We left Wolfgang Puck Express, and worked our way around to T-Rex, via many shops. We had some time to kill before meeting our friends, which was a good thing, because Downtown Disney was PACKED. On a Wednesday night! You would never know there's a recession going on in this country. Which meant, it was a darn good thing I had enough sense to make reservations. I called only a couple days before and was able to get a reservation for 4 for 8:00. They said to check-in at 7:45. Our friends arrived on-time, so we checked in at exactly 7:45. I heard them tell the couple in front of us that the wait time was an hour and 15 minutes.
Not for us!
They took us right away, actually. Didn't even have to wait until 8. We had to get by this guy first though:
We were seated in the Ice Age Room, which has some interesting lighting. Such interesting lighting, that it was pretty much impossible to take food shots, I'm afraid. See how awful we looked:
We can only imagine what that lighting would have done to food shots.
We gals started with a glass of wine, while the guys went for Blue Moons.
Everything on the menu looked good to me. It was hard to decide. As Vegetarians, our friends didn't have much to pick from, but they said they were fine with the menu. I asked the waiter about this:
Paleonzoic Chicken Sandwich - Fried pizza dough with grilled chicken, lettuce, bacon, pepper jack cheese, avocado, tomato and lemon aioli $12.99
He said it was "different", which was enough for me to decide to order it. Different is what I want. I can have ordinary at home.
My husband went with this:
Stegosaurus Steak and Cheese Sandwich - Traditional-style cheese steak with sautéed onions, peppers and mushroom, topped with melted Monterey jack and Swiss cheeses served with lettuce and tomatoes on a toasted hoagie roll $13.99
The Gal Vegetarian went with this:
Omnivore's Delight - Iceberg, romaine and baby greens with goat cheese, Ocean Spray Craisins, strawberries, red onion and caramelized pecans. Tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette dressing $15.99 Add Grilled Chicken $15.99 or Add Grilled Shrimp $16.99
And Guy Vegetarian ordered pasta:
Triassic Tortellini - Tri-colored cheese tortellini with sun-dried tomatoes, peas and mushrooms tossed in an Alfredo cream sauce $16.99; with grilled chicken $19.99
All of us were pleased with our meals. Mine came with chips, which I tried not to eat, in my feeble attempt at eating healthy.
Husband "upgraded" to waffle fries for an extra $1.99. The lemon aioli on my sandwich really made it, imo.
Service was very friendly and very good, thanks to John. I somehow managed to go through not one, not two, but three glasses of Cabernet at $6.50 per glass. Gee, we must've sat there a long time for that to happen.
Husband went through two Blue Moons. Our bill for just the two of us, with tax, but before gratuity was $66.42. Not bad by Disney standards.
