A Vacation From My Problems (A Sept. 2010 Trip Report) - COMPLETED 12/14

Not if my asking for more cheese soup and then another piece of cake is not bad. ;)

Of course not! I think this merely proves you're alive. :lmao:

What a great day at World Showcase. My kids always loved Epcot (sometimes more than the MK), but I still wish they had something like this when they were younger. :sad2:

Can't wait to hear about the next day.

Well, we're not quite done with this day yet. Still have some magic left. :wizard:

I wish they had the spy missions when I was younger! Can't wait to see what the imagineers come up with next.

Move over to about 3:20 in the clip...confirmed!!!

Nice job!

Hmmmm... you definitely have me stumped. Are we talking 2 Oscars for best leading actor?

I can't seem to come up with any movies that even meet the criteria of your clues.

No. He won once for Best Leading Actor, and another for Best Supporting Actor.

By the way, congratualtions Andy! You win a surprise BONUS POINT for being the 1,000th post on my TR!

Thank you! Always glad to have a bonus point. :thumbsup2

I assume trennr got the point on the old quote. I thought from day 1 that it looked like a line that came out of a movie, I just couldn't confirm it. My extensive research just pinpointed Glory as the movie that matches your clues, but unfortunately, I just didn't get to it before trennr... and he complains about the monkey and meerkat. I've never seen that one, maybe I need to add it to the Netflix queue.

hmmm...I don't watch nor care for the oscars...as they usually pick the worst movie and award it.

Except Forrest Gump...they got that right. :thumbsup2

I don't typically follow them, either. For the same reason: the movies I like never win. I can't spend 5 hours watching the show, either.

They did get Gladiator right as well. But I think Shakespeare In Love beat Saving Private Ryan one year, and that was pretty much it as far as my interest in the awards went.

I brought up the Oscars in this case because it was hard to give clues about the actor without just naming him.

I ran for President...I didn't win, though. ----Denzel Washington GLORY

And look at that. You were able to find him anyway.

Yeah, he got it. And Glory is a terrific movie. Well worth the time. Denzel won the Oscar, but I think Morgan Freeman actually steals the show.

And here I was, reading through all of the Crimson Tide quotes. Good job.

I suspected that "I ran for President" line from the moment I first saw it, but couldn't find it anywhere.

I suspected that "I ran for President" line from the moment I first saw it, but couldn't find it anywhere.

I was thinking that was the quote too - it' didn't trigger anything in my "research". Then after the two-time oscar winner clue all I could think of was Tom Hanks (I didn't think about it not being lead actor :headache:). So, not bieng familiar with "Philadelphia" I re-read the report looking for "Forrest Gump" lines. Well, when you are thinking like Forrest Gump - everything sounds like a Forrest Gump line

But I still managed to pull off 3 points in the next round - so, while I'm nowhere near Glenn and RAfiki - I am closing in on double digits! :cheer2::cheer2:

Any TR where Glenn is a superstar on the game involved, I must be a part of ;) Just read the intro and sounds like an amazing trip! I'm also going to check out your cruise TR. Thinking of taking a Disney cruise end of 2011 so I want to get as much info as possible! I'm with your son on Chip & Dale. They're one of my fav characters :thumbsup2

:lmao: thanks for the pitty point mark. ill take it!!! nice update in there by the way. what is the record for the longest trip report? this may go into trip report 2 if this keeps up.

Here's a point just for trying.

+1 :thumbsup2

Ah...music to my ears--taking the time to comment on the TR deserves a bonus point!

+1 :thumbsup2

Whoa, whoa....you're randomly handing out point now?! What is this TR coming to? And you're making fun of MY points system?! You're cheapening the exchange rate! -100 for you

Thank you! I'll be here all week.

--Mike Wazowski, Monsters, Inc.

There. Now give me a useless point.

Oh....and I love you.

Don't say that around KatMark. She will insist they're not stupid. :lmao:

We didn't really want to wait around for our kids to color, either. The stamps and personal messages were a way to get some good interaction with the natives of those countries. Although the guy in France wrote something to my daughter about being a "true Princess", or something. Dude, slow down. She's not dating till she's 30, and I have my shotgun. :rotfl2:

I've never tried the pressed pennies. I tend to pinch mine instead. (rim shot) Thank you! I'll be here all week.

Do I get extra points if I laugh?

