A Trip to the World Changed Our World

Oh Ann, I think we are going to get along well. This is just my philosophy.

I think it is a good one to have. And it has to work both ways too... I try to see the side of others when I upset them and acknowledge their feelings..and make my own apologies. I have never in my life had someone stay mad at me or not make an attempt to apologize for whatever their part (no matter how large or small) was in whatever the issue was.... that is until recently.

I haven't read anything definite on it, just rumors (rumor has it that the Mermaid thing at DHS will be leaving too). I read they want to replace with Raphunzel.

Now the mermaid thing... I could be happy with a Raphunzel replacement. :goodvibes

Ann, I have experienced it once, someone staying mad at me (and I at her). :lmao: And yes, I laugh. Let me explain. Our cousin seperated from her boyfriend and we wanted to give them a bit of a treat, so we invited them to DLRP for 5 nights. After discussing dates we booked and a week before we went she didn't feel it any more and backed out. We were left with the cost! :sad2:
I let her know how I felt and she told me she would stop speaking to me because it was unfair to "blame" her.
Her loss not mine - we don't speak any more, but she missed out on a lot and so did her little girl (now already 16 years old! ;))

I do believe that often when there is a disagreement both parties have some culpability... even if it is just a small amount. What makes it hard though is when one person who has the majority doesn't see it that way. I wonder if this is what causes most of the "we don't speak any more" types of situations.

I am sorry to hear that your cousin and you no longer speak. That is seriously rough, especially if you occasionally see her at family gatherings. At least in my case, living on opposite sides of the country lessens that awkward "how will I feel seeing this other person" feelings.

It was now time for Zoe to ride her favorite ride. We must have some time that morning though, gone on VotLM since I found these pics

I don't care for falling or going upside down so I did NOT join the girls on ToT I did stay with them long enough to proudly take the chicken elevator down. It was not long of a wait before they joined me near the photo screens.

We then had a bit of time before lunch so we caught something that I have not seen in WDW since 2008.

IMG_2141_zps13d586ef.jpg

Muppet Vision 3D sure does have its charm. I am not sure why we have missed it on so many trips. I am so grateful to stringbean&wingnut for reminding me that it is a must do.

With the show over we were close enough to check in for our lunch ADR. To be honest, I was getting kinda of tired of this particular ADR. I have it on each trip because I love Fantasmic. However, having seen fantasmic each and every trip... I was in all honesty a bit fantasmic'd out. However Amanda was there for the first time so Fantasmic was a must and with it meant we needed to get the dinning package.

So off we went to Mama Melrose to check in and of course we had a bit of wait. So we shopped in the near by shops and took some pictures.

IMG_0400_zpsa958341a.jpg

And then it was time for our meal. The restaurant was seriously packed and seriously understaffed.

Zoe ordered the mozzarella ap to start.

IMG_0395_zps30b10ab4.jpg

Kira and Amanda got the antipasto plate to share.
IMG_0396_zps94929ad1.jpg

IMG_0398_zps934caed7.jpg

And I got the lovely caesar salad. (believe me it was good even though the pic of it makes it look icky.)

IMG_0397_zps5b3e8b9b.jpg

I can not for the life of me remember what anyone ate. It must have been good though considering there is not even a picture of it.

The dessert was a new change. In the past we had all been able to order a dessert. Now the dp entitled you to a sampler to share.

Now at first I was a bit irritated because I wanted to order my own specific dessert. Then also was the fact when they just brought it they slapped it down on the table with not plates or additional utensils. Finally, I was able to flag someone down to get plates that we could serve to. (I am not a fan of diving into something that someone else has had their fork...specifically my little typhoid mary..I mean..Zoe)

My irritation though very very quickly faded when we started to eat this.
IMG_0399_zps03662378.jpg

The berry item in the cup was amazing! The little jelly dome thing... was sooo yummy! In fact, there wasn't an item on the plate that I didn't like. I only wish we had more. (I wonder :scratchin if we could have asked for a second plate)

With our priority seating passes in hand we ended our meal and decided to head to the Phineas and Ferb m&g. We love that show here in our house, so meeting them was on our wish list.

