A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

He's having a rough night. He seems to be hurting a lot, and it's still two hours until he's due for another Lortab. I have him propped up on the couch with pillows under all his sore spots, which is just about everywhere.

I think the internal bruising is starting to get to him now, and his head and shoulder are killing him.

that stinks. i know it's hard to see him in pain. it makes sense though - when i work out my muscles are WAY more sore 2 days later than they are the day of my workout. so i'm sure it's the same when you injure yourself. give him a hug (on the left side) from us! :goodvibes

Okay, if there's no mullet picture, maybe we could settle for a big hair picture!!! Whatdaya say???? :)

ask and you shall receive. i just happen to have a montage of big hair pics that i uploaded awhile back for my disappearing peeps thread when the subject came up. enjoy! and try not to spit all over your computer screen, please.

File0041.jpg

left to right: that's me in the 7th grade (1989). nice hair, huh? the one in the middle is the 8th grade (1990). i'm in the upper lefthand corner. that was the perm from hades. then the last one is me in the 9th grade posing for my dance team picture (1991). the hair's not quite as bad as the other two, but the nice glittery costume is just super cool. :rotfl2:

Punkin, I take it there is a bit of an age difference between you and Ray. I like to tease DH that I was finishing the 3rd grade when he graduated from high school :) I couldn't help but think of you tonight as I was driving in with my 4 yo and he was looking at all the halloween decorations "Punkin mommy, punkin!"

awwwww....so cute! yes, there is 5 years between us. actually it's more like 4 years and 8 months. ;) i'm 32 (birthday is in july) and ray will be 37 next month. when we met i was 17 and he was 22. we were friends for awhile before we started dating (we worked together) and i knew he was too old for me then, but i couldn't help it - i was smitten! i lied to my parents and told them he was 19. :rolleyes1 i look back at that now and just cringe. it's so awful! but of course they love him now so it all worked out!

Great pictures Dawn! Those were fantastic!:lmao: I definately had that hades perm too. I remember it took my hairdresser like two hours to wrap my hair. I graduated in 1989! I LOVE the 80's!!

:rotfl: I was catching up and happened to see something about mullets--if I had any pictures, I would share a picture of my uncle. I have never, ever seen him with a hairstyle other than a mullet. He's 50-something right now, too, so I highly doubt he will ever change it. Someday, he'll be the cool grandfather with a mullet. ;)

Punkin...I loved the pictures! :thumbsup2

Wow--I am praying fpr a speedy recovery for Drew and your family!!:grouphug: Having been off the computers the last couple of days, I have missed quite a bit , but have added you in my thoughts and prayers now that I'm all caught up!

On a postive note, I'm glad Jill and company are enjoying their Disney time!:goodvibes

I'm late in catching up (as usual!), but I am soooo glad to hear Drew is doing well and there was no head trauma or anything hugely serious!! I cannot even fathom the amount of pain he's in with the broken ear and collarbone. Ouch!

Glad to hear Jill is having a good time too. The brat! :rotfl2: ;) Your countdown starts veryyyyy soon MeMom, very soon!!!!

Holy Moly, MeMom! I have been away for a few days and I just read about your son! Thank God that he will be ok. My best friend was in a motorcycle accident at the end of August and broke his collar bone. He was in a sling for 5 weeks and is feeling better now. He still can't work (he is a firefighter and paramedic) but he is geting stronger every day. My prayers and hugs go out to him and you for your sanity! On a happier note, the reason I was absent was I spent the entire weekend traveling all over Northern VA and D.C. cheering on my little sister as she walked the 60 mile Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer walk. She raised just over $5000 and finished 969 out of about 4000 walkers! What an amazing woman she is. I just had to tell everyone how incredibly proud I am to be her sister.:lovestruc . Now back to reading!!

that is so good to hear. he has his angel with him thats for sure. I will continue to send out my prayers in hopes for a speedy recovery for Drew

It could have been much worse. He is lucky.

Yummy funnel cakes! I'm sure that Drew will be sore for a long time and that he will hurt in places he didn't think he could ever hurt. Poor thing. I pray for his speedy recovery!

I know he appreciates that.

And, yes, funnel cakes are so good!

Sorry to hear that Drew is having a rough night :(.

I bet Jill got her funnel cake from Sleepy Hollow -- sigh -- that's my absolute favorite snack in the evenings at MK.

After another pain pill and some added Advil, he has slept through the night without waking, so that is a good sign. Maybe it is subsiding.

I'm pretty sure she was at Sleepy Hollow!

Memom: Just got a chance to log on and to hear about Drew's accident. Glad things are going to look up...hope he feels better soon!

Those are the best Fantasmic pictures I have seen reading these trip reports as DH and I did not make it there this past trip so I still have never seen it.

