Thanks! I knew the pics would help. hehe :goodvibes

So cool that you got to see them!! Hope you had fun!

By the way I subscribed to your TR but I'm going to have to take a look at it later. My, my I have been DISing WAY too long tonight. I have got to look away from this computer.
I posted the 2nd half of Grandma Story #2 just after you posted. Just look up^ :)

Dear Lord...hope grandma was okay after that day old bacon!

Herschel Walker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:sad1:
BOY I MISS HIM ON MY EAGLES!

(I figured I should start titling these now to separate them from current day stuff)

Oh lookie, I have a short one for you. This one involves my grandfather. It’s a bit embarrassing….

While eating lunch at Toy Story Pizza Planet…sitting outside enjoying each other’s company, a woman walks by. (as I’m sure there were many of them, as well as men. It was a very busy day) But apparently this woman was not like the rest. I couldn’t believe my ears when my grandpa exclaims, “Wow, that woman was very well endowed!” I know she had to have heard, but she kept on walking. I was appalled! No one really knew what to do at this point. We were all silent for a moment, and then my sister (13 at the time) said “Well, now we know what PawPaw looks at every time a woman passes” We all had to laugh after she said that. :lmao: No one else said anything about it and we just finished our meal. I will NEVER forget that day at Pizza Planet.

That reminds me....
That morning, he also made us wait for ToT. (We all tried to stick together, and he didn't have a cell phone). We walk into MGM, and are about to high-tail it over there, when he stops...Where's pawpaw? And we hear him...."ooh, Lemonade!" --he runs over, gets some lemonade, and proceeds to speak to the lemonade salesperson for 15 minutes!!!! We can't take him ANYWHERE without him stopping like 18 million times. Which is why I'm reluctant to meet up with him at the parks on the 20th (but the good thing is we will already see all the 4 parks before the 20th, so that's our full "free day") Don't get me wrong, I love my Grandpa and am thankful that he "Disneyfied" me at a young age and made my childhood years so much fun. (He used to pay for the grandchildren to go to WDW) It's just he has gone a little crazy over the years, as many grandparents tend to do.

Up next.....Just some small tidbits from the trip, I don't think I have any more *real* stories.......or do I?

NEXT: Disney 2001 Rewind: Part 4 - the Saga of Grandma, more funny tidbits

I have a hard time making decisions. And I keep wanting to change my mind. So I need some help here. I'm now thinking of changing to 50's Prime Time instead of Sci Fi Dine in. I need some feedback, though, since I've never been to either one. Which is better: Sci Fi or 50's Prime Time for dinner?

thanks in advance for the help!
I've been to both. While I love Sci-Fi, we really only like it for lunch and having just burgers and fries. We go for the atmosphere really. We have been to 50s twice and the food was good both times. The first time was the best because of our cousin server was the best in the whole place. The next 2 times our server was just average. If I were you, I would choose 50s for dinner.

(((Oh geez, I just googled "Alice in Wonderland" for images, and one of the images that came up was a cross-dressing Alice. Niiiiiice.))
Well, that would have made for an interesting update! :lmao:

I want to make comments about your itinerary but I gotta go right now. I'll be back to post later...

These are some tidbits from trip…
(Most of these…alright, ALL of these…are about Grandma)

