A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

Dancin Princess. You're "at home ju-ju" statement cracked my up!!:lmao: :lmao:

Whoever danced and whatever they danced - it was a success. She said the night was beautiful!

bummer! i was hoping it was be awesome. we are going there in december. we wanted to do a character meal and anna wanted mickey and that's the only one we could make work with our schedule. it's a late breakfast - 10:25. but that's fine because we're not early risers! i hope it's at least worth our time!

Just be open-minded, as you already well know. A different day, a different time, different people doing the characters, a different crowd, etc. - all that might be totally different on your day. I want to try it, too, sometime, so I hope they don't write it off.

MeMom,

I have been reading your trip reports over the last few weeks, and I feel like I know you and your family. I have read many reports, but never posted before. You and Jill remind me of me and my mom. My mom just moved six hours from me, so I have been enjoying reading of your relationship with your daughter. My little girl, who will be 13 in January, was my mom's first grandchild. She is a blond like Brooklynn. Reading about your family with Brooklynn reminds me of when Maggie was little and the only grandchild. Now my mom has 5 granddaughters and one grandson (my second child, Conor.) Thank you for letting me go along on your trips with you. We will be going back in December. This will be the first trip that my family of four has taken alone. By the way, I was so sorry to hear about your son's accident. I pray that he continues to improve each day.

I am just overwhelmed that you would make our trip report your very first Dis post, and we are so happy to have you along! You will find the nicest bunch of people around here!

I hope I get a bunch of granddaughters and some grandsons, too!

Jill and I do have a good relationship. We've been through a lot together, and she was a big help to me as I was raising the three of them. She was always very good to her brothers. We have many good laughs together, and she puts up with my warped sense of humor!

I'm sorry that your mom is so far away. I know the times you are able to be together will be even more special and appreciated than ever now.

I am so glad that they had good weather for the party. I would love to go in the fall and see all the decorations.

I didn't actually watch the debate because my sister and I decided that watching "Haunted Mansion" was a lot more interesting. (The kids in the movie are named Meghan and Michael, just like my brother and I :goodvibes ) Anyway, my mom watched the debate on her laptop with her headphones on, and she occasionally told them that they were talking for much longer than a minute.

I also informed her that they were in TN and that I "knew" someone on the Disboards from there. She just laughed.

Is she laughing at you hangin' out with Tennessee hillbillies?!?!?
It's okay, really. We'll put on our good overalls and put away the moonshine if your mom comes to see us! :rotfl:

You would LOVE the decorations in Magic Kingdom! It is so pretty! Put that on your Disney list for sure, because it is cool!

We do the same thing - every time we hear anything about Canada, we think of all our Canadian pals like it's happening right there in their backyard. Kinda crazy, considering Canada is sorta....well, big! Chances are, whatever we're hearing is hundreds of miles away from all of our north of the border friends, but when we hear Canada, we immediately assume they are right in the middle of it!

:welcome: to the Disboards MagicShell!! :rainbow:

See!!! What did I tell you? Nice, nice people hang around here!

JILL UPDATE - They are sitting in France. She says the weather is beautiful right now and a nice breeze is blowing.

Oh, and John is eating snails. A snail sandwich, I guess, since I heard him say they bread was good.

Jill just said, "That's disgusting!" and Brooklynn took one look and proclaimed, "That's yucky!"

Jill said they got an empanada from Chile, I believe, that was really good, and a couple of other things. They are snacking right now and will be heading over to Hollywood Studios soon. She got the notion (yes, that's a Tennessee hillbilly term) to eat at Primetime Cafe, so she called to see what was available. They had an 8:25 spot open, and although that is late, she wanted it.

So, set your clocks for 8:25 Florida time and join them in spirit.

And get those elbows off the table!

Snail sandwiches.
That's just making me make a face right now.
And it is not a pretty one! :crazy2:

Thanks for all the Jill updates. I am glad that they are having such a good time.

I watched the debate last night as well... they did not stick to their one minutes alloted time at all...lol.

When I do my conferences, my presenters do the same thing to me.. sometimes I have to interrupt a room of 250 people to tell them to hurry up :rotfl2:

I missed you in the last round. I'm sorry.

I wish Jill could carry a live-cam with her so that we could join in the fun.

She reminded me tonight that I will be sitting in France, too, in a few more weeks!