Put Fantasmic on your list of things to see. It is a great ending to a day. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when all the characters come out on the boat! :)

I SO want to be in this picture, how much fun would that be!! Will this be before or after our pool party at POP?

Tower of Terror first and then late night pizza out by the pool. How does that sound?

we always love to see that happy little face

i love that mickey!

i love brooklynn talk

i love the boat, i love seeing all the characters together at once. i hope they dont do away with it completly. Im glad the boat was there for jill.

will it end up tying on to the end of this one? (like baby and the tramp?) i like that...1 TR for all trips in one year:thumbsup2 (in MeMom & Jill's case)

i might sit that ride out, unless u drag me on it

multiquoting takes so long sometimes....

Me, too.
Me, too.
Me, too.

And another
me, too.

I'm not sure about how we'll do the trip reports. Snowball 'em all into one until next summer's trip or start over? I'm guessing snowball until next summer, but I'll take suggestions from you guys. Does it get to be too much doing it that way?

That's what I told him. I think yesterday was probably going to be his worst day as all the internal bruising really sets in. I predict from today on things will begin to ease up.

Thanks for the hair pictures. I'm especially fond of the first one - with the little fluff at the top! You were quite stylish! We'll make fun of today's hairstyles in the future, too, so it's all good.

At least you aren't like me, having the same hairstyle for twenty years!

i knew he was too old for me then, but i couldn't help it - i was smitten! i lied to my parents and told them he was 19. :rolleyes1 i look back at that now and just cringe. it's so awful! but of course they love him now so it all worked out!

Ooooooooh! You lied to your parents! So, when did they find out he was a tad bit older? It's nice that they are happy with your choice! :thumbsup2

Great pictures Dawn! Those were fantastic!:lmao: I definately had that hades perm too. I remember it took my hairdresser like two hours to wrap my hair. I graduated in 1989! I LOVE the 80's!!

I enjoy seeing the special hairstyles and clothes of that 'era' when I watch reruns of Full House. They were stylin', too!

:rotfl: I was catching up and happened to see something about mullets--if I had any pictures, I would share a picture of my uncle. I have never, ever seen him with a hairstyle other than a mullet. Punkin...I loved the pictures! :thumbsup2

Sounds like me. I just roll it and brush it back and have done it the same way for years and years...and years. Maybe us 50-somethings just aren't good at change. ;)

Thanks for the good thoughts. Jill is having a good time. Tonight is MNSSHP, so I'm crossing my fingers for good weather. She's really been looking forward to this!

I'm late in catching up (as usual!), but I am soooo glad to hear Drew is doing well and there was no head trauma or anything hugely serious!! I cannot even fathom the amount of pain he's in with the broken ear and collarbone. Ouch!

He hasn't been 'ouching' out loud, but he winces every time he moves the arm the wrong way. I'm glad he's not a complainer, because he could have a field day with this if he wanted to.

The countdown will begin on Sunday. Jill returns on Saturday, so we'll start the next day!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I love to hear about the good things that are going on in your lives.

I'm glad that Drew is doing ok....and

Happy Belated Birthday Jill!!!!!!!

I will tell Jill about the added birthday wishes when she calls to brag about where she is this morning.

Oh poor Drew, sorry to hear about the pain. In time he will feel better I'm sure.
Glad Jill got the boat !!!! Its so great she is enjoying herself, and not rubbing it in too much....
Funnel cakes are wonderful, wish I could have one.
Great pics of Punkin's hairdos, I had big hair and a perms also. We used to use this really strong hairspray that made your hair really stiff so it didn't move. Good times.
Have a good day!

awesome hair!!! i think we had ours done by the same person!!!:rotfl: i definately sported the poodle perm with the big puff ball in the front. gotta love that aquanet hairspray!!!!!:rotfl2:

Punkin, I too am one of the ones who had that awful perm. We are the same age, I am 32 also, my dh is 40 though and he had a mullet before we met. Memom, how is Drew this morning? I hope he is doing better. My dh was in a really bad car accident about a year and half ago and he was worse the second day than the first day. He broke 3 ribs and cracked 2 more plus had really bad internal brusing. How are you doing taking care of him? I know it can be hard. My dh is a complainer so he did have a field day.

Ooooooooh! You lied to your parents! So, when did they find out he was a tad bit older? It's nice that they are happy with your choice! :thumbsup2

i told them how old he was on my 18th birthday. by that time they liked him and i knew that they couldn't do anything about me seeing him at that age. they were mad at me that i lied, but they got over it (obviously).

my grandma still uses aquanet! :lmao:

Sounds like me. I just roll it and brush it back and have done it the same way for years and years...and years. Maybe us 50-somethings just aren't good at change. ;)

Some of us 20-somethings aren't good at it, either! :rotfl: I, too, have had the same kind of hair for years...since I was a kid. Just long and always pulled back in a ponytail. The only major change I made was to grow out my bangs.