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::happytv:

We liked the pressed pennies because I don't think there are many Disney souvenirs that cost 51 cents. She headed to a couple of the pressed quarter machines and I headed her off quickly. At $1.25 each, those are a bit out of my price range. What does she think I am? Made of money?

And according to my husband, our daughters are not dating until they are 30 either. The only problem with that is that means they are both going to be living at home until that time so he can watch over them. I'd like to enjoy my old age at some point...I think.

The Kimpossible missions are probably one of the coolest things I've ever done... Is that sad?:goodvibes My 12 year old son is kind of over it but I make him do at least one mission with me on every trip.

Have you heard any rumors about Disney maybe changing it from Kimpossible to the Kingdom Keepers? It would be great to have all new missions sometime soon!

Oh my gosh. I have never laughed so hard :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Your TR has some of the funniest stuff I have read in a while. The Beverly contest was the BEST. Especially Marv's comment:

"Like reading a glennbo trip report, only better!"

:lmao:

I've caught up as far as Day 6 and loving every word. WL is my fav deluxe resort too! And I can totally relate to the christmas tree collapsing from all the ornaments. Oh my.... too funny. :rotfl:

Since Le Cellier is, well, a cellar, there was no cell phone reception in there.
OOHHH!!! That's what it means! I was about to go look it up in my Canadian/English dictionary. Thanks for saving me the effort.:thumbsup2
And you thought I just wasted my brain cells on movie trivia.
Oh Mark. We all know you waste brain cells on sooo much more than just movies. :rotfl2:

Part of our mission took us to the beautiful flower garden, where we had to gather some crucial intel before some crusty old guy came out and yelled, "Get off my lawn!"
ME!

This was a Slazenger Number 1.
Goldfinger

This was one of our favorite missions. It was a lot of fun, and of course we succeeded in saving yet another country. Here, Sarah poses with two of the MI-6 agents who assisted us. Their identities have been obscured to protect them in the field.

IMG_5457.JPG
Umm...that one agent isn't wearing any pants. (And MI-6 refers to the Bond movies. Not sure if anyone else mentioned that or not)

After saving France,
Let's see - Every WWII movie ever made? USA! USA! USA!

Not that I really know much about rhythm--after all, I'm a nerdy white guy.
Brother! :wave2:

Honey, write that one down on the Next Time list, too.
Got it, dear.
Oh? The other "honey." Well, this is embarrassing.

and decided she needed an authentic German cowbell. I mean, doesn't everybody? Sometimes you have a disease, and the only cure is more cowbell. I will say this: she rings it every day at dinnertime, and the kids are invariably at the table within 15 seconds. Works better than yelling ever did.
Also works well if you happen to attend any Nordic skiing competitions on Mt. Delaware.

Our final mission was in Mexico, and at this point our Kimmunicator-inator gave up the ghost.
I Googled "gave up the ghost" and a quote from Sex and the City came up. I don't want that point.

After a fitting conclusion to our work in Mexico, we congratulated ourselves on a job well done. We returned our phone to the secret dead-drop location.
Nice job team!

And Scotty said he needed to go poopies.
Speaking of which...be right back.

Last week when I was there (I love being able to say that) there were a couple women walking by and one of them stopped and looked at the sign for Le Cellier that's out by the walkway. She hollered over to the other one kind of a "hey, what's this" kind of thing. The other one glanced up at the sign and said "Oh, its just an old ice cellar - nothing you'd want to see" :confused3 I wonder how much good stuff they missed on this trip based on her rapid mis-assumptions of what things were. :sad2:

Figured I should conform to the theme of the TR.

Mitch Robbins: Have you ever had that feeling that this is the best I'm ever gonna do, this is the best I'm ever gonna feel... and it ain't that great?
Station Manager: Happy Birthday.

Crimson Tide...another good movie. Not as many quotable lines, though, from what I can remember.

I was thinking that was the quote too - it' didn't trigger anything in my "research". This is a worthy accomplishment in and of itself! :thumbsup2

:welcome:

Glad to have you aboard! I'd better get over to the cruise report and tidy the place up. There are cobwebs and dust bunnies everywhere.

:lmao: thanks for the pitty point mark. ill take it!!! nice update in there by the way. what is the record for the longest trip report? this may go into trip report 2 if this keeps up.

