you live?

About the rental....I don't know all the details, something about it covering $30 a day or whatnot. I haven't looked much into it yet. And in all honesty I am not even comfortable driving a rental after being in an accident. Especially not all the way to So Cal. My friend has a family friend who worked at a car place for a while and has been able to get her some great deals on rentals, so if she ends up renting the car, she will be the primary driver for the trip and I think i would feel much more comfortable that way.

I hope that all works out. I was actually pleased to have the rental car to take to LA when I had mine. Less wear and tear on my car.

I would be nervous too. I was when I got hit.

The drive to DL from here is about 5 hours. We are planning on stopping in LA for a while on the way. So it's not too bad. But since we are spending 2 days in San Diego after DLR, the drive home from there is about 7-8 hrs! :scared1:
I am defiantly gonna have to help my friend out with driving that.
Me and her took a rental to DLR last October when we went, and that worked out well.

That drive to San Diego seems to take forever doesn't it?

I WISH I was only 5 hours away! I would take advantage of that twice a year if I was there! I am now preparing myself for my second 26 hour (more with over night stops, in under a year! I so wish I lived closer! Lol.

It is nice to live not so far. This will be my 4th trip of the year :)
My family has had to drive to Louisiana from Cali and wow that one was hard. I dont know how many hrs that drive is, but we definitely made at least one over night stop. And most of that drive is so plain and deserty.
Thankfully I wasn't even old enough to drive yet!

I am sorry but I need to rant. My 17 year old daughter insisted on going to see HP with her brother and I today. Then proceeded to tak through the movie, mock it, me and just generally act like a jerk. I have offered for over a week for her to see the Pooh Bear movie but she won't ask any of her friends and expects me to go see a movie I do not want to see. Oh and I am a dirty bird because I wouldn't tae her to Turlock to see Big Time Rush in concert. I have been in tears in my room all night. I just am at my wits end.

Sorry I just needed to air out my distress.

Oh Michele, sorry to hear that she's giving you so much trouble. Maybe she's just at that age? When she gets older and more mature I am sure she will realize that the way she acted at 17 wasn't the best way to act and will come to appreciate all the things you do for her.

Basically what I was gonna say Jillian!

Sorry she's giving you so much trouble Michele!

Today is gonna be a long day! Dillon's brother is getting married at noon. Then family photos are after that, then a reception later tonight. Dillon is part of the wedding party, so I will be looking after Seth through the whole thing. So gotta plan out bottles and all that stuff. It should be a lot of fun, but still a lot of work! Lol.

Jillian... you are 5 hours from DL? You must not be too far from me. It took me 5hrs 45 min to drive there the one and only time I did so.... Of course I probably averaged 90mph when I reached the 5 till I hit the Grapevine...

I'm sorry you are going through that Michele.

I have to say that was my brother that gave my parents trouble and not me. I was a homebody all through HS. I went to school and worked and that was about it! If I wanted to do anything I had to come up with the money. I worked from the time I was 16 and I always worked the max hours allowed by the labor laws.

Basically what I was gonna say Jillian!

Enjoy the Wedding. :bride:

I'm so sorry you had a rough one Michele.......that age is so close to being independent but also scared of actually being out on there own. They want it all........freedom to do what they want, to make the decisions they want but still want you there to fund it, transport, make their meals, clean their clothes, etc. From what I've heard it's hardest with the girls. My sons did a little of this but getting "the look" from me, usually took care of it....of course sons hate seeing their mom cry so that worked too.....lol Just remember, even if she doesn't say it.....she's confused, scared & still really needs her mama & loves you. They act out towards the ones they're most comfortable with. So hang in there friend........buckle up as this ride tends to have lots of ups & downs!!

Have fun at the wedding Andrea :)

Paula, yeah I'm about 2 hrs from san Jose... I think it just depends on what freeways connect to my town. From where I live I use 99 until it turns into 5 right before the grapevine when going to DLR. And lots of people like to drive slow on 99 and I depend help that it's 2 lanes most of the way!

Well I am at work. Thankfully I'm not sore at all today. the walk this morning wasn't bad, I had my Disney pandora going so that put me in a good mood :goodvibes

Happy to hear you aren't sore.

The I-5 is mainly 2 lanes as well. I wish it was wider! It's a boring drive though.

Thanks everybody. It helped to be able to vent and not let her see that she got to me. I know this is just a stage but wow let it get over with NOW!

I-5 is pretty boring. Most freeways are pretty boring. I think the least bored I have been on a highway is taking the Pacheco Pass to San Jose. As long as the weather is okay, it makes for an interesting drive, because you get a change of scenery and the road isn't one straight line. I feel like time flies when I drive that. But not at night...too dark! :scared1:

We are always here to help :goodvibes

:wave2: Sorry I haven't been on today. Been feeling down and don't know why. Looking on the bright side: tonight is my last overnight shift and next week I start going in at 3a instead.
