*Pictures forthcoming as soon as I get my lazy butt in gear and install the Canon Camera software on my computer. So for now, we must make do with pictures taken over the past few years.

Hello Peeps! And :welcome: to yet another December Pre-Trip Report. The trip is scheduled, the ADRs have been made, and now the only thing left to do is get this report off the ground to begin its steady flight to land of seventy degree winters and soap bubble snow.

This trip, my second ever, will take place December 12th through the 22nd at the Grand Floridian Resort in Walt Disney World.

As is commonplace in reports like this, we must first take care of a bit of housekeeping. The first order of business? Let us meet the players.

Cast of Characters

Me :tinker: – DD (19)

5.jpg

I will be your narrator through this journey as I guide you through the Cave of Agrabah, otherwise known as a teenager’s closet, describe the fundamental uses of a dinglehopper, and finally take you back mentally to place of dreams; Walt Disney World.

A little background, you say? My favorite character is Sorcerer Mickey; my favorite movie is Aladdin; and the character I most represent is Tinkerbell. I can be the nicest person on the planet, but every fairy is allotted their occasion temper tantrum, right? But hey, at least I never made anyone walk the plank!

As you will quickly come aware, my favorite color is pink as it holds a special meaning to me personally. When not completing junior level coursework at Rice University, I am working at a Breast Cancer Center conducting research and shadowing medical physicians studying to become an oncologist. This is the first meaning of my favorite color; pink for breast cancer. The second, and more personal reason for the favoritism, comes with a bit of a back story. Let me introduce you to my baby, Sophie.

IMG_1810.jpg

This year has been one of the hardest thus far in my life. A few months back it was discovered that Sophie, my fourteen year old Sheltie, has bladder cancer. I should mention now, that I have grown up with Sophie and have had her since she was just a pup and I was but five years old. Needless to say, there were quite a few nights spent in tears trying to come to terms with what this means for her life. The color representative of canine bladder cancer is pink, and hence it quickly took hold of my favorite color for reasons near and dear to my heart.

Before this gets too sad, as this is supposed to be a trip report of joyous occasions; I should mention that despite two major crashes, Sophie is still with us and doing well. I can tell she fighting her hardest against the disease and the light still shines bright in her eyes. I have vowed to her that every day she fights I will be by her side fighting with her and when that horrid day comes that we all must face; I will also be by her side. I will post updates on her status as they come as she is the most important thing in my life. And yes, I am tearing up as I write this.

And now on to happier topics. The next subject of our journey and my partner in crime.

DDad :donald: - (Age Unposted on Threat of Death)

His favorite character is Donald Duck and his favorite movie is National Treasure. Yes, not Disney in the typical sense, but still plastered with Disney’s name all the same. While Disney might not be his first choice of vacation destination, he will choose it every time for the bonding experience it provides and the joy of dreams coming true that only Disney can give.

And lastly, a player not participating on this particular journey.

DMom :earsgirl: - (Age Unposted on Polite Request)

She is not a movie fan in general, and hence has no favorite character or movie. While my mother means the world to me, she is not a theme park aficionado, and hence will not be joining us this trip. She will be holding down the fort instead. And yes, I am refraining from posting an image of her on her request.

Up Next: Scheduling Backgrounds and ADRs!

Love your style of writing.

Hey Guys! :wave2: Alright, so it’s 7:19PM and I’m watching a tape of Lie to Me while waiting for Dancing with the Stars to come on. That means it is update time!

As promised, I shall now provide you all with my coveted ADR list, but first a back story. We did not even know if it would be possible to make it to Disney this year until 89 days out from the trip. By the time we talked through everything; which resort, what dates, etc. we were 87 days out. :scared1: At this point it was about 1:30 in the afternoon and I got my little hinny straight on the phone to Disney Dining to make me some food reservations!

Now, we haven’t been to Disney in two years, so I wasn’t sure what sort of options and availabilities I would be looking at. As I waited for my call to connect, I pretty much just hoped I would at least be able to get a few of my choices. Well, I managed to get nearly EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. They might not have been on my first choice days, but with a little rearranging and swapping of my schedule, I was one happy girl.

So, without further adieu, I present to you my ADRs.

Alright, now that my not-so-little list is out of the way, I should mention two potential changes I am seeking. First, I am trying to add lunch at the Garden Grill to one of our Epcot days. This is the one ADR I regretted not making. My father didn’t like it so much last time so I left it off. After having thought about it however, I think I would miss not going there, hence my quest to find an available time spot.

Secondly, I’m debating lunch on the last day. I wanted Tony’s but that was booked solid, so I went with Cindy’s as a backup. I’m just not sure if I want to eat there three times in one trip. Don’t get me wrong, I love the castle and princesses, but variation is nice too.

So, any thoughts on it? Good? Or Bad? Happy? Or Sad? And yes, now I’ve got the song lyrics stuck in my head…Toodles!

:dance3::cheer2::santa:49 DAYS!:santa::cheer2::dance3:

We are now officially below the 50 day marker. 48 Days, 12 Hours, and 21 Minutes until the plane takes off, to be exact.

This is a short update, due to examinations in Immunology and troublesome visits to the veterinarian, but I just had to post for this important countdown marker!

Further updates may be sparse until November 12-22, at which point I will be posting our tentative day by day itinerary of what we will be doing just one month from then!:thumbsup2

:dance3::cheer2::santa:39 DAYS!:santa::cheer2::dance3:

We are now officially below the 40 day marker. 38 Days, 13 Hours, and 12 Minutes until the plane takes off, to be exact.

Today is a very important day because we got DISNEY MAIL! While it wasn't the actual resort packet, we did get the DME Tags! Which means we are one step closer to Disney!

And officially, we are at 34 Days, 15 Hours, and 5 Minutes! Getting Closer! :woohoo:

Hellooooo! Saw that you're going on a :santa: trip very soon and wanted to hop on over!

You got some pretty kickin ADRs! Out of the ones you've listed I've only been to Arkershurs, CRT, Ohana, CP, Sci-Fi, 1900 PK (but never for breakfast), Teppan Edo, Le Cellier and Chef Mickey. The others I haven't gone to and I'd love to hear how you make out.

So, without further adieu, I present to you my ADRs.

The 8-ish breakfasts are a tad early for my lazy family. Have you done Arkershurs for breakfast before? We went there for dinner once and the food was kinda not our thing.

Did you get Garden Grill yet?

Have you kept trying Tony's? You never know. Hey, if you like CRT I'd say go for it. What about the Plaza or Casey's? I've heard pretty good things about them but I've never been to either... :confused3

So, any thoughts on it? Good? Or Bad? Happy? Or Sad? And yes, now I’ve got the song lyrics stuck in my head…Toodles!

Thank you for stopping by! I'm sorry this report has been neglected recently, even though we are into the teens now. :dance3:

I've been so busy lately with exams and unfortunately trips to the vet. A short update on Sophie, she has not been doing well lately and her time may be running short. Although I did just manage to get her to eat turkey and bread with gravy, so that is a plus. :thumbsup2

Anyway, I hope to make some more updates to this before we leave, but if not, then I would just like to let all my readers know that there WILL be a trip report, and I wish you all a lovely Thanksgiving.

FINAL UPDATE: I hate to post this, but Sophie has finally ended her battle with cancer. She left us yesterday December 03 at 2:10PM. For this reason, I just cannot feel that I can go on with this PTR. There will be a Trip Report, but I just do not feel like I can make further postings on this right now.

Thank you to all my readers and lurkers and thanks for understanding. I hope to see you on my TR.
