A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

You think you would like more sleep... less than five decent hours last night.... I know he will start to sleep, but you have to wonder when?

I hear ya. Mine would not sleep at all for about a week at night. Finally took him to the doctor because was pretty sure it was colic. Turns out it was acid reflux in babies. Dr gave him Zantac and now he is sleeping at night(up every 3 hrs but at least is sleeping) but am having a hard time getting him to sleep during the day. And if I just put him down he just screams his head off. HE will be one month tommorow. Is it normal that he would not sleep as much during the day now?? Can't believe it has been one month already. Caleb now weighs 10lbs as of his last appointment last wednesday and has his one month appointment on monday, so I am sure it will be higher:rotfl:

Memom: I took some new pictures this am....maybe if I have time I can figure out how to upload them and post them. I wouldn't hold your breath though because I am not so savvy with computers or picture posting.

Is he sleeping flat or do you have him on an incline? If you don't try it. As for that don't lay hin flat or on his tummy anytime. Acid is running up his throat and he isn't feeling all that great with it.

Do you picture yourself with a girl, or do you picture yourself with a boy? I guess I see you having a boy, just because I'm used to seeing you with Luke.

i picture myself with a girl but only because i'm surrounded by boys now! (ray, sherman and eli) but i'd be happy with either one honestly.

That Mickey Rice Krispie bar might be a good thing for me to bring back to my class. I bet they would get a kick out of seeing it, and then they'd get a bigger kick out of partaking of it!

How fun would that be?! A giant Mickey treat to share, YUM

Isn't that the hat box that Lady came in at the beginning of Lady and the Tramp? :confused3

I would not have caught that as it has been years since I have seen that movie but that's what I love :lovestruc about Disney, the way they weave things together like that.

What is your heart's desire? I would very much like to make a wish or two or ten and have it/them come true today. How about you?

I would have several, a future trip to be planning would be good. For today, I would settle for those of us hurting  (whether its physical or otherwise) to find some relief.

I do think Eeyore would be greatly cheered up by coming to live with you!
My heart's desire? Hmmm, there are some big ones, but I would settle for a stroll down Main Street. If not that, then I would like more sleep. :rotfl:

I am formulating plans in my mind to buy a few Christmas decorations, and that could very well be one. I have to look at all of them, and I have to look at the prices!

Your heart's desire is very humble. Certainly can't accuse you of being greedy.

You think you would like more sleep... less than five decent hours last night.... I know he will start to sleep, but you have to wonder when?

I remember sleep deprivation well when the babies were babies. Unfortunately, it didn't go away when they outgrew it. I still don't sleep more than a 3-4 hour spurt, and it takes forever to get back to sleep when I do wake up. Maybe I should volunteer to keep everyone's babies in the night, since I'm awake anyway!

When you least expect it -- and then you will jerk awake in the morning and rush in to make sure everything is okay -- that's what I did with both of mine. :goodvibes

Remember watching them sleep, and if you couldn't hear or see them breathe, you'd shake them or at least put your finger under their nose to feel their breath? I did that several times with each of them.

That is so adorable! I just love the Jim Shore pieces!

My cats have those dishes, too! They're so cute!

I just love looking at all of your shopping pics!

I'm glad you enjoyed the shopping trip. I am planning to buy a Jim Shore piece or two on this trip, but I'll be in turmoil trying to pick which ones.

Hannah said, "the doggies need those dishes!" I've trained her well! :rotfl2:

A Disney family needs a Disney dog or cat dish. It is truly a need, not a want. :)

I love your shopping pictures---you find so many neat things that I am sure I have seen, but have never paid more attention to......and now I have MUCH shopping envy!!! You have made my souvenirs list begin to grow quite rapidly!!! ;o)

I know! Aren't there so many neat things to want???

I like your cat's water dish. I don't have any cats, but my daughter's favorite movies used to be The Aristocrats. I have probably seen that movie as many times as you have seen Peter Pan. Maggie also had a Marie beany that she carried around all the time. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Well then, join with me...

