Day 4: Magic Kingdom

After the early morning telephone tag game between WL, Orange Park, Ocala & Gainesville making sure DN2 and GF where in fact OK and headed back up I-75 to school....DN1 (Blake) was now ready for MK..

We took the first boat from the lodge to MK and arrived in time to go through security, the turnstiles, and rent my motorized ECV before they opened the gates and let everyone enter....Motored down Main Street U.S.A. taking all the sights and smells in. (Don't you just love the smells coming from Main Street Bakery?) Headed for Fantasyland, because I'm a Disney Vet I know if Blake wants to ride some of the rides we must do these before PhilharMagic...so we had talked and had a plan of attack...Dumbo, Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan's Flight....Errrrrror...He couldn't just walk by Mickey's PhilharMagic without going in......

I tried to explain Peter Pans Flight would be a long wait, but he would hear none of it...We were now proceeding through the maze of crowd control pathways until we reached the entrance to holding room..."Please Wait here" the CM said. Just missed the show, we could see the theater wouldn't be at capacity but all we could do is wait....Blake didn't care he would wait all-day if need be...He came to see PHILHARMAGIC. In just a few minutes we were allowed to enter and select our 3-D glasses :3dglasses Blake,:3dglasses Dsis, and :3dglasses Me...Blake was right by the door so I suggested we move back, so we wouldn't be first ones in and have to proceed all the way down to the end of the row. Little boys love to be first...Doors open and crowd surges forward past us to be seated...We had great seats no one was in front of Blake, located dead center of the theater the lights dim...(I wouldn't think of spoiling the movie for any of you) Blake loved it, I was watching him more then the movie, he was trying to help poor Donald Duck...The End...Nope he wanted to see it again.
I did make him go to Peter Pan's Flight before a second showing, and the line was long but didn't take up to much time....After 2nd showing of Philharmagic Dsis and Blake rode ITASW I decided to wait for them as my Cow knee was a little sore. (Standing in lines for MP twice and PPF had made it a little stiff) So I did what comes naturally People watched...love it...this can be more fun then any attraction. Waited & waited...he had talked his Mom to seeing Philharmagic one more time... then on to The Haunted Mansion, Blake knows this is my favorite ride and wants to ride with me I suggest we all three ride together so I can show them some things most people don't notice. Hidden Mickey's and Hidden Donald Duck he missed Donald on the first time through so when we are ready to depart the DOOM BUGGY he asked the CM if we could ride again...Sure just step this way, we were loaded from the exit side of HM and rode back through...cool...he managed to spot Donald this time and we again fought off the hitch-hiking ghost...so on with the day...Oops!! also showed him the pet cemetery he had never noticed then we spotted the wedding ring at exit.

Blake said he wanted something to drink so we headed straight for Columbia Harbour House. We each had a small drink but I also got a New England Clam Chowder - served in a bread bowl, Then Blake and Dsis decided to have the Clam Chowder It was a nice break and still early about 11:30am so now we were all ready and refueled.

Next stop Liberty Bell Riverboat...it had been years since I had been on the Riverboat and Blake never had, so I made the suggestion and away we went. Now Blake is one quick kid so I believe he was already on the top deck before I asked if it would be possible for him to assist the Captain in the wheelhouse.
Permission granted I told Blake he would be needed in the Wheel House and you should have seen the look on his face when the Captain told him he had been chosen to pilot the boat...the wheel was enormous at lest five feet in circumference Blake was worried big time...He turned that wheel this way, then that way, back across the river missing the rafts going to Tom Sawyer Island, then the bridge, then the Indian Village, he was so tired when we finally docked I felt sorry for him. (NO I didn't tell him the boat was on an underwater rail and that if he had done nothing at all we would have been safe) he received a Pilots Certificate with his name and the date he piloted The Liberty Bell.

Afterwards we headed to Tomorrowland...for Indy Speedway, Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress, and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin again. Blake was then ready to go back to WL to swim. We did some quick shopping on Main Street then we stopped at Tony's Town Square which had a table available Dsis and I both ordered ice tea and Calamari Fritti - crispy calamari with olive relish and drizzled with caper aioli, we both loved it. Blake had pink lemonade, as we were leaving the 3:00pm parade started. Blake was picked by Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum to join in the activities. After the parade we headed to the Lodge for him to swim, I asked Blake if he wanted to go on a mission to find a hidden memory box
pirate: Oh yeah...This was a return visit for me, my sister, and 6 year old nephew Blake had been at AK yesterday when I had visited the box. This trip I let Blake read instructions and lead the way, he was so excited he made his Mom keep a look-out during the hike so no one would see us. We didn't encounter any animals this trip, but when he saw the X on the tree he yells, "X MARKS THE SPOT" and found the Memory Box. He was so excited and decided to choose the Pooh erasers as a memento from the box. I added my card and special something for Majestic in the box and returned it to the hiding place ready for the next DIS explorer.

After Blake's swim we headed out for DTD to check for some
pins, didn't have any luck with special pin I was looking for but we did a little shopping then Blake wanted to ride the train, we tried to talk him out of this because the train is for the younger children & toddlers, but he always loved riding this train on previous trips so we let him go for it. Well he looked like Baby Huey,
every time he went around we waved and said "Hey Blake," the first time around Blake waved back from then on he just sat there and wiggled his hand a little. When the train stopped he helped some children off then walked back to us "I'm too big to ride that train, it's for babies!"" Well it isn't Mission Space but you
once loved it, so now you know," was all we said. We headed back to the Lodge. The bus service to and from DTD was the best we have ever encountered, we were back to the Resort in no time. WE were all tired and Blake was hungry so I made a trip to Roaring Fork for some chicken, I asked the cashier if it would be possible to get some cobbler from Artist Point Cobbler ... Seasonal Berries and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream she asked manager Dana I had my chicken and cobbler in just a few minutes and headed back to the room, if you get the opportunity you must try this cobbler the fresh berries were strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries...yummy...We watched some TV and another wonderful day came to an end.

It was a great day....thanks for sharing!!

:bounce: Blake finally got to see PhilharMagic, this kid has staying power...How did he get to pilot the Liberty Belle?

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing.

CaptnHook,

Sorry, didn't answer sooner..To pilot the Liberty Belle I asked the CM at gate, the Captain or River Pilot (not sure of official title) was there and said OK.
