After a nice refreshing swim we got ready to head to Magic Kingdom where we were planning to spend the rest of the evening.
We got to Magic Kingdom around 5 o clock and headed straight to Columbia Harbor house for dinner. Not without stopping for a few pictures in front of the Castle and a visit with Tinker Bell though.
We didnt want to waste too much time though because we knew that it was prime dinner time and it was going to be packed. However, once we got there it was nearly empty. We were able to get our food and find a nice table upstairs that faced the Haunted Manson. My sister got the fish platter, which is just the fish and fries if I remember correctly. I got the yummy Lighthouse Sandwich without the Broccoli Slaw and Potato Chip. Disney has changed the brand of kettle chips that they use, but there were still good. Sorry about the picture, it doesnt look that appetizing but it really is delicious.
As we were leaving we noticed that we had arrived just on time as we saw a large tour group lined up trying to place orders. Once we were out we thought about doing the haunted mansion, but the line was over 30 minutes. We knew that this was a fluke and wandered into Fantasyland until it shortened.
We went to go on Small World (as no trip to MK is complete without it) and nearly fell over. The board outside was reading 60 minutes, thats one whole hour people. We thought this was really strange but when we look in there were people everywhere so we thought that this might really be the case. However, as we were about to walk away another group asked the attendant about the wait time. She said that they were having difficulties and the wait time was really only 10 minutes. Okay, thats more like it. So we got in line. The reason that it looked like so many people was that they had changed the line since the last time that I was there. The line not goes done the former exit ramp and the exit is where the line was. The Handicap line is back where the line used to be and I wouldnt be surprised if that line really was 60 minutes. There had to be 12 wheelchairs at the time and even if you can transfer they still make you wait for the special boats (there is only ever 2 max running at a time as far as I know).
Once we completed our trip around the world we decided it was time to visit the local haunts. As we were walking back to Liberty Square my sister asked me if I wanted to go through the regular line as it moves quicker or if I wanted to take the scenic route. We had some time to kill and I had heard that they had put a few cool things in the queue so I suggested the scenic route. I cannot tell you how amused I was to walk up and see it actually called The Scenic Route.
Im not sure how many people use this phase on a regular basis but we do, so I had thought she was just using the phase. I know that this is probably much more entertaining to me that all of you so I move on. lol
I was surprised at the number of changes to the area and was quite amused with it. I though the changes to the end of the ride though were really fun, I was very amused by them. I wont go into details as they are better as surprises, but if you havent done the ride with the changes it is well worth it.
Once we left the ghosts safely behind (at least we think so) we decided it was time to hang out with some funny monsters.
This show was really funny. We have scene it a number of times before, but this time was one of the best. You know the section where they start asking ppl were they were from. Well this women was selected and she started flirting shamelessly with the monster on stage. It was so great...the monsters played along too, well as much as you can in the magic kingdom.
After we decided to take a tour of tomorrowland on the people mover (so glad they changed the name back PS). While riding, my sister mentioned that she had heard that you could see the Fantasyland construction from the train. Since there is no longer a stop in Toontown we made our way back to the front of the park to catch it on Main St. When we arrived at the train station the train was already there. My sister kept trying to get me to hurry up but I wanted to stop for a quick movie. I was able to fit one in before we had to catch the train, but wouldnt you know I cant remember which one it was. It was the one farthest to the right when looking out of the park if anyone knows.
So we began our journey around the park. It was a nice little rest as I have not rode the train in a few trips. Turns out the you cant see that much as the walls are fairly high. I cant wait until the construction is done!
After the train ride we had about an hour and a half before the parade. We decided to walk around and hunt out some pre-parade treats. We stopped in the Main St Confectionary, my sister took a little bit to decide and while we were waiting we talked to the cast members (there wasnt a line). I took this time to double check that they didnt have anything vegan. I figured if you have the chance there is no harm in asking, even if you are fairly sure of the answer, as menus do change. She settled on the chocolate covered marshmallows with M&Ms.
Since there was nothing here for me I decided that I wanted popcorn. We went and saved curb seats for the parade, then I went and hunted down a popcorn cart. Since this is Disney I didnt have to walk to far from our seat as there was a cart about 20 ft away. Popcorn and maps in hand I went back to take a seat and wait. Now whether this should be encouraged or not is hard to say (that whole wasting paper thing), but I always grab a couple of map to sit on while we wait. They make the perfect ground covers and keep you from sitting in anything yucky that you couldnt see. We still had about an hr so we just chatted while we waited.
We did see this poor cast member in the mean time. There was the little girl, I would say around 8, who was just crazy and her parents didnt care. The cast member was one of the ones that keep the crowds regulated before parade. No people sitting in the walkways you know the ones. Well, this little girl would not leave her alone. She kept grabbing her hand and making her run around and dance and spin with her. The cast member, being the proper Disney type let her, though she very politely in the best Disney way did keep trying to encourage her to sit with her family. I cannot begin to tell you how hot it was that night either, so running around was not a nice thing. Now I know that there are cast members that are there to entertain the kids before the show, but she was not one and the little girl wouldnt let her give attention to anyone else either. The parents were just happy to let the cast member babysit her so they didnt have to watch her, so not what they are there for. Ok, rant done
Eventually the parade started. I do like the Main St Electrical Parade more than Spectromagic. The music and the floats as nicer, but that is just my opinion. Oh I forgot to mention. While we were waiting my sister disappears for a minute and comes back with a birthday pin for me as it was my birthday on this trip. I was totally into the parade and watching what was going on when I hear Happy Birthday Lindsay. I was totally thrown. One of the Donkeys from Pinocchio was wishing me a happy birthday. I have never had a celebration on a trip before so I thought that was really neat. I was so surprised that he could see it enough to actually catch the name too.
Once the parade was over we made our way down Main St to try to get a view of the Castle show that takes place before the fireworks. The show is music and video projected onto the castle. There are no words to describe how amazing it was so im not even going to try. All I have to say is go see it, plan a special trip to FL if you have to, it was just that good. The standard Wishes are back and after the castle show were a bit of a letdown, not gonna lie. I really We have seen this many times before so we moved back to the end of Main St so that we could make a quick exit after the show. After watch the bus come for just about every other resort one of the ppl waiting in the AKL line asked one of the attendants about a bus for us, finally one arrived and we were on our way back to the resort.
