Thursday 18th January
Mikki goes to Hospitality House to collect a care package. Bagels, coffee and a treasure hunt book! Thank you to our friend Ellen! Next, we drive to the Market Place. The main purpose is to get some stamps to post postcards and some more postcards to write. We also get some presents for friends at Ghiradelli and yes, we indulge the humans too.
We drive back to Old Key West and take the bus to the Magic Kingdom. By the time we get there, it is time for lunch at Columbia Harbour House. The upstairs seating is open and not crowded.
We wait for the parade near the Trading Post in Frontierland. We still have a good view of this new parade. The bubbles the characters were in have gone. In Mickeys case, it has been replaced by an arch in the classic three circle shape. It looks like the model of Figaro is improved: he can move his head and tail. I get a stroke from one of the seven dwarfs. I think it was Sneezy or Bashful. Prrrrrr. The villains were funny trying to say that dreams dont come true. We all know better!

After the parade the humans decided it was time to try Pirates and the line was only 15 minutes. It is quite clever how Jack has been added. We then headed for Fantasyland and rode the Carousel and then Snow White (no wait for either). As we came out of the shop after the ride we saw a line for yet more new characters but were too late to have my picture taken with them. I was quite glad in a way as it was Mrs Tremaine and the ugly step-sisters and I was not sure I wanted to be seen with them! Mikki took some pictures of them anyway.
The humans then made a slow wander out of the park. They take the bus back to OKW and after a brief rest take the car to Crossroads to get some butter and other toppings to have with the bagels. We also go into the Hallmark store where there is a new Jim Shore Figaro which somehow finds its way home with us.
Back at home it is a relaxing evening. The bagels are delicious. About 8 pm, we also discover another benefit of our room. We thought the gap in the trees just gave you a view of the road. In fact, it is also in just the right spot to let us see many of the displays of the Wishes fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.
Friday 19th January
The news has some weather reports from Europe to add to the awful news from the rest of the United States. Mikki decides it is time to use her telephone card to make some cheap calls home to check how the neighbours and family are (and how our house is). The wind has moved some roof tiles on several houses in our village, including ours. How lovely it is to have good neighbours who have already arranged to get things fixed. Fortunately all the humans are OK including the family further north in the country.
The weather forecast is again for a cool day so this looks like the day for Animal Kingdom since it always feels hotter than other parks. We collect fast passes for Expedition Everest before getting into the line for the 11.30 show of Finding Nemo.
The theatre which is now enclosed and air conditioned is large. Our line moves quite quickly once the doors open but there are still lots of people coming in when 11.30 arrives. The show starts about 15 minutes late but I think there would have been a lot of trouble if they had shut the doors to start on time with empty seats and people left outside. It took a long time to fill and to empty.
The show follows the story of the movie with lots of songs and action from the live performers who sing and act while holding up models of the fish characters as well. Its very clever and impressive. And in case you think it was difficult for a cat to look at all those fish without feeling hungry, fellow Disney characters are friends, not food.
After we get out from the Theatre we go to have a look round the shops on Discovery Island. The first things my humans see is a display of Xmas decorations and they finally find the ones they were looking for and proceed to buy them. Mikki then leaves Andrew looking round the shops while she goes to use the fast passes for EE. Its only a short wait so she uses both of them. She needs a few moments for her legs to rejoin her body after the second ride! When she gets back to us it is time for lunch and we head to Tusker House. Short wait but pretty noisy place to eat. This is one of AKs weaker points. It needs better eating options.
After lunch it is Fancy Figaros exciting point of the trip time to go visit Minnie in the character trails. Minnie likes seeing her pet cat and Fancy says he has been told this is his only chance to see characters so could he please see some more? We duly take him to see Mickey, Donald and Goofy. For some reason poor Goofy always has the shortest line.

We wend our way out of Animal Kingdom and head for Westside. I stay in the car while Mikki goes to Disneyquest (using that upgrade to her AP again) and Andrew browses Virgin Megastore. Mikki does Cyber Space Mountain and some of the retro games before re-joining Andrew.
After a walk round the rest of Westside they head home. After some debate about heading to Raglan Road or Portobello they decide on a night in. I dont mind I get more cuddles that way.
