A Veggie and a Meat Lover vs Dlx Dining, June 8-18, Closing Thoughts 11/12

Yay, you've started your dining reviews! :goodvibes I think I love reading about food even more than about weddings. ;)

Great start. We've actually never been to Earl, so I may have to check it out on another trip. My DF is also really picky about bread, but it's good to know that there is a "white-bread" type option and that your DH liked it.

I love Artist Point, we haven't been recently but we'll have to go back sometime soon. That asparagus looks amazing! The gnocchi looks really good too.

Looking forward to hearing more. :)

Congratulations!! You started your marriage off the right way, with a honeymoon in WDW! :thumbsup2

I'm enjoying your review. We had a wonderful experience at AP also. Did you enjoy your stay at WL? Looking forward to reading more.

Count me in! I am a vegetarian, and Artist Point was my favorite meal from our deluxe trip in December. I know you don't like mushrooms, but the Smoky Portabella soup was to die for!

I'm so glad you are doing a dining TR! Your Artist Point meal looks so good! I've always been afraid to eat there, since I thought the menu looked to be focused on read meat. I will definitely be trying it next time I go!

I agree with Sara....I love dining reviews so much, just as much as the wedding TRs!! (maybe more, depending how hungry I am :rotfl:)

haha I feel the same.....I read so many before the honeymoon.

I dont really get why earl is SO popular but it is? Its really good but its just a sandwich place but its always so crowded. Best to go at an off time or eat outside. What is with guys and bread? haha

if you have time during your next trip you should def try and go. I think it will always be on our top of the list.

Thanks! haha we thought so...where better than the happiest place right?
We LOVED the WL. We were back and forth so many time on where to stay but we are so happy we choose WL. it really does have the best themeing and you feel like your home when you come back.

Welcome! I'm sure DH would like it i'll tell him to get it next time. He usually eats my mushrooms off my plate for me hahaha. so He would probably love that.

I have to say they were one of the nicest restaurants about me being a vegetarian. I remember I was a little disappointed that my only choice was asparagus for my app. but I am so glad it was because I probably wouldn't have ordered it otherwise. You should def try and go. Its awesome and very romantic.

Yeah I have to be careful when I read them....or i'll get really hungry!!! hahaha

Great start! I'm really looking forward to reading more.

Congratulations, by the way. You're a very cute couple. :goodvibes

Sorry I'm late popcorn::

Great start to your reviews, we are staying a WL for our next trip and are sooooo excited

We are going to eat at AP for sure :woohoo:

Never too late! Welcome. You should be! the resort is beautiful and the food is really great (in all the restaurants).

Good morning everyone. Work is terribly boring so I am going to keep myself awake by writing this next review! yay! at least something will get done today.

Day 2 Part 1
So our first full day was at MK (because it always HAS to be) So we started it right by eating breakfast at Crystal Palace. This was both of our first time eating here and we were very excited. We checked in a touchy early (as usual..) and there was a good amount of people waiting on the porch, but we were given a buzzer and told it wouldn't be long. We did notice how quicker we got in most places because there was only two of us.

We were seated on the right side of the buffet and there was surprise waiting for us!
IMG_2834.jpg

This made my morning! (i'm easy to make happy!)

Our Waiter came by and explained the way the DLX plan works for buffets. We got two drinks (they automatically give you OJ)
DH got Chocolate Milk
IMG_2841.jpg

and I got Coffee (I am addicted and moody otherwise!)
IMG_2842.jpg

Okay so....it was about 50/50 if restaurants had my dietary request on their slip. Pretty much NO buffets did. So this morning I was like.....oh well I will just deal. I can read, i'm sure they will tell me if there is meat in it and most things are obvious. WRONG!
IMG_2838.jpg