Brooklynn had to go to the hospital when she was just a few weeks old because of the acid reflux. Poor little thing (she really was little then) was hooked up to all kinds of machines, and it was pitiful. She had stopped breathing during a feeding, so they got her to the doctor, and the doctor sent her on to the hospital for a bunch of tests. We do understand your misery.

I'm sure Caleb is such a cutie. We do look forward to seeing him soon - whenever his mommy figures out the computer stuff. ;)

Yucky old acid! We don't like it, and we understand it. A poor little baby just protests this strange feeling in the only way he/she knows how - crying about it.

i picture myself with a girl but only because i'm surrounded by boys now! (ray, sherman and eli) but i'd be happy with either one honestly.

I guess that sort of surprises me. I thought you might want a boy. Maybe in about a year from now, we'll already know the answer to what you'll have? :goodvibes You will love that little creature like you have never loved anything in your life! It is overwhelming - there are truly not adequate words for the love you feel for your child.

How fun would that be?! A giant Mickey treat to share, YUM

Are you having a bad day with your bruises? Sorry about that. I hope it'll ease up soon.

I'll have to see how much a big Mickey is. Gotta see if my students are worth the cost!

No...he has to sleep at an incline now. So he has been sleeping in his car seat. But if he is not asleep when you put him down...then he screams. But he was sleeping lying down until we went to the doctor so that was the reason why he was not sleeping before. We just can't get him to go to sleep if he is already in his swing or car seat (unless we are in the car...then it is no fail)

As I was walking around taking pictures, I happened upon this coming out from behind the big gate.

I took a couple more pictures of things no one else takes pictures of,

and then I went to find a place to view the parade.

I chose to go up to the top of the train station. There were only a handful of people there.

IMG_2261.jpg

There were several more down there.

IMG_2264.jpg

There are some interesting games I could have played up there while I was waiting.

One for Wilderness Lodge fans.

IMG_2268.jpg

One for the wild and crazies.

IMG_2269.jpg

One I passed by very quickly!

IMG_2270.jpg

The sky was getting a little dark.

The parade heads toward the front.

The girl in front may have been trying out for that Burlesque game previously mentioned.

It's just a quaint little Mayberry-type town parade with regular citizens (except the top-falling-off girl) participating with the Disney performers and characters.

And that was that. One last picture of the castle. I liked the way the flag was blowing in the wind in the forefront of the castle.

It is a nice little afternoon event that's just a sweet little Disney touch you can experience if you aren't in line for a major ride or munching down on a pizza or burger or shopping your savings away.

Are you having a bad day with your bruises? Sorry about that. I hope it'll ease up soon.

Yes, I was in a ton of pain yesterday so I had an appointment first thing this morning. Turns out I have a small rib fracture and torn cartilidge between 2 other ribs. The doctor said that with all the swelling and contracted muscles in response to the injury, it was being held together. Now that the spot is healing, that natural "splint" is going away and the pain is kicking in. The pain medication is helping a lot, when it wears off, the pain is almost unbearable.

Luckily, Dising requires no exursion on my ribs :thumbsup2

I hope you get through this soon. I remember those days, one day I just broke down in tears because my DH was napping on the couch, I was exhausted and the baby was awake. thankfully, DH woke up, took the baby and sent me to bed. I assume you are home right now, try to sleep whenever possible to keep your head on straight.

I have a friend who recently adopted a child and was only given 5 days of paid leave while someone who gives birth is given 6 weeks of paid leave. Her employer says the difference is that a woman who gives birth is under doctor's care and an adoptive mom is not. :scared1: I don't care how that baby got to your home, it is a HARD adjustment for everyone!

Hope you figure out how to post pics soon. I'd love to see the little guy. If you want some help, PM me and I'll try to walk you through it.