The skies began to get seriously black and loud thunder started shaking everything around us. As we stood in line, everyone was getting ready to run for it. The cm's were telling all of us they didn't know how long they would still be out. We all laughed and agreed that we too didn't intend to stay once the skies opened up.

Everyone was hustling...I would say almost running up when it was their turn. We all wanted to not only get up in line, but done before the inevitable happened.

Finally it was our turn and we were ready with our book..

and camera
IMG_2144_zps29afeffe.jpg

We were so happy to get through the line with only having felt a sprinkle or two. We then walked to the umbrella to take a picture. (you know the one, kinda in front of where you go to see LMA)

Just as we got there and were about to pose, it happened. We could hear it like a herd of horses coming towards us. The rain drops were so loud and so violent we could hear it on our heels as we ran for cover under the Studio Catering Company.

We ended up staying under there for quite a while. It was the most rain I had ever seen in my life and I live near Seattle. ;)

Next up: 9/27 - Day 3 Part 4

impressed Zoe went on ToT...we still haven't done it, but hope to while in DLR ...need to try it at least once!
haven't eaten at MM for a few years, desserts look yummy!
rain in FL is so different than here isn't it...just a drizzle and gray, not the downpours...we got stuck in one during our April trip 2011, not fun!

Yeah! :lmao: A Florida rainshower. :rotfl2:

Lovely Character pics and I am pleased to hear that your MM food was good!
We were as stunned as you when we received a pre-selected dessert to share and we didn't get extra plates either. ;)

I really admire you - you do a lot in the parks. We suck ;) - 3 or 4 rides, too many people and we flee the parks. :rotfl:

She loves that ride. I am not sure what we will do next month since no one else will want to go on it with her.

Definitely different... those downpours are quite shocking.

Yeah! :lmao: A Florida rainshower. :rotfl2:

Yup, it was funny! Well, not really... but kinda ;)

I always enjoy the food at MM. The service is where I think they drop the ball... but food is good and then there is the priority seating for fantasmic.

I really admire you - you do a lot in the parks. We suck ;) - 3 or 4 rides, too many people and we flee the parks. :rotfl:

Ah... you don't suck. I just always travel commando style trying to get everything done. Kira is VERY commando style. Her trip last january... she rode EE 21 times over the course of her trip. TWENTY ONE! I am amazed she did anything else. So traveling in the fall with her meant we were gonna go a bit more than normal. I don't get EVERYTHING in though... we always miss stuff. Usually, not rides...but other things like characters or seminars or parades... I can usually handle the crowds though so I stick it out... it is Steve who leaves if there are too many people.

/
:worship: to Kira for riding EE 21 times....we did it 6 times one day ..I did have to take a break after 4 in a row, my neck was starting to hurt...went back about 3 hours later and did the last two...Megan says we have to break that record when we go back in Nov :scared1:

hope Zoe can talk someone into riding with her!

I know... she LOVEs that ride and I was shocked she was able to do that. Between single rider and fast passes they managed to go on it over and over again. I would not be able to go more than a couple times. It makes me feel a bit woozy.

As for Zoe... yeah... I dont know. I have only rode ToT once and it was not good. I ended up biting Steve. I know... strange of me... but the logic was this; I was holding on for dear life with my hands, my arms, my legs...I had nothing else with which to grasp onto him. So I kinda lost my riding on ToT privileges. :rotfl:

I still have never made it on VOLM, one of these days I hope! I've looked at Mama Melrose for the F! package before but admit, your update doesn't inspire me to want to try it. I can't believe you couldn't pick your dessert, that is just bizarre to me!

IMG_2146_zps56d28957.jpg

We were caught in a very similar storm at LMA and hid out in that same spot. It was crazy! People talk about the rain here but it does NOT rain like that. Usually. It did not let up either, we had to dash as we were hungry and that menu wasn't working for us. Absolutely drenched by the time we got to ABC commissary. I've seen it again since, as we've now had a few trips in August but the first time it happened it was like WHOA!

Glad you had a spot to hide out.

Love the picture of Zoe on the "snow"

Ann, I'm so sorry I got so far behind.

