A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

What election? I had no idea you had an election going on today....:rotfl2:

I hope whomever wins today will make all of the Disers very happy. pixiedust:

You made me laugh, talking about choosing to spend your money at Disney instead of on fixing up your house. I have this discussion with my DMom all the time. I am fine not having the most modern home if I get to keep my vacations. I keep saying someday we will get to that.:rotfl:

Thanksgiving at Disney is going to be so much fun, no matter where you are. Just think next year you will have another little one at the table. ;)

cute picture of brooklynn in the fountains!

wow.....it's crazy how similar our updates tonight were. kind of eery! and of course you don't have to update on more - you update more often than us so that evens it out. ;)

I love all your pictures, how do you store so many on your computer! they are really great...did Jill ever show you the picture you made her take?? lol

Baby Kermit! :rotfl: That is SO cute!

I love the marketplace in the Mexican pavilion. I, too, was eyeing the little figurines in the last picture when we were there, but you're right--they are definitely pricey. If I see one that I really like in February, I might just buy it. I already see a couple that look interesting. ;)

That's pretty crazy that LTT was booked for Thanksgiving so far in advance, but that's great that you got Chef Mickey's instead, and still get to do LTT.

We ate at Garden Grill years ago. Maybe I'll ask my mom about trying to add that to our list. We have Boma and Chef Mickey's so far, but if we don't get anything else, I'm okay with that. Those were the only two that I really wanted. Luckily my sister picked Chef Mickey's for her birthday--she likes it because there's actually a lot of stuff there that she'll eat. :thumbsup2

You have a lot of fun plans to make in the next few months!

I always say I'm going to get one of the little figures in Mexico, but then I get there and look at the prices and decide against it. I really don't have a place to display them in my house, anyway, so that's probably good. They don't really fit in so much with an OKW den, a WL kitchen, or a Poly bedroom.

Brooklynn looks like she was enjoying her cool water break! It's nice to be able to take a break like that in the park! I let Hannah get into the ones at MK by Ariel's Grotto, DH thought I was crazy, but she had a ball! And I got some cute pictures!

All the kids had a blast in the water jets, and quite a few adults were seen splashing some water on themselves from them, too. A lot of people went and stood under the mist fans that were right there.

I do keep all nations and all leaders in thoughts and prayers on a regular basis. Wouldn't it be nice if 'peace on earth' was a real thing.

I need to get another job and just earmark that income strictly for household repairs and updating. Then, I wouldn't feel like I was taking away from our trip money. I really might check into that seriously after we get back from this trip.

***************************************

Since Dawn is over on their TR country hopping and putting me to total shame over here, I'm going to put up a few more before I call it a night.

I'll start with a plant picture on the walk between Mexico and Norway.

IMG_2741.jpg

IMG_2742.jpg

Those who seek the spirit of Norway face peril and adventure, but more often find beauty and charm.

IMG_2745.jpg

Polar bear, polar bear, what do you see?

IMG_2747.jpg

I see (smiling/screaming/boatloads of) guests looking at me!

How many times have I shown you this same picture?

IMG_2750.jpg

I didn't get a picture of the troll, but it seems that Donald was doing some country hopping, too.

IMG_2751.jpg

Wasn't he just in Meh-he-co just a few minutes ago?

Does this say "We're glad you're all in danger?" :)

IMG_2753.jpg

A sort of famous fisherman was somewhere around.

IMG_2754.jpg

I have heard his name before, but I'm not a big deep sea fisherman, so I didn't go looking for him. I'm sure it was cool for those who watch that show and/or are into the whole fishing thing.

Now this is Norwegian I can read!

IMG_2755.jpg

It says yum yum eat 'em up!

Yummies.

IMG_2756.jpg

The almond covered pretzels are worth sailing a few high seas for.

Norway's architecture.

IMG_2757.jpg

IMG_2758.jpg

Next post - China.

Leaving troll country, we arrived at this beautiful land.

IMG_2761.jpg

IMG_2759.jpg

We just missed seeing Mulan.

IMG_2760.jpg

The Chinese shop has many elegant and beautiful items.

IMG_2762.jpg

Well, these aren't beautiful, but they were in the picture mix.

IMG_2763.jpg

Back to the elegant and beautiful.

IMG_2764.jpg

IMG_2765.jpg

IMG_2766.jpg

Little cutesies.

IMG_2769.jpg

IMG_2772.jpg

IMG_2773.jpg

I took many more shopping pictures in China, but I couldn't keep them all. I think next time I will take a lot of video so that I can window shop whenever I want to.

Out of China and past The Outpost.

IMG_2774.jpg

This man was working on his craft.

IMG_2776.jpg

IMG_2777.jpg

Okay, now I'm finished for the evening. I still didn't do anywhere near as good as Dawn, but at least I feel a little better about my night's work. I'm going to check in and see what's happening on the election front.

So, might there be a Kelsey added to your family someday?

Jill said it would be easier to have another girl so that the clothes can be used again, but she doesn't care. I want her to have some of both. I think it is a blessing to have the opportunity to parent both girls and boys.

How many faces can you count in this picture?

No Kelsey, we are content with 2. Honestly, I am sad about not being able to use the middle name we had, Rose. It was to be in honor of a late dear friend. I was newly pregnant with Daniel when my niece Caroline was born. My brother and SIL considered Rose as a middle name for her but chose not to use it knowing how I felt about it. So now, no Rose :sad1:

I was hoping for a second boy when I was expecting Daniel for various reasons. I was talking with some friends about having same or different gender children and the one with a boy and girl commented that difference is good. I didn't appreciate how right he was until Daniel came along. I may have 2 boys but they are very different and each is wonderful in their own unique way!

I counted 16 faces but it is entirely possible I missed some or made some up :rolleyes1

i'm not going to show ray this because he would be SUPER jealous! he LOVES "deadliest catch" and he would've loved to meet sig hansen. he was there during my sister's visit, too. i guess he's out in the bering sea now catching crab!

you did just as good if not better than me because you take more pictures than i do!

wow to think that once i got internet at home i would be on DIS all DAY (not to mention i cant dis from work anymore :sad2: )...but silly me forgot how much i liked cable and youtube and everything else that i havent been able to do forever...but now that i've adjusted to life with cable and internet (and im up late) i will commit myself back to DIS...i've MISSED way too much...

Jill, John, and Brooklynn got here around 9:30 last night. Brooklynn has been into playing dress-up lately, so I must tell you that she was looking quite Punky Brewsterish. Underneath two blonde pigtails sitting high on her head, she was wearing black leggings, a Little Mermaid t-shirt, a thick pink sweater, a lime green Tinkerbell skirt, and a nightgown over all of that. She was also sporting a very fashionable set of five dollar jewelry which included two very large silver and purple diamond-studded earrings, a matching necklace, and a matching ring which was big enough for two of her fingers. She was quite the sight! :rotfl:

i would have loved to see a picture of brooklynn dressed up like that :goodvibes
Chalk drawing for the Pop Star of the Day.

IMG_2477.jpg
oh how i miss seeing that on a daily basis....i think i might know who the artist was...that is if they still work there...:confused3

Brooklynn woke up to breakfast in bed.

IMG_2483.jpg

It was just a few inches away from being breakfast in head!

I'd be happy to wake up to this this morning.

IMG_2484.jpg

Aww brooklynn looks so cute...love her bed hair! i could go for some disney breakfast right now

Maybe you'll have a granddaughter who can carry on the name Rose.

I didn't count the faces. I just saw a bunch of them and thought it would be a fun little game. I am going back to count them when I have more time, so we'll see if I get them all!

I read that in my head perfectly!! My favorite epcot attraction!

Well, if our trips ever cross and we meet in Epcot, maybe our spirits of adventure can ride this together.

I'm just funnin' with ya! You had such great pictures tonight. I was right there walking around WS with you in my (yes, small and dorky) little mind.

I loved Erica's crazy bobby picture and your Alice one.

I have heard of the fisherman guy. I actually think the boys have watched that show before. I would have been a little more interested if that sign would have said Paula Deen was there cooking up some pretzels or something.

Gotta love youtube for a quick Disney pick-me-up sometime!

I was looking at dress up clothes for Brooklynn yesterday. She needs nothing else to put in her room, though. She already has so much. But, she does love to play dress-up, and it was not easy to walk away from the Belle dress and tiara and high heels. I did, though.

I'm thinking more along the lines of getting her a good toy box for Christmas that she can put some of her things in, and then getting her something small for a present. She's still little and won't be disappointed in a weak 'grandma gift' like a toy box, as long as I get her another little bitty thing that makes her happy. Heck, it can still be a box of fruit snacks for her, at this point. She'd be as happy as one of Ariel's clams, and it would help Jill out to have a nice wooden toy box in the living room for Brooklynn to put her things in in there. So, that's probably what I'm going to be doing for her for Christmas instead of dress-up clothes. She's still got a few good dress-up years left in her, so I'll save getting that until she's older and would be less thrilled with a clunky toy box for a gift.

I'll get you some more pictures of Pop in three weeks! :yay:

********************************************

Everyone knows in the World Showcase world, Germany is right next door to China.

From China on to Germany.

Or as Arnold would say it, Chermany.

IMG_2788.jpg

Lots of interesting nutcrackers.

IMG_2779.jpg

IMG_2780.jpg

IMG_2781.jpg

Very special gingerbread men.

IMG_2782.jpg

I have never purchased and eaten one of these, but I'm thinking we might try one out this trip. They might be nice souvenirs to bring home, put in the freezer, and bring out for a sweet Christmas treat.

Jiminy Cricket resides here.

IMG_2784.jpg

IMG_2785.jpg

A few glimpses of daintiness were seen here, too.

IMG_2786.jpg

IMG_2778.jpg

I didn't keep a picture of the dolls this time. Sometimes the pictures of all those doll faces lined up kind of creeps me out.

From Germany to Italy.

IMG_2789.jpg

Our familiar friend was out doing what he does.

IMG_2790.jpg

IMG_2792.jpg

We didn't spend much time here on this day - just kind of gave it a quick walk-through.

Next up, America, and on this day after election morning, it seems appropriate to put up a picture or two from there.

IMG_2793.jpg

IMG_2794.jpg

I feel sure a new face will be added to this picture in the future.

IMG_2795.jpg

And with that, I will leave you and go get ready for my day.
The kids will be rushing in to tell us all about the new president this morning. It will be interesting to hear what all they have to say. It has already been interesting to hear them repeat things their parents have said during the race.

Let's not forget one last, but very important part of the American area of Epcot.

Have a great day, all!

Hi MeMom

I’m out of hiding for a bit!!!

One thing that always fascinates me is the time of your posts! I’m in the UK and it’s currently 11.30am (lunchtime soon, hurrah!). I get confused with the time difference easily and wonder what time it is for you when I see your posts in the morning UK time! Either you are up VERY early or VERY late!!! :rotfl:

I have been reading along but have been very bad and not posted any comments. I have loved all of your updates, especially the piccies of your Halloween fun! And the piccies of Wilderness Lodge and Epcot. Mum and I have been thinking we’d like to visit a few more resorts and now Wilderness Lodge is definitely on our list. We’re also determined to explore more of Epcot and World Showcase so your most recent updates have got me very excited. Its now only 10-days until our trip!

Baby is doing well, I think he/she is growing well now as my tummy looks a bit more ‘defined’ (not just podge!!! :rotfl: ) and its firmer! I wonder if when I return from Disney at the end of November, my hubby will notice I have grown!!!

Jill, if you read this, I might have asked before so apologies… I’d be interested to know whether you plan on riding the Safari and Pirates? I know Pirates doesn’t have any warnings but there is that drop…

Much love, Julie xxx

me too!!!! you may have seen this before because i know i've posted it, but just in case......

we met her in 2003 when we ate at her restaurant in savannah. she was so sweet!

I feel sure a new face will be added to this picture in the future.

:goodvibes i love that you said this.

It has already been interesting to hear them repeat things their parents have said during the race.

i'm sure it has!!!

I actually rode both the safari and Pirates when we were there in October and it was absolutely fine. Anything that didn't say don't ride I rode and had a great time. It was still very hot when we were there so I did insist on afternoon breaks at the hotel for swimming and resting both for me and Brooklynn. I can't wait to be back in just 3 weeks to do it all again! And since it will be the last trip until the end of July '09 I plan on doing as much as possible.

So I've missed a lot. We had 3 soccer games last week (well my DD did) and with Halloween I've been busy. As always, your pictures are wonderful. Seeing them is getting me more excited about our trip which is now less than 3 weeks away. Woohoo! I hope those mickey waffles are good, because waffles are one of the few foods I can get my DS to eat. They sure look good. I don't think we saw any of the future-looking rooms on our last trip. We will have to devote more time to just wandering around Epcot this time around. Great updates!

Great pictures, as always.

Congratulations on the ten day countdown mark! Too bad you'll be gone before we get there. We'd love to meet you.

I had wondered where one of my early morning pals went off to! I just can't make myself sleep past 3 something. I can usually make it until somewhere during that 3 a.m. hour, and then I'm up. I can't do any noisy chores at that time of the day, so I do schoolwork and Dis.

Yeah, I did see that picture before. I'd love to go to The Lady and Sons, but even more than that, I'd love to go out and see her house. I bet it is just so warm and inviting.

Three weeks is sounding good! I do hope we can meet up somewhere for a minute or two, just for a quick hello and a picture. I don't remember if I put our final schedule on here or not, but see if any of this 'jives' with your schedule.

Tuesday - 25th - arrive around lunch time, go to Animal Kingdom, possibly AKL if their tree is up, and then to DTD to shop (yay!) and see Santa Claus

Wednesday - 26th - Magic Kingdom in the morning, Liberty Tree Tavern for early dinner, see the Castle Lighting, not sure about the evening, maybe over to Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic

Thursday - 27th - Magic Kingdom in the morning for a very little while, then some resort hopping to see Christmas decorations, Chef Mickey's for supper, maybe Poly Beach to watch Wishes

Friday -28th - Animal Kingdom until Jingle Jungle parade, as soon as that is over, head to Hollywood Studios to see Osborne Lights (if they were doing a soft opening on Wed. and we've already seen them, we may go over to the Boardwalk instead or try to catch some of a Candlelight Processional at Epcot)

Saturday - 29th - Epcot all day, meet snowbell and SwansLoveDisney and anyone else who wants to stop by, hopefully catch a surprise for some Dis kids at the entrance to LeCellier around 6

Sunday - 30th - one more sweep through Fantasyland before we leave

We will definitely be visiting Pop at some point in time, either during our resort hopping or maybe we'll eat there before we leave. It is a requirement for us to go by Pop, even when we stay elsewhere.

Great pictures, as always.

Thank you. I have so many more, and I don't know if I'm going to get them all in before we leave. I'm putting up tons a day now, so maybe I will.

I haven't seen it, nor have I ever seen you as a blonde!

But Dawn is living proof that blondes don't have all the fun. She has fun no matter what color hair is covering her wild, funny, and a bit crazy mind!

**************************************************

Moving on. I have less than three weeks to finish this trip.

Japan.

Candy.

IMG_2804.jpg

Yikes! These could do some major damage to something!

IMG_2805.jpg

They slice; they dice; they julienne!
And they're all yours for the low price of $19.95.

More like take that decimal out of that number and you could get a few.

Kin to Wall-E?

Walking by France.

IMG_2808.jpg

So now it is almost time for us to have the dinner John has been waiting for for the whole trip - our first trip to LeCellier.

IMG_2821.jpg

The cheese soup was good, but I have had better.

IMG_2822.jpg

The pretzel bread dipped in it was very good, though.

Brooklynn doing her pre-meal coloring.

IMG_2824.jpg

We ordered an extra order of potatoes for Brooklynn, and we were planning to just give her the potatoes and some bits and pieces of our food.

We had NO idea the size of the order of potatoes!

IMG_2825.jpg

There was more food there than any of us could think of eating.

IMG_2826.jpg

IMG_2827.jpg

I had every intention of getting a creme brulee, but I could barely eat a third of what we had ordered, so I couldn't justify spending the money for it.

Instead, we shared a moose.

IMG_2828.jpg

After a meal in the cool, dark cellar, we stepped back out into the heat and sunshine.

This looks like a salad is growing out in the yard.

IMG_2829.jpg

Don't tell Dawn, but we saw a bird.

IMG_2832.jpg

A little good music, but it was too hot to stay around and listen for long.

IMG_2834.jpg

Is this what your fences look like, Canadian friends?

IMG_2835.jpg

If so, you have very cool fences.

Wow I never noticed that fence in Canada before. I love all the little things I learn about WDW from your pictures!

The nutcrackers in Germany are so cool. and that GINGERBREAD!! I LOVE Chocolate covered gingerbread! I kind of want to go back to WDW right now just to get one.

And with that, I will leave you and go get ready for my day.
The kids will be rushing in to tell us all about the new president this morning. It will be interesting to hear what all they have to say. It has already been interesting to hear them repeat things their parents have said during the race.

At work today we went to visit a group of first graders. We were taping their teacher being given a special award. We were explaining all about the video shoot to the kids and what they would have to do and when they would have to be quiet and what not, and when we asked if they had any questions one little boy raised his hand and said "Do you know that Barack Obama is the new vice president?"

That's an impressive side of potatoes!

I LOVE the shop in Japan. My mom, sister, and I did the pick-a-pearl when we were there, and when we were waiting for our jewelry to be set, we easily spent the 20-ish minutes browsing. My poor father. He'll have no one to escape with this time, unless one of us decides that we're sick  of shopping.

After seeing your pictures of other resorts, I think I'm going to try to do a little resort-hopping of my own--it's on my wish list, at least. I'm especially curious to visit the Grand Floridian. I'm sure I could convince someone to come with me, especially if I throw in the word "shops." :scratchin Oh, and I also added the almond pretzel to my wish list! AND I went to get food at Panera Bread with my brother earlier, and tried to pretend that I was eating something from Earl of Sandwich.