So here is my first plate. Cheesy potato amazingness, French toast (I THINK, it was in the kids section and was called pooh's toast or something like that) Eggs and Salsa (my fave), Mickey Waffles, biscuit, hard boiled egg, and then we have the EVIL potatoes. These are red skinned roasted potatoes. BEWARE! only at crystal palace do they have bacon cooked in with them (why? I have NO idea) There is nothing on the sign and it blends in easily. I did have one potato (luckily no bacon) until i realized it. With some pure luck I did not get sick, but I was totally put off. so my advice. as to be taken around just in case....don't be me.
The food was otherwise very good. Clearly by the name I loved the cheesy potatoes (I even found the recipe!) Everything else was very fresh and yummy! I do feel you need to get the waffles fresh off the maker because they get a little too hard otherwise. These were pretty good if I remember. So all in all I was happy until I found the meat!

DH's plate-o-meat (forgive me if I don't know everything on it)
IMG_2840.jpg

Cheesy potato amazingness, Salmon, evil red skin potatoes, strawberry, croissant, sausage, corn beef hash, bacon. DH said it was pretty good (poor boy humored my breakfast addiction this was before he couldn't handle it anymore) the one thing he didn't like was the bacon. he said Disney has the worst bacon he has ever had? :confused3

I didn't take photos of our second plates. I was afraid to eat a lot because I didn't know if i'd be sick so i probably played it very safe (plate full of cheesy potatoes?!)

IMG_2867.jpg
[/IMG]

I was probably a brat at this point.....I wanted to get out of there and ride rides! Our waiter was MIA for a bit and when he came back I was very much can we please get the check?! Then I felt bad when he came with this

IMG_2868.jpg

awww! DH ate the whole thing hahaha

The food was very good but it was what we would find out the usual Disney buffet. I would go back, if only for the character interactions because they were great. DH would probably whine if I wanted to go back because he couldn't stand these buffet. but he did have fun this day. What did I learn from this? Speak up!! ugh....

Congrats to you both ! Honeymooning in Disney must be a blast! Loving your reviews.:)

Sorry to hear about the potato incident:scared1: I don't really like the lack of explanation in Disney's buffets, so I usually stick to table service. I can't believe Luke doesn't like WDW bacon! It is my favourite! DH and I think they cook it perfectly :rotfl:

DH and I were brought that same cupcake at Ohana during our honeymoon...I guess it is the standard "congrats" cupcake!

Ps. I love the shirts you are sporting at Crystal Palace!

great review! My DF is not so much a fan of the buffets either, but I can usually get him to go to a character meal or two. He didn't love Crystal Palace though and I get too antsy to be missing park time.

I can't believe they put bacon in the potatoes, but Disney bacon is so skimpy, that's probably why you didn't notice at first . I'm glad you noticed in time and didn't get sick, that's really disappointing that they didn't have someone show you around the buffet.

Thank you! We def did have a great time.

I only had the problem at Crystal Palace. Everywhere else I probably could have figured it out from the signs, but I was nervous by that point. Haha I donno he said it was terrible. :confused3
We got it a couple other times through out the trip. I def think its their generic cupcake.
Thanks! it was fun to wear special tshirts the first day.

Yeah I totally agree. I wanted to go run around the park so badly while we were there! hahaha. It was fun tho.

Hahaha. It was def well hidden and because the potatoes are red skinned and seasoned they all blended in. I should have asked for someone to walk around but it was the first day and I was trying to not be difficult. which was silly.

Great review so far. Can't wait for more.

Were are trying Crystal Palace fou lunch our first day..... if we land on time and dont have many hold ups once at Disney, so fingers crossed!

Thanks! I hope you get a chance to eat at CP it is fun.

Day 2 Part 2

So we each got a dole whip for a snack half way through the day.
I got the float

and DH the classic
IMG_2908.jpg

That night we had ADR's at CRT. I was very excited about this meal and I made DH dress up with me for it! We ended up being early and didn't think we'd have time to ride anything before hand sooo we went to see if we could check in early. it was 6:55 and the lady said we can check in at 7.....so we waited the silly 5 mins and checked in. We were led into the waiting hall and got our photo with Cinderella. She was super cute and nice. She asked me if my prince was taking me to a ball because of my dress which was cute. We waited about 15-20 mins and then Cinderella welcomed our party!