-When we went to Blizzard Beach, my grandmother brought a bag the size of a suitcase! My dad rented a Family Locker. And I wish I had a picture of him stuffing that bag in there….it was PRICELESS! I don’t know how in the world he got that thing to close, but he did it.
-The reason for her big bag? Well, ESSENTIALS of course! Every ointment you can think of…she had it. Clothes, shoes, a gigantic towel, sunscreen, a hat, just to name a few items. The strangest ones are listed below…
-My friend got a small cut on her leg, and Grandma insisted she put some liquid band-aid on it. Except it wasn’t in its original packaging---she had put some in an old NAIL POLISH CONTAINER! We told her that wasn’t a bright idea, considering that nail polish is toxic and I cannot fathom being able to possibly clean every trace of it out of that little bottle, not to mention the polishing wand. (And who CLEANS out a nail polish bottle for reuse, anyway?!) My poor friend had to “pretend” to use it because my Grandma wouldn’t let up. Then I gave her a regular band-aid.
-She had also brought peroxide in an eye dropper. ??? Are you thinking, “What’s wrong with this woman?” yet?
-She rented a wheel chair a couple of days because she had problems walking for a long period of time, and at one point we had to go downstairs (don’t remember where it was) but dad went with her on the elevator while we took the stairs. He said instead of driving straight into the elevator…she attempts to back the thing up. He said she almost hit 3 people, (actually I think she hit one of them), bumped into the wall twice, and was yelling for everyone around to get out of the way. LOL

-There is more, but I’ll stop here.

And the MAIN reason for me telling you all of this? So that I can say THANK GOD I'M NOT GOING WITH THEM!!!

Mike and I are going to have a fantabulastic time! (I made that word up :rolleyes1 ) First time that it's just the 2 of us! I've been thinking of all the benefits. Aside from the fact that we can go where we want when we want, and get ready faster, etc. We can stop and take lots of pictures (like CourtneyandRyan), get onto rides faster (we have always had 6-15 people in our group in the past), get seats on the bus, ummm....have alone time (ahem), and I'm sure there's more that I can't think of right now. I'm just so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
51 days to go!!!!! :dance3:

NEXT: Disney Rewind 2001: Can't leave out Grandpa, now can we?

I'm SO tempted to get this luggage at disneyshopping.com

Here is a pic:
suitcase.jpg

I love the charcoal color. Only $59.00 right now....wait a second, it just went up to $79.50! How strange!!! Oh well, not meant to be for sure. Maybe when it goes back down (and I know it will). I was thinking $60.00 is really good deal---the only bad thing is I'd have to pay shipping b/c it's not eligible for any of the free shipping offers. (I'm really cheap, can you tell?!) I can get 4% back at Sunshine Rewards if I buy it...so that gives me more incentive. And I got that check from the IRS...hmmmmmmmm
Did I mention I am a bargain hunter? Mike is the same way...he can't resist a good clearance! He bought a fire pit for the back patio the other day because it was on sale for like $20.00! I have to admit it does look really nice back there, and will come in handy in the winter---the whole 2 weeks of it. :rotfl:

Hey Cheri! I've been reading your report all along and I thought I had posted to you but apparently I hadn't! Sorry about that! Better late then never right? :thumbsup2

Love the grandparents stories! The bacon in the purse story so could be my grandmother! She always has food in small baggies in her purse! It scares me sometimes!

Just found ya (from your "shameless plug") don't have time to catch up now, but will later!

So since the actual itinerary got broken up into several posts, I want to recap here (with *MUCH* less detail):

Day 1 (arrival day) Sept 15th- TBD
- 2 CS credits for dinner?
Okay shoot me now because I can't remember where you're staying and I'm too lazy to go back and look...

Day 2 (First full day)
MAGIC KINGDOM

- Catch the bus and arrive at MK 30 min. b4 rope drop (which means 8:30)
- Have a crazy good time
- Eat counterservice for lunch at either Cosmic Ray’s or Pecos Bill - 2 CS Credits (UG also said Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station is good—anyone agree?)
- Break in the afternoon if we feel we need it
- Dinner at California Grill 5:40 PM – 4 TS Credits
- See Wishes (either from CG or the MK park)
- Possibly go to Pleasure Island
A good bang for your buck on the DDP is at Cosmic Ray's. You can get the ribs & chicken meal for 1 CS!! I think you'll be too pooped to go to Pleasure Island later. Well, I know I would be!