Sorry to hear you are in such pain. It's nice that we have those magic pills to make it go away for a little while. I know it hurts, but just keep thinking about how lucky you are. From the looks of your car, you could be in much worse shape than you are!

i was just getting ready to say, "um.......i wonder if that girl knows her top is falling off????" before i saw your comment below the picture. :rotfl: it's one of those times you just have to say.....WHAT ARE PEOPLE THINKING???? why in the world would you walk down main street at magic kingdom like that?

I do remember watching my babies sleep and making sure they were breathing. Even now when Connor sleeps late (Chelsea never does because she apparently has her Nebraska farmer ancestors' ability to wake up at the crack of dawn), I sneak into his room to make sure he is okay.

That girl! Wonder how she could slap that tambourine and not worry about what might happen! :rotfl:

The girl in the parade... I don't understand how someone could walk around with their top like that!

I've missed Dising. I don't have midterms, thankfully, but I have a project due Monday and a decent amount of homework and reading besides, so I've been trying really hard to catch up and stay on top of everything. Also, my dad recently bought a Nikon D60 DSLR (he won "points" to Best Buy via his work.) It came kind of late in the afternoon yesterday, but today after work, I took a break from my homework and went out to take pictures. I think I'm in love. :rotfl2:

I can't believe your Thanksgiving trip is just five weeks away! I also can't believe that Thanksgiving is five weeks away. The time has been flying!

MeMom... just head on up here for Luke duty. He did cooperate great today for his pictures. Eight weeks old. My goal is not to let the last one have no pictures someday...here is hoping for a good night of sleep!

I don't know the price for a big Mickey bar, but if it's not outrageous, I may bring one back for my students. I think they'd like sharing one of those. We'll see.

Oh, I bet that would be an awesome treat for your students! I am going to be eating there next month, I'll be curious to check out the price tag on that thing!

He is so cute!

Wow! These are beautiful!

Baby sleep...I have a 13 month old so the sleepless nights are still fairly vivid in my mind...! I know many, many little ones do not nap very well during the day, crying if you set them down and the only way to get them to sleep is to let them sleep on you, or in your arms. With my little guy, I would attempt to lay him down right when he was getting drowsy, just before he was about to nod off. He would often times instantly scream and wake up. I would then hold him and repeat the process. Usually I would end up letting him just sleep on me/in my arms. He outgrew this fairly quickly, and got the idea of sleeping elsewhere...then he could sleep ANYWHERE. His bouncy, his crib, our bed, the floor, the pack n play, etc. At 1 month old, a baby still pretty much eats, then stays awake for about 45 minutes, then goes to sleep for about 1.5 hours. Most babies fall into a 3 hour pattern of this, and you can help encourage it if you would like (which I've also read helps them figure out their nights and days, and sleeping through the night).

I hope your little one out grows his AR. Poor little dude. :guilty: (and poor Mommy too!)

Serious hijak...sorry MeMom! I just can soooo understand! :goodvibes

Sooooo, Dawn.....when?!?!?!?!?!? ;) :rotfl:

Oh, owie. Hugs to you...er...a hug might hurt those ribs, so how about a side/shoulder hug?

WOW! Whoop whoop, look out there little missy. You're about to show the world whatcha got under that shirt!:scared:
The view from the train station is great. I've never watch a parade from that view. It's a totally different perspective.

The Family Fun Day Parade looks really cute! I haven't seen that one yet. I'll have to check it out on my next trip.

This, on the other hand, was not so cute...

OMG. I mean, that's not a good look anywhere, but in WDW? When you're IN the parade??? I agree with everyone else, what can she have been thinking???

Well I already changed my reservation from WL to AKL. I want to stay at WL during Chritsmas time. I love that Eyeore. I may have to get that for my mom as he is her favorite.

i was going to say the same thing. I almost had a Janet Jackson moment once when I was wearing a tube top (have not wore one since) -- but this girl literally has her halter off...
Memom -- Please tell me it stayed on... :rotfl2:
