A tinkerbelle costume dilemma, please help!

Hello everyone,

I decided to dress my one year old up for a day at magic kingdon.. Just because. I thought it was cute. Not going to mnsshp. Just wanted to dress her up for a day at the park.. Ok, now. I decide on trying to find the cutest outfit, and decided on the tinkerbelle deluxe costume, with wings.It is the cutest little outfit. I have seen. I love it. Anyhow, I can purchase the outfit @ disneydirect, but the shoes, they don't have her size. She currently wears a 5, and I see they are out of 5/6's they only have 7/8. Does anyone know where I can purchase the shoes, and are there any other places where I could buy the outfit and shoes other than disney direct. I searched my local disney store. And they dont sell the costume. please help me. Thanks in advance. Im starting to think maybe i should not dress her up. DO alot of you parents dress up your baby girls, just for the fun of it?

Try http://www.buycostumes.com They have really cute Disney baby outfits. We got a Minnie Mouse dress for DD when she was 1 on the DCL. She wore it to the character breakfast and on one of the semi-formal nights.

Just a word of advice though, alot of the costumes look really cute but aren't very comfortable especially in the FL heat. Would I dress up a baby? It depends on the child. My own would be miserable for the entire day but would love it for an hour or so for a character breakfast. You mentioned the dress had wings? If your DD will be spending alot of time in her stroller, they may be uncomfortable after a while. I'm sure you already thought of this, but bring a change of clothes in case

I'm also inclined to agree w/ the above poster. While those costumes really are adorable,they are not meant for great comfort. I can't stress enough,to bring an extra outfit. Personally,I'd dress her up,have her picture taken,maybe w/ a character,and then I'd put on her other clothes. Whatever you decide,good luck,and I'm sure she'll be adorable!

You could try Ebay for the shoes! They will also sell them at Disney so maybe you could get them when you get there. If you don't find shoes, you could always just wear little white sandals or tennis shoes and it would still be cute! Maybe just add some little green pom-poms to them.
I'm all for dressing your princess up! I do think dressing her up for morning pics is the way to go though. Then take it off so she is more comfy. At 1 year, she is probably not going to be very happy in it. I see lots of older girls dressed up. Some of them look miserable and hot, but they are too into the princess thing to want to take off their outfit!
I have a Belle outfit for my 18 mth old to wear for the Halloween party. It will be in the evening so she probably won't be too uncomfortable, but I will be bringing a change of clothes just in case.

The only Tink costume I just saw at Disney Direct is a little girls not an infants. I don't think they have all their costumes up yet. When are you going? Maybe closer to Halloween they'll have a larger selection. Last year I bought DD an infant (18 or 24 months) Tink costume and the wings were built right into the costume (small little piece of tulle (spelling?) the stuff vails are made of...). I think the girls wings will be too big for your 1 year old. Also the infant costume had short sleeves not the long sleeves of the girls. I was lucky to find Tinkerbell light up sneakers at Payless. I also had tink green sox and tink green glow braclets that we put on her ankles at MNSSHP.

My DD is getting too big for her costume and I was very happy to see last week that the girls tink costumes at the Disney Store this year were just cap sleeves. Those long sleeves look so itchy! I'm afraid to buy her the wings. She thinks she can fly with the little ones on the infant costume.

The official shoes are likely to be uncomfortable anyway. Do what dance moms do: buy a pr. of cheap little white slipper shoes and paint them with the appropriate colour of glitter paint. Even little canvas sneakers would be good.

I always thought that the best way to do Tink is just like she is in the movie; a little strapless sheath with a scalloped hem, with sheer souffle at the top if you have issues with strapless, and wings that snap on to the back of the dress. I don't like the little tutu look for Tink, and tulle is really scratchy against the skin.

And then there is the issue of the heat in florida!!! Tulle would be horrible in that hot humid weather. Any costume in the day time has got to be stifling!

Others have beat me to the punch, but I was also going to tell you that the shoes are HORRIBLY uncomfortable - hard plastic and not for extended walking.

My girls usually just wear little white keds in the park with costumes, but one year one DD wore pink ballet shoes. You can buy ballet shoes cheap at Wal-Mart, K-mart, pay less, etc., and either leave pink or decorate as poster above stated! With socks, these will be FAR more comfortable than princess shoes.

When it has been hot, my girls usually change immediately after CRT or PSB. We just bring a bag with extra clothes and change in the restroom then hang bag with costumes on stroller.

Do you mean the little slippers that are green with the little puffballs on top? If so, I wanted to let you know that they run really small. I dressed my daughter up as Tinkerbell for Halloween (she was 16 months at the time) and she was wearing a size 5 shoe. When I went and got her the deluxe outfit (in a 2/3 that's all they had, it was a little large but still fit) I tried the size 5/6 shoes and I couldn't even get her foot in them. I ended up buying the 7/8. I also agree with some of the past posters that this won't be a comfy outfit. The sleeves are itchy and the costume will make her sweaty in the heat. But if you are set on it, you may want to have her wear it for a character meal and then switch into something else for the rest of the day. HTH

I was just at the Disney store yesterday and I saw some tinkerbelle shoes that go with the winged costume. TOO CUTE! I bet if you went to the disney store, they may call other locations for you. The lady at the desk said they just put out the costumes last week or so. Good luck. If you want to know which store and city I say them at you can PM me, maybe they could call there?

We did this in Arpil for dinner after the heat of the day had passed - we went to the princess dinner in Norway and it made our 2 year old DD's night. We bought the soft ballet slippers with the sparkly balls on them and they were not uncomfortable for her at all. Do buy two sizes larger than you ordinarily would (they are really small and we took two pairs back because we couldn't even get them on her feet). She takes a gap 7 and we had to get an 10/11. Just take an extra outfit with sandals in case she gets hot and wants to change. I would suggest calling the WDW Florist and they can deliver everything to your room, with a note from Tinkerbell, welcoming her to WDW. All the princesses loved her and so many people commented on her as she spun past (a little over-excited) and some people even took pictures of her. I don't regret doing it for a moment. Evening dinner with the princesses is the way to go though. Might be too hot around noon and a full day is a long time to wear the outfit - it is a bit scratchy.

My daughter had the infant Tink costume when she was 15 months old. I had looked at the shoes, but they looked horribly stiff and uncomfortable (although really really cute!). I just put her in her white walking shoes with beautiful pink tulle-like (for lack of a better description) shoelaces. I got more compliments on the shoelaces. I bought them at Payless shoes for only a couple dollars. That way, she was comfortable and she looked adorable. We didn't go to WDW dressed up, but we had a wedding reception that we had to attend on Halloween -- in costume! (It was interesting, let me tell you! ) She didn't mind being in the costume, however, I put her in a white turtleneck that snapped at the crotch because the sleeves and the bodice were itchy. You may want to check that and if you don't want to do a turtleneck, perhaps a onesie.

Does she have a build-a-bear? We bought DD's BAB a matching costume, so bear was Tinkerbell as well. For DD's pictures, she wore the BAB's Tink slippers. They were little green things with a white pompom on top. They actually fit her foot! Now, she couldn't have walked around outside in them. But, they worked indoors!

I would definitely dress her up. But, have the spare outfit along too.

Thank you all for the replys. How thoughtful of you all to take the time , to research, and share your ideas with me. I think I am going to buy the infant tink costume, and was going to buy some ballet shoes to go with it. Maybe decorate them a bit. As, all of you have shared most, of you all dont dress your daughters up for just a day at the park. Mostly, it is at character breakfast'? We are doing one at ohana's do you all think it will be to much to dress her up in tink then. Since the theme there is more island like right? Maybe i shouldnt dress her up. Now, I am wavering. Should I or shouldnt I?

My 2yo wears a 71/2 in shoes, and we had to get a whopping 9/10 because her fat little foot wouldn't fit in the Tink shoes. And she wears her costume all the time (see photo in my sig -- and notice the pink ballet shoes! ) but said last night that it was itchy.

I would think for portion of the day depending on when you are going it would be fine but of course I'd bring a spare change of clothes or two anyway.

Keds you can dye green but it would depend how much your 1 year old walks and what side of 1 she is on. If she will be closer to 2 I'd say do keds and dye them green and put sparkles or sequins on them will be more comfy to walk in. But at closer to one ballet slippers would be better since young children learning to walk should have the softest most bendable soles possible. I'm sure you can find green ballet slippers of course don't spend a lot on them as walking in them at Disney will likely be dirty.

I know for a fact that the older girl's TInk shoe run small, my older DD wears like a size 3 and she tried to put the largest sized ones on in the store on Saturday and couldn't get them on. I remarked that she reminded me of Cinderella's wicked step sister trying to wedge the glass slipper on, she was NOT amused!