Nah, I'm not even close. Glennbo's trip report is over 180 pages now. :worship::worship:

Whoa, whoa....you're randomly handing out point now?! What is this TR coming to? And you're making fun of MY points system?! You're cheapening the exchange rate! -100 for you

See that? All those Knowitall points I earned through cleaning the table, emptying the dishwasher, giving backrubs...gone, just like that.

Love you too, babe. Here's a useless point.

Crimson Tide...another good movie. Not as many quotable lines, though, from what I can remember.

If I'm wrong, then we're at war; God help us all.

You saying that's not quotable??? Man, that one would have been a great quote for a spy mission scenario. I thought you were better than that.:rolleyes1

Do I get extra points if I laugh?

Blatantly kissing up to the judges might have been rewarded, but others already tried that with my wife when she came aboard.

We liked the pressed pennies because I don't think there are many Disney souvenirs that cost 51 cents. She headed to a couple of the pressed quarter machines and I headed her off quickly. At $1.25 each, those are a bit out of my price range. What does she think I am? Made of money?

I never knew that Disney also had Value, Moderate and Deluxe pressed-penny machines. You learn something new every day! :rotfl2:

And according to my husband, our daughters are not dating until they are 30 either. The only problem with that is that means they are both going to be living at home until that time so he can watch over them. I'd like to enjoy my old age at some point...I think.

Well, we dads can get a little crazy over daddy's little girls. I totally get where he's coming from.

I don't know of any plans to change over to Kingdom Keepers--I'm not sure Disney "owns" that series like they do with Kim Possible. Still, we thought it was great that you could have fun without ever having seen any of the show.

Oh my gosh. I have never laughed so hard :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Your TR has some of the funniest stuff I have read in a while. The Beverly contest was the BEST. Especially Marv's comment:

:thanks:

I'm glad you're enjoying it so much! That's very flattering. And you have excellent taste in deluxe resorts! :thumbsup2

We don't talk much about past Christmas tree experiences anymore... :headache:

OOHHH!!! That's what it means! I was about to go look it up in my Canadian/English dictionary. Thanks for saving me the effort.:thumbsup2

I didn't know you spoke Canadian! Can you look up "hoser" in the dictionary? I don't know enough Canadian yet. I'm still learning to speak whale.

Oh Mark. We all know you waste brain cells on sooo much more than just movies. :rotfl2:

Darn right. :thumbsup2

Hey, wait a minute...

Goldfinger

+1 :thumbsup2

I wasn't sure anyone would get that one. Nice work.

Umm...that one agent isn't wearing any pants. (And MI-6 refers to the Bond movies. Not sure if anyone else mentioned that or not)

I don't think they did, maybe the fact that it's a real agency confused them. In any case, I'll give it to you.

+1 :thumbsup2

I assume that's Bond without the pants.

Let's see - Every WWII movie ever made? USA! USA! USA!

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I have to give you a bonus point for making me laugh so hard my coffee came out my nose.

+1 :thumbsup2

Got it, dear.
Oh? The other "honey." Well, this is embarrassing.

Oh boy. Um...

What are we talking about?

Also works well if you happen to attend any Nordic skiing competitions on Mt. Delaware.

The Nordic part is by necessity. We all know there wouldn't be any "downhill" competitions in Delaware. By the way, Mt. Delaware is the top of my driveway.

I Googled "gave up the ghost" and a quote from Sex and the City came up. I don't want that point.

<shudder>

Speaking of which...be right back.

Do you need a newspaper or anything?

Last week when I was there (I love being able to say that)

Sure, rub it in, why don't you?

there were a couple women walking by and one of them stopped and looked at the sign for Le Cellier that's out by the walkway. She hollered over to the other one kind of a "hey, what's this" kind of thing. Goodness. :sad2:

I suppose they also walk past Expedition Everest and say, "Oh, what a pretty model mountain. Well, let's get back to the hotel and see if there's any coffee left in the lobby."

Figured I should conform to the theme of the TR.

Mitch Robbins: Have you ever had that feeling that this is the best I'm ever gonna do, this is the best I'm ever gonna feel... and it ain't that great?
Station Manager: Happy Birthday.

Thanks, Barry! I suppose I could have replied with, "I crap bigger than you, son." but that doesn't seem appropriate.

It was a funny line, though.

If I'm wrong, then we're at war; God help us all.

You saying that's not quotable??? Man, that one would have been a great quote for a spy mission scenario. I thought you were better than that.:rolleyes1

I stand corrected, and am now hanging my head in shame.