I will not be eating snails. :snail: :snail:

Hi Memom
Right now it's 8:45 Florida time I just read your post and now I am thinking of them. Brooklyn carrying her purse to the bus stop must of been a sight, that little girl is way too cute. I take cute very seriously since I have 2 boys, and being a girly girl I love that stuff. I'm sure the waite staff is making them set the table as we speak. I hope they remember to eat their vegetables;)

I forgot to add this: France:thumbsup2 snails  I love all kinds of food but snails they just look gross forget about eating them

WOOHOO!!! Page 100 and you are still on day 4!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I love this group. It is so much more than just Disney. It's life, friends and of course our LOVE of Disney!!:lovestruc Welcome to the party Magicshell! This is a crazy, insane, loving group of friends who just love to chat! MeMom, I am happy to hear Drew is feeling better. Those sneezes are brutal with a broken collar bone!!:scared1: Off topic...I heard from my husband. He has safely arrived in Baghdad. He says it isnt too bad so far. He is pretty safe in the green zone, but I havent heard from him since those latest car bombs. That happened right near the green zone. Kinda scary....

She said they were one of the last two families in the restaurant. If the vegetable was corn, Jill ate it. She's a corn, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese kind of girl!

I forgot to add this: France:thumbsup2 snails  I love all kinds of food but snails they just look gross forget about eating them

I agree on both counts.
Thumbs up for France - I love the beauty shown in their movie!
Thumbs down for snails - I love nothing about them at all.

:goodvibes

Jill, John, and Brooklyn are probably finishing up their 50's dinner -- I so want to go there next June.

I'll tell you what she said in the update.

I'm excited to hear about dinner at 50s PTC! That's one of our 3 ADRs for November!

Have you never been? I think you'll like it.

JILL UPDATE - She called and said they were one of the last two families in Primetime. They asked John what his favorite part of the chicken was, and when he said the breast, they brought him two big pieces of that. I guess they had plenty of leftovers, so he could have whatever he wanted. Jill usually gets chicken, but decided to try the meatloaf. She said it was okay, but not great.

She was very excited about the pictures she got as they left, because the park had closed at eight, and it was empty. She said it was really cool to be there with no people. I would have had a field day taking pictures! I guess I need to strategically schedule a late Primetime meal someday, huh?

She said she saw Nicole as she was going to her room and they were going back out to the park. They waved and said hello, but will get together for a picture (hopefully) later. She said Nicole had on her birthday button. :) :bday:

They were able to ride Toy Story again with very little wait before they went in for dinner, so she's had a good evening.

Tomorrow morning is Magic Kingdom EMH, so they're headed to bed.

Mama, tell your DH and his buddies, thank you for their service so that I may enjoy the freedoms that I have!!!!

Thumbs up for France - I love the beauty shown in their movie!
Thumbs down for snails - I love nothing about them at all.

ITA!!!!!!!! I don't think I'll ever eat snails! YUCK!

I hope Drew is feeling better!

Mama2girls, I'll pray for your husbands safety! Thank him for all he does!

I have been made fun of before about my lack of speed in reporting.

I enjoy this group, too. Maybe someday we will have trips that will overlap so we can put names to faces. I'll have to remember to bring my props for hiding! ;)

Drew is definitely showing more signs of life. He's wanting to take his arm out of the sling, but Kristi warned him that if he doesn't let it heal right, he'll be sorry.

I'm glad your husband is in a safe zone. I don't know if I would want to watch much news. I would probably let my imagination get the best of me and worry too much about things that probably were never going to happen. He will be in our constant prayers.

***********************************

Okay, speeding right along on this report.....

After Fantasmic, we did some shopping as we made our way out of the park.

Things we didn't buy.

IMG_1974.jpg

IMG_1975.jpg

Purses.

IMG_1976.jpg

IMG_1977.jpg

Patriotic Mouse.

IMG_1978.jpg

Sweet things found here.

IMG_1979.jpg

Some things are not meant for human consumption, however.

IMG_1981.jpg

This is one.

IMG_1983.jpg

Snails are another. :snail: Blech!!!

Who'd-a-thunk there was a snail smilie????

And you know how I love palm trees, so:

IMG_1984.jpg

I was just walking along taking pictures,

IMG_1985.jpg

and then, being the good citizen that I am, I went to throw some trash away.

I reached for the garbage can, but it was a little further away that I had judged.

My foot caught the curb wrong,

and in s-l-o-w motion,

I

began

to

lose

my

ba
la
n
c
e.

I almost righted myself, but alas, I could not,
because my hands were carrying precious cargo.

I will refer you back to this picture.

IMG_1813.jpg

So, risking my all to save my buckets and cups,
I proceeded to fall flat on my face.
Literally.
In slow motion.

Two CM's were standing right there and rushed over to me.
I had already begun laughing.

Jill came over with a look of sheer terror on her face, but when she saw that I was fine, and that I found it quite amusing, she started laughing.