It was cool climbing the big staircase into the dining room. it made me more excited. We were seated on the right aisle thats a level up from the window seats. We could still see out the window because we were just by the railing which was nice.
IMG_2921.jpg

I was a little nervous about the food because I had heard some really bad reviews. Our server was pretty quick to come by and take our drink order and let me know the chef would be over shortly to discuss my dietary needs.
I had a diet coke and DH had a coke
IMG_2930.jpg

I loved the goblets.

The chef came by and offered to make me pretty pasta and grilled veggies. which didn't send me. I asked if I had any other options. He said they could do a combo platter of all the different sides and such. This sounded best to me so i went with that. For App. my option was just the salad, the spring rolls I had seen on the menu online were not there?

DH got BLT Salad - Applewood Smoked Bacon, Tomato, Egg, Red Onion, and a wedge of Iceberg Lettuce drizzled with Roasted Shallot Vinaigrette
IMG_2932.jpg

DH said this was very good.
and I had Castle Salad - Mixed Field Greens with Blue Cheese, Raspberries and Herb Gremolata tossed in Berry Vinaigrette
IMG_2936.jpg

Now I had never had blue cheese.....I am weird when it comes to cheese and don't like all cheeses...but this was my only option and most meatless salads at Disney have blue cheese. I have to say the salad was very good and the cheese didn't both me at all! It was a nice fresh start to the meal.

The server came back to give me this...
IMG_2937.jpg

which I was VERY happy about. I had planned to ask if they didn't give me one! haha and we got the better one in my opinion because half the restaurant got the light blue ones that don't say CRT! well....because I got a wand....I needed to request that DH got a sword because I knew he wouldn't! I think he was happy I did!
IMG_2939.jpg

I have also heard of characters being weird here when you aren't a child...but everyone who came over to us was so nice and chatty. One weird thing about how they do the characters here....there was times when we had no one even near us and then other times we had three all together. so its not very organized like CP was.
This is my plate of random. Pretty much every side from all the meals.
IMG_2940.jpg

I have to say I really enjoyed this! I loved having so many choices and it was really good. I was happily surprised.

DH got Lemon Lavender Chicken - on Mashed Potatoes served with Wilted Spinach and a Chicken Jus
IMG_2941.jpg

DH LOVED this. he devoured it.

IMG_2946.jpg

the interaction with Ariel was the best. Our wedding was beached themed with little mermaid details. She was so nice and asked me all about our wedding and even wanted to see pictures! She spent a lot of time with us. It was very special.

IMG_2950.jpg

I really love the theming of this restaurant. it is so special to be in the castle and all the cool details

for dessert we both got Chocolate Cream Cheese Buckle - A single layer of Chocolate Cake stuffed with Cream Cheese topped with Créme Chantily and finished with Créme Anglaise Sauce
IMG_2953.jpg

I had been looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. Yum Yum.

We had a wonderful time at CRT. The service was great, our waiter was very attentive without being annoying. The characters were great and so was the food. I guess this place is hit or miss? We will def be going back, maybe for breakfast next time!

That asparagus at Artist Point looks delicious!! We have a close-up picture of the asparagus we had at Le Cellier on our honeymoon in our honeymoon scrapbook because I thought it was the best I had ever had - I think Artist Point might top it.

Cute dress in the CRT pics! My DH and I are starting a tradition this year for our 1st anniversary of saying our vows to each other every year at interesting places and making a scrapbook of our adventures. This year, we're going back to Disney and I thought about wearing a little white dress in the parks for the pic of our stealth vow renewal, but I was worried about wearing all white in the parks as I thought I would surely get it dirty. Looks like you did it with ease! I think I will have to try it :goodvibes

First off..Congratulations! :wizard:I am enjoying reading your awesome reviews! I still have not dined at CRT, and after reading your review, I really need to go on one of our next trips! I can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

Great reviews so far. Congratulations on your wedding :)