Day 3 (Sept 17th)
MGM STUDIOS DAY

- Catch the bus and be at MGM 30 min. b4 opening (8:30)
- Go wild!
- Eat an early/light CS lunch at Starring Rolls Café or Backlot Express (still wondering if we’ll actually need to use 2 CS credits here, or if we can get away with one....any thoughts?)
- Early dinner at Sci-Fi Dine in at 4:05 PM – 2 TS Credits (still want a later time; subject to change)
- Probably take a short break
- Evening EMH for MGM!!
Not allowed to go wild here. Save the wild for Animal Kingdom.. (I am so funny). Still my suggestion would be to change to 50s Prime Time for dinner. Or go to Sci-Fi at lunch time!

Day 4 (Sept 18th)
EPCOT

- Opens at 8 AM for EMH
- If we are not too sleepy, catch the bus to make EMH
- Have a blast in Future World
- Have lunch at Electric Umbrella, Tangierine Café(Morocco), or Yakitori House (Japan) (any other suggestions?) -- 2 CS credits
- Tour the WS
- Possibly take an afternoon break
- Dinner is planned for 7:10 at Les Chefs de France, though I’m still trying to get Le Cellier. – 2 TS Credits
- Watch Illuminations (if not, than tomorrow)
- Head back to the hotel with the masses
- Possibly Pleasure Island if we haven’t been there yet
Electric Umbrella is ho-hum food. If you just want someplace to get a burger or chicken tenders or something like that fast, then it's a good spot. If you can get Le Cellier, GET IT! Try calling every day, maybe even twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Use the 800 #.

Day 5 (Sept 19th)
ANIMAL KINGDOM

- Catch the bus and be at AK 30 min before opening (8:30)
- Have a relaxing BUT exciting time at AK
- Have lunch at our absolute FAVORITE Disney CS (so far)—Flame Tree BBQ – 2 CS Credits
- AK has EMH this evening (so it’s open until 8 PM)
- At about 6 we’ll hop to Epcot (unless we’re ready before the regular closing time)
- Dinner at 7:20 at the Garden Grill. Yay! Mickey and Chip and Dale! -- 2 TS Credits
- If we didn’t see Illuminations the night before, we’ll stay this night to watch.
- Go back to the hotel and take a dip in the pool
I had a great fruit plate at Flame Tree. It was the best one I've ever had. I shared it with my kids. Oh, did you want to borrow them? :rolleyes1 Garden Grill was good when we went. Try to ask for the lower level!

Day 6 (Sept 20th)
WHATEVER DAY

- Now that we’ve had 4 full days in the parks, now we have a day where we can return to the parks where we want to “repeat-ride”, and/or go to Typhoon Lagoon (Did BB the last 3 visits to WDW)
- For the morning, I'm leaning toward getting to Typhoon Lagoon at 10, doing a couple of rides, and relaxing in the lazy river
- Maybe have lunch with my Grandpa (and relatives from Philly who I haven’t seen in a LONG time) somewhere. 2 CS credits
- Dinner at Spoodles for 5:10 (subject to change) -- 2 TS Credits
- Go to Downtown Disney
I liked Spoodles back in 2003. If you're going to DTD, unless you have your heart set on Spoodles, try Raglan Road. We LOVED this place!

Day 7 (Sept 21st) Departure day
-I wish I had more time! We’re going to do what we can (I’m already 90% sure we’ll have an afternoon flight) before it’s time to go. I’ll do everything in my power to make the last day as magical as possible! I would love to see the MK and Epcot again. No ADR’s on this day, so we don’t have to work around any time schedule but the flight. Such a sad, sad day.
Aw. It's always sad to see the last day...

Thanks for the replies, y'all! (sorry, you gotta deal with the southern slang...can't help it!)

Hey Cheri! I've been reading your report all along and I thought I had posted to you but apparently I hadn't! Sorry about that! Better late then never right? :thumbsup2

Ah...my first lurker coming out. ;) Thanks for posting! It's never too late!

In baggies, huh? That is scary!

