I think it was a very wise decision to avoid the parks on New Years Eve!
AKL was the one resort I wanted to check out at Christmas that I didn't get a chance too - the decorations look beautiful
Yum, zebra domes!
I wasn't so wise later in the day.

But only for a brief few moments!
The decorations at AKL are very, very pretty, similar to AKs.
We just ate there last week. Dinner, though. I had bobotie, too. It was okay. We also had falafel and couscous and frufru (or fufu?). Anyway, it was interesting to taste some different things. The ribs and the roast were both very good!
Isn't that a great gift shop? I have some of the same pictures you have.
Zebra domes and a walk around the resort was a nice peaceful way to spend the morning. You know it was crazy in the parks.
Mmmm...falafel. Yummy! We did dinner there once and we both liked it, but we like the breakfast much better.
Love that gift shop! It just takes you in deeper and deeper, there is so much to look at!
Oh ya, we kept hearing reports from various CMs about the status of the parks. I cannot recall what time MK closed, but I don't think it was too shortly after we finished breakfast. Later in the day I experienced some of the craziness.
What a perfect way to spend your last Disney day! I also definitely would not want to fight with NYE crowds, just to see Wishes. It's lovely of course but I bet it's also insane in MK!
I also want that red Mickey shirt with the peace signs. Adorable!!!
Insane is a good word for it!

It's pretty unreal to see/experience!
I very much enjoyed Wishes and the NYE fireworks from my position at the Poly beach. It was a great location!
I was only there just about 6 months - Mark lived out there for over a year. I was with MTV just a few months before transferring to Chicago. I really did not want to leave, but we had to..Mark's company was transferring him back to Chicago.
I agree with you...from him I get "it's too cold."

That's why we went in Sept instead of December for my b-day.
I still cannot believe it's blue. I've seen the photos and have been disappointed and I bet I'll be even moreso when we see it in person. It should be green!
That was very nice of you to share...I think we have a few friends that might not!
Oh, that stinks! Kinda sounds like my last time living here, I didn't want to leave, but I did for the husband! Thankfully he wanted to come back too!
Early December can be very very nice though Mark! Later December is a carp shoot. It was cold our week, except 2 days.
It should be green! Maybe they had a new CM on the job and he misunderstood something?
Oh yes, we both know some people that would NOT share those Domes! I should have bought 2 packs though...!
I know that you said you were upset that you didn't do a plate hidden mickey, but as soon as I saw this picture, I saw a hidden Mickey.
Don't you agree?
You are RIGHT!

I don't recall purposely arranging him that way either....!
Hi Flossbolna,
Miller Brewery is the second largest brewery in the US. The Miller name is everywhere in Milwaukee. Even our baseball statium is is called Miller Park.
We are not only know for beer but also for sausages!! Bratwurst especially! If you are invited to someones house for a cookout in summer you most likely will have brats and burgers being grilled! Mmmmmm.... I think I need to go buy brats after work for dinner. I like to boil them in beer and onions before grilling. I am so anxious to get to Germany to try all the varieties there!

I have sent many a gift box of Usinger's sausages to people for Christmas. It's always a big hit!

We even have racing sausages during the our baseball games here at home.

We have a great German restaurant as well. I haven't eaten there though but my daughter has gone on a trip with her German class from school.

Oooh, this looks like some very tasty research that I need to look into. Being from the midwest myself (Illinois and Minnesota), and German heritage, I love me some brats!! Brats aren't very popular around here in Queens, so maybe I'll just have to order a box and surprise my hubby!
Boma looks so yummy!!!
I love Henry's Hidden Mickey picture, even if he didn't fully cooperate.
Boma is so very tasty. I want to try Tusker House too since it's supposedly pretty similar.
Yes, it was Miller where I read about the beergarden and how popular they were.
More interesting links! I know that Brook loves brats, so I hope she will enjoy those as well!

The Usinger sausages really look like what you can buy at a butcher here.

However, sausage races aren't that common in Germany!
I am getting really interested in this, I am wondering wether I ought to make a trip to Milwaukee one day...
I do love brats! I miss them! We have a small garden area here, perfect for a little grill to make some brats.
Sausage Races. I gotta look into THAT one!
You could do a Milwaukee/Chicago trip they are very close! Madison, Wisconsin is a lovely city as well.
Very smart idea to just spend that last morning relaxing and exploring OUTSIDE the parks!
I agree with Claryche about Henry's breakfast plates making the Hidden Mickey. Can't wait to hear about the DIS meet on the beach from your perspective!
It was a very nice way to start our morning. Later I got a wild hair though...
I figured you might like that!!!

I thought of you while taking that picture!