How is Drew doing this morning? I read that you thought that the pain might be subsiding a bit, so I am hoping that it is, and continues to. He seems like a trouper. :thumbsup2

So glad that Jill got the boat at Fantasmic. I hope that the weather is good for them during MNSSHP. :goodvibes

Aaah, Aquanet! That stuff was like super-glue!

Oh Punkin, I have a picture of me with the about same hair that you had in the first picture! :rotfl: It makes since, we are the same age! Thanks for sharing!

Isn't she a good sport? You gotta love her!

We're making it fine. He's not a complainer, so unless it is killing him, he's not saying much at all. He's tired of laying around watching movies, though.

You're such a trickster! Remember what you did when you have your own teenager someday. You probably won't believe anything he/she says without proof!

So glad that Jill got the boat at Fantasmic. I hope that the weather is good for them during MNSSHP. :goodvibes

She sent me a picture as they were on their way to the bus stop this morning, and it was nice and sunny. We'll keep our fingers crossed. This is the part of the trip she has really been looking forward to.

JILL UPDATE - They went to Epcot this morning.

Brooklynn is carrying her new Awull purse everywhere. The contents of it this morning were as follows: sunglasses, paci, two stickers. :cool2:

Got character pictures, did Nemo, John rode Mission:Space, ate at Sunshine Seasons. She had chocolate peanut butter cake in my honor. They're on their way back to Pop for a nice afternoon of swimming and naps before going to
MNSSHP tonight.

i'm so jealous about MNSSHP tonight! i was just messing with my videos of the fireworks and the villians mix and mingle to make into DVDs for erica and myself and i was wondering if by chance they were going to the halloween party tonight. i will imagine i'm there with them! :cloud9:

I love hearing about the fun that Jill, Brooklynn, and John are having at Epcot -- meanwhile in North Georgia, I am doing reading inventories and entering last-minute grades. :scared: Not nearly as much fun!

Hope they all have a blast tonight at MNSSHP! Are they dressing up?

MeMom - Just catching up after a couple days and glad to hear that Drew's injuries were not as serious as they first seemed. How scary! We'll keep him in our prayers. Hope he's feeling a little bit better today.

Your Fan-Taz-Mitch pictures were great! Ours never turn out that good. Yea, Jill got the boat on her birthday! I love that part of Fantasmic! I hope they don't get rid of it. Keeping fingers crossed that the weather stays nice for MNSSHP tonight. And wishing I could be there eating a funnel cake too - but not a turkey leg!

Enoy the rest of your Tuesday.

They are there already. The clouds are dark, but she had me look up the ten day forecast, and this seems to be as good a night as any to give it a try.

I'll probably have to be a Disney dork and youtube it tonight just so I can sort of be there, too. I truly hope it doesn't rain enough to ruin the evening for them. I know we have no control whatsoever over the weather, but I know how much she wanted to see the parade and enjoy the party, so I really hope Mother Nature is kind to them tonight.

That sounds much like my day. I finished Math, Social Studies, and Science grades. I have two more to add to finish Reading, and my co-teacher does Language.

I think Brooklynn is going to end up wearing a Tinkerbell outfit that someone gave her last week. She had Boo from Monsters, Inc. stuff, but a lady came in at school and gave her the Tinkerbell :tink: , so she said she'll let her wear that for a while and then change into the Boo clothes as the night wears on, since they're more casual and comfortable.

I have to stop and give a bit shout out :cheer2: to twob4him , who offered to make Brooklynn the cutest little Boo outfit. That little blouse was so cute, but we felt like you surely had enough to do taking care of all of your crew! You were so sweet to offer that, though, and if the next baby is a girl, we'll probably be begging clothes from you and your three little girlies!

He's sitting up talking to some buddies, and just took some Aleve between his pain meds. I can tell he has more life in him today, so that's good. He'll be back up and making messes around here in no time, I'm sure!

JILL UPDATE - They are at Magic Kingdom hoping to enjoy Mickey's Not So Rainy Halloween Party! They just finished watching the Castle Party, but it couldn't be finished because of the drizzle. Keep your fingers crossed for them to not get washed out.

For those of you who will be watching the debate tonight, that will be coming from our fair city at Belmont University. As you can imagine, it's the headline of every news clip that comes on TV. I asked my students to watch some of the news tonight about what all was going on in the city and report back to me tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what they come back with. I don't care about them watching the debate itself, since they're only 8-9 years old, but I thought they would see a lot of interesting things about the security and the candidates shaking hands with people and all the hoopla that goes on before the debate.

I will hopefully have a good news update before the night is over about how MNSSHP goes. Will the Headless Horseman ride make his famous ride? We shall see.