I am paying close attention to those Mama Melrose pictures. We are going for the first time in May. I picked one DHS restaurant a day for SWW days. Mostly I picked Sci Fi and 50's PTC. Was your meal part of the F! package? Is there a set menu for that?

I love ToT. That's great that Zoe goes on it. I love that feeling of going up and how smooth the ride is.

LisaB, that's one attraction I'd be happy to go on with you and Megan. Grumpy loves it too. We might ride it once a year if even that. It's one of my favorite attractions at WDW.

Great update! Tensions happen on every trip. I tend to snap at my mom when I am hungry and tired. I am glad it was all short lived. Your dinner/lunch looks great! So funny what you said about TOT. We went with a friend who had never been to Disney, she went on TOT once and would not go again. She hated every minute of it. I also agree with you about BATB, it is a great show. THey really capture all the highlights of the movie so well in a short span of time. Holy Rain water batman! We have rain like that occasionally here, usually on days that are 34 degrees out, so it is too warm to snow, but cold enough where when you get wet you become a miserable human being until you're dry again lol.

Yay!!! :goodvibes Glad you paid a visit to those lovable Muppets!!! :goodvibes

Good thing you got to see P&F before that epic rain hit!! Wow, good thing you were close to a covered spot!

Sounds like a good meal (besides maybe the service) at Mama Melrose. I've never eaten there but have thought about it many times. Those desserts do look quite yummy!

UGH - the rain! Reminds me of all the downpours during our time there. Seems like there was a lot of rain during our trips, right?

Tell me about the dessert sampler at Mama Melrose? I was not aware of this new DP change. Did they do this at other meals? Did they give you different amount of 'sampler' idepending on the number of people in the party?
We had TIW the last few trips but I had been thinking about DDP for our upcoming Dec trip. I need my desserts though!

I love that Zoe is the only one of group that seems to be enjoying ToT! lol!

I still have never made it on VOLM, one of these days I hope!

Recently I was told a rumor was out there that VOLM was going away... so if it is on your "one of these days" list... maybe catch it sooner rather than later.
I've looked at Mama Melrose for the F! package before but admit, your update doesn't inspire me to want to try it. I can't believe you couldn't pick your dessert, that is just bizarre to me!

I have never had a bad meal there. I actually really adore the food. I just wish that the service could be better.

I know...storms like that are just crazy! We had to eventually make a made dash too... but I will tell you more about that in the next update. ;)

Love the picture of Zoe on the "snow"

Thanks, she like to try and "act"as often as she can. I think if she had her way she would be on disney channel. :rotfl:

Ann, I'm so sorry I got so far behind.

absolutely no worries :goodvibes I am ALWAYS behind

I am paying close attention to those Mama Melrose pictures. We are going for the first time in May. I picked one DHS restaurant a day for SWW days. Mostly I picked Sci Fi and 50's PTC. Was your meal part of the F! package? Is there a set menu for that?

Our meal was a part of the fantasmic package. It used to be that you got to order an appetizer, an entree and then a dessert. Now, the dessert sampler comes instead of a choice... but all other items on the menu were an option for a choice. Well... now that I think about it they did make a change about a year ago that any ap for two could not be ordered unless two of you were going to use it as your ap.

I love ToT. That's great that Zoe goes on it. I love that feeling of going up and how smooth the ride is.

I am glad you love it! I think Zoe likes it for all those reasons!

Great update! Tensions happen on every trip. I tend to snap at my mom when I am hungry and tired. I am glad it was all short lived.

Thanks... tensions can happen. It is so nice to hear that others too have this, because I was made to feel that this was not normal. Well... to be fair... maybe the level to which Kira can take this is a bit over the top... but the underlying issue seems to be something that others can and do encounter on their trips.

Your dinner/lunch looks great! So funny what you said about TOT. We went with a friend who had never been to Disney, she went on TOT once and would not go again. She hated every minute of it.

I do not blame her one bit! ;)

I also agree with you about BATB, it is a great show. THey really capture all the highlights of the movie so well in a short span of time.

I am going to be sad if/when they take this show away.