Just found ya (from your "shameless plug") don't have time to catch up now, but will later!

teeheehee (so glad it worked!) :rotfl2: thanks!

Okay shoot me now because I can't remember where you're staying and I'm too lazy to go back and look...

Sorry, should've mentioned it again in the recap. (I guess I forgot since I don't have all the flight stuff/check in time, etc.) I will go back and add the hotel info.

A good bang for your buck on the DDP is at Cosmic Ray's. You can get the ribs & chicken meal for 1 CS!! I think you'll be too pooped to go to Pleasure Island later. Well, I know I would be!

I know I've eaten there before, I just can't remember what I had. Chicken and ribs sound pretty good--do they have potato salad? (I must be hungry now)

We'll see about Pleasure Island. I'll get there one of those nights. :)

Not allowed to go wild here. Save the wild for Animal Kingdom.. (I am so funny). Still my suggestion would be to change to 50s Prime Time for dinner. Or go to Sci-Fi at lunch time!

good one! I'm still so torn. I wish I had a tally of how many good/bad reviews I have read from both of those restaurants. They just seem like a hit or miss. I'm the type of person that thinks "things happen for a reason" SO I'll call and see which one can get us in between 5-7 (IF at all) and whichever one has availability first, that's what I'll choose. I have heard that it's best to wait for a TV table at 50's though. So that's what I'll do if we go there. What should I order?

I'll keep trying!

You're my second offer on the kids! TimandLesley are the other. Tell ya what, we'll do a drawing! Who else wants in?

didn't know there were levels. :confused3

I liked Spoodles back in 2003. If you're going to DTD, unless you have your heart set on Spoodles, try Raglan Road. We LOVED this place!

Is it on the DDP?

See? Shameless plugs work!!! :thumbsup2

YUP!!!! :woohoo:

The pot roast looks really good and Courtney loves it. She went twice in her last trip!

I think Lesley may win because I have 3 kids. That's more difficult to handle...:dance3:

Is Raglan Road [*sic] on the DDP?
It absolutely is! :thumbsup2

I'm thinking Meatloaf...

Yeah you are right!

I am already indecisive enough and here you go putting more dining ideas in my head. Hmmm...Raglan Road.....jotting that down on my list of what I need to adjust. :rolleyes1

I was looking through my files and found a couple of pics I want to share. I promised one of both of my dogs.

I took this picture on Coal's birthday last year. Yes, I made them wear birthday hats. Coal's hat says Birthday Boy.
candmpic054.jpg

Merlin is the white one (chihuahua-rat terrier mix), and Coal(full chihuahua) is the black one. (We're very diversified!)
They are sitting on our old bar. The one in the new house is much nicer. I'll supply a pic of it when I can finally transfer some from my camera.

Coal likes to stick his tongue out sometimes. It's strange....but, well here's a pic:
candmpic019.jpg

And lastly, I realized while looking back at one of the pictures that my Grandpa participated in the Garter toss at our wedding. He's the one with the gray hair. I just thought it was funny.
GarterThrow.jpg

(And yes, my Dad is to the far right, but he wasn't there for the toss. It looks like he was holding the bouquet that my cousin just caught)

And just because I can...
DaneCook.gif

something NICE to look at (and he's funny, too!)

I joined Sunshine Rewards today! I can't wait to earn my Disney Dollars! :woohoo

If anyone wants to check it out, PM me and I'll send you the link
(had it posted here but learned I shouldn't have :/ )
I wanna know about this good stuff! PM me pls.

Mon. Sept 17 – Sci Fi Dine-in at 4:05 PM --- Trying to push back a little later. If I can’t, we’ll just eat an early lunch. (Was considering changing this to 50’s Prime Time Café…but I’ve heard so many mixed reviews about both of these places. I’m sure we’ll make the most of either restaurant)

We will be at Sci Fi at 7:35...hope you guys can get in later.

And just because I can...