Imagine that - laughing hysterically at your sweet mother who has raised you from an infant and sacrificed life and limb for you and brought you to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Not only did she laugh, she proceeded to re-enact the fall. :rotfl2:
In slow motion.
Which made us laugh even more. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I hope the people around us got as much of a kick out of it as we did.

Somebody somewhere surely went home and told their friends about seeing the popcorn bucket lady fall
slowly
into the trash can
and onto
the ground.

And since I have already been so brave as to peer out from behind my friend Goofy earlier in the report,
I will now show you the self-photograph from the next morning
after the aforementioned fall.

More MeMom than you ever wanted to see, I am sure.

[PICTURE REMOVED - Just imagine a scarred up eye and cheekbone here.]

Not to fear, though.

I have BIG sunglasses. :cool2:

[PICTURE REMOVED - Imagine scarred up face covered by big sunglasses.]

I wore them pretty much every minute of the next several days.

Jill had told me she was going to re-enact my fall again on this trip and film it for you all to see.

I wonder if she did that tonight when she was at Hollywood Studios with no people around? :upsidedow

Okay, that's enough humiliation for one evening.

I talked to Nicole and Jill both just a little bit ago. They're chillin' in their rooms at Pop. Maybe they can hook up tomorrow afternoon when they are both back at the rooms for breaks.

Yuck snails, I see lots of great food porn here on the DIS but I could pass on seeing that. To each his own, at least it sounds french.
Brooklynn is a girl after my own heart, with her own little purse. How sweet.
I am surprized you ever hear anything about Canada. When I lived in AL I never saw anything on the news about us, unless your president was visiting. ;)
We on the other hand know everything about the US because so many of our T.V. stations are American.
So glad to hear Drew is getting better each day.:yay:

oh, poor memom!!!! i want to give you a hug. that's a pretty good shiner....something to be proud of. from one klutz to another.....

if it makes you feel any better, i ATE IT in savannah on my honeymoon. and to make things worse, i was wearing a dress. i had never been there before and i didn't realize the streets down on river street were made of cobblestone and therefore wearing heels is not a good idea! add a couple of cocktails to that and dawn the klutz strikes again. what was so bad is that there was a prom going on that night so there were teenagers everywhere and i'm sure tons of them saw and laughed and talked about it later. ray helped me up and saw that my knee was bleeding and took me over to a stoop to sit me down. i proceeded to cry like a baby. he thought i was crying from pain and when he asked me if he needed to call 911 i told him no, that i was fine. he said, "why are you crying?" and i said, "because i'm gonna be known as the drunk girl that fell in savannah when those kids tell their prom stories!!!!!" :rotfl2: i'm NEVER the drunk girl that falls so it was a new experience for me and one i don't want to experience ever again.

oh, and just so you know, i do things like that even when i'm sober. it's just that it seemed like a HUGE deal when i had consumed a couple of white russians!

I must have been typing at the same time as you, I missed the update. How great that Jill had the park to themselves. You would have taken soo many good pics if you were there. Oh my, you took a nasty fall. In MeMom true fashion you picked yourself up and went on, sunglasses and all. You saved the buckets. As time goes by you become less and less hidden. :thumbsup2

Mama2girls, I'll pray for your husbands safety! Thank him for all he does!

Drew does feel better. His shoulder still hurts quite a bit, but he barely says anything about it.

Many of us will pray for Dad to come home quickly and safely to his family.

:lmao:
awesome glasses, though!!:thumbsup2

Good thing I brought the big ones.

Yuck snails, I see lots of great food porn here on the DIS but I could pass on seeing that. To each his own, at least it sounds french.

I have looked forward to the time I could buy her purses and put little goodies in them.

I had not a drop of alcohol. That was a completely sober shiner.

Well, that's the end of the reveals. For whatever reason, I was in a playful mood this trip, but I got back to sound reasoning. There weren't any more pictures after that, except for the one that the fellow Diser got of us from a distance at the Polynesian.

Oh no! Ouch!!!

I'm happy to see a picture of you, MeMom, but not under those circumstances!

It sounds like you were a very good sport about it...good for you!

I have a wallet that looks just like the purses in that photo...I only use it at Disney World and I love it!

Oh ouch ouch ouch!!!!
There's no hint of the injury behind the big sunglasses, though... but I'm sure you can tell it's still there!

With all of the pictures you are posting of shops, I find myself drooling way too much. "I have to get that when I'm there!!!" Oh but there is only so much money for souvenirs...
In particular, I love those little pouches of the comic-strip mickey and minnie-- "I try to talk seriously and all you can say is "Oh Boy"!" I like the little mickey-head on the zipper, too...
oh what a crisis. I wish I was there now.