Holy Rain water batman! We have rain like that occasionally here, usually on days that are 34 degrees out, so it is too warm to snow, but cold enough where when you get wet you become a miserable human being until you're dry again lol.

It was an amazing amount of water. It just kept coming down!

Yay!!! :goodvibes Glad you paid a visit to those lovable Muppets!!! :goodvibes

I am too!

Good thing you got to see P&F before that epic rain hit!! Wow, good thing you were close to a covered spot!

It could not have worked out better! We just barely got through P&F and then barely made it under cover before the rain hit. LITERALLY, the cloud was following us toward that cover...and as the rain hit that covered area just as we did.

Sounds like a good meal (besides maybe the service) at Mama Melrose. I've never eaten there but have thought about it many times. Those desserts do look quite yummy!

It was a good meal! Service is lacking... but the food is always good. And yes, the desserts were quite good!

UGH - the rain! Reminds me of all the downpours during our time there. Seems like there was a lot of rain during our trips, right?

There was a lot of rain when we were down there! But...goes along with hurricane season, I suppose.

That dessert sampler was quite yummy. Now that I look closely at the picture I think we must have either got two plates or there was 2 of each kind of dessert on the plate. I know we did have to share between the 4 of us. There was the tirimisu, a berry sort of cobbler, a chocolate tart and the cake thing (I want to say hazelnut) that had a jelly sort of covering. I loved ALL of them. :goodvibes I do not think they do this sampler thing at other dp meals.

I love that Zoe is the only one of group that seems to be enjoying ToT! lol!

Yeah, she loves that ride and yes... she is the only one that really likes it. :rotfl::rotfl:

I wish I could say that the rain stopped soon, but it didn't. There was even a bit of wind that kicked up and I video tapped a tree that was being blown around by the wind and rain.

Not wanting to spend all of our day in that spot, we talked about what to do. Did we run to the next "covered" area? Brave the rain? It was warm, so it would have not been too much of an issue to be wet, but who likes to be wet?

We voted and all decided we would hope from cover to cover along Pixar place until we hit the end and then RUN to the Great Movie Ride.

So off we went getting fairly wet along the way. When we finally made it to the GMR, we were pretty wet and guess what? The building had AC. BRRRRRR we were cold then!!! Luckily, the wait was not long and soon were were on the ride (that was not totally cold) and we dried off a bit.

and yes... we got the ganster.
IMG_2149_zps372f7d71.jpg

After this, we went to see the Indiana Jones Stunt show. We were running late so we got horrible seats. Oh well, at least we didn't miss it entirely.

I don't have a lot of pictures from the rest of the day, so I am not sure if we did anything else before getting in line for Fantasmic. So I will just assume our next activity was just that.. to line up for Fantasmic.

We got pretty good seats for the show and enjoyed quite the wait. At some point Zoe became peckish and we purchased some drinks and snacks from the wandering vendor. This is important to remember because I think it was what led to a snafu that caused me a great deal of time over the course of the trip. However.... I will get to that the next day.

One thing I liked that seemed to be new for fantasmic was during the wait they had a sort of "dj'd preshow" The two announcers engaged the crowd and directed games of sorts, with even "real" prizes to the winners (like popcorm...I think boxes of popcorn were prizes...maybe something else?:confused:)

The show itself was as good as ever.

After the show, we just went back to the resort. I think it was later than I expected it to be so instead of going to DTD to get something to eat we just ended up getting a pizza at the food court to share. Which, in case anyone is faced with this and is on the dp..know that this is an excellent option. You get a large pizza (which is more than enough to feed 4 people) You get 2 drinks and 2 desserts for 2 cs credits. Sorry, no pictures... but believe me it was pretty good.

After we ate, it was time to get ready for bed. (something that was a bit of a challenge each night due to Zoe's medical issues) Usually, Kira and Amanda would leave the room while I fought with Zoe a bit..or Zoe fought with herself a bit. (her body just doesn't seem to like to cooperate and either she is good about trying...and her body resists... or she resists trying and then fights me)

The next day was going to be exciting since the people in our second room were arriving and this would start the official ToT 10 miler weekend. :cool1:
