Thanks! This was valuable information related to this thread.

You could always make a large quarterly estimates payment in order to get the amazon bonus.

Sorry. I just don't understand why people give the government an interest free loan. No bank would ever give me an interest free loan so why should I??? :confused3

Interesting on the bonus....I never would have thought about getting part of my refund as an Amazon gift card....but that is where I spend all my money.....

Since we have Amazon Prime, I already knew about the special offer. Very tempting. Unfortunately, we'll probably use our refund to pay down debt.

However, since we have Prime, we order from Amazon on a weekly basis. So a free gift card is...well tempting.

I adore Prime. And free shipping. And the wide selection on Amazon. And my Kindle. And the Kindle Lending Library. And Kindle First. And all the amazing self-published authors putting all those books up for sale at reasonable prices. :woohoo:

The Turbo Tax deal is very good, if your refund isn't going to be too big. Unfortunately my back-of-napkin math indicates (due to some unusual circumstances) that ours is going to be big enough this year that I don't think I want it all tied up with Amazon, even for the 10% bonus.

The way I read it you don't have to put the full amount onto the card. I thought it could be split---like put $500 on the card.

" When you file, you can also get a bonus 10% on your refund if you take it as an Amazon gift card. "

I take this to mean that you must take your refund as an Amazon gift card to get the bonus. I did not read anywhere that you can split it and only put part as the gift card. Maybe I missed that part?

Thanks for posting. This is a great offer, so far the $39 price is the best I have seen.

It looks like you don't have to use your entire refund on a gift card to get the 10% bonus. Here are the details from Turbo Tax.

How It Works

Before you prepare to send your returns in the File section of TurboTax, you can choose to use part of your federal refund to purchase an Amazon.com Gift Card and get your bonus in just 3 simple steps:

Choose any increment of $100 from your federal tax refund to purchase an Amazon.com Gift Card. The remainder of your refund will be deposited to your bank account.
TurboTax will automatically give you an extra 5% or 10% on your e-gift card.
As soon as your refund is available, we’ll email you your Amazon.com Gift Card claim code. There are NO fees and your gift card never expires.
Shop on Amazon.com and choose from millions of items storewide. It’s so easy and doesn’t cost you a thing.

From the site:Receive up to 10% on top of your Federal Tax Refund
when you file with TurboTax and use some (or all) of your Federal Refund to purchase an Amazon.com Gift Card from TurboTax.

The last few years I have just bought the Turbo Tax basic version. It is about $10 less than the deluxe version. Since my taxes are about the same every year I don't need any of the features that the deluxe provides.
