A Surprise fit for a Princess...A Pre-Trip Report

Episode Eight: Tentative Plans

Ok, so I've posted about my family, how this trip got started, ADR's, etc. I guess it's time to post about our plans. I will officially be in Florida 4 weeks from today! Holy moly! I can't even believe it. :yay: I'm so excited, yet I have so much to do! Before I post my tentative plans, here's a rundown of things I have to do for the trip and upcoming things in my schedule:

To Do list for trip:
-buy park tickets (I plan to buy them from Undercover Tourist)
-preorder photopass
-verify all reservations (hotel, flights, ADR's, etc)
-laminate my LGMH's and CM appreciation cards (I had no idea either of these existed until I became a Snowbird!)
-buy travel items
-make a ressie for T-Rex
-secret letter for my DD's teacher and school about our vacation

Upcoming Events:
-start choreographing for my ballet classes (have to start their recital dances)
-Season Home Opener for Buffalo Bandits on Jan 3rd (I'm on their dance team!)
-School resumes on Jan 5th
-lots of dance team practices, dance classes to teach and Irish dancing lessons for my DD
-another Bandits game on the 16th (I cannot stand Friday night games!)

I have so much to do and I know this month is going to fly by! Ok, here are the tentative plans!!

JANUARY 24th-Travel day
Our flight leaves Buffalo at 7:45am and we are scheduled to land at MCO at 1:20pm. From there, we need to gather our luggage and pick up our rental car. We'll most likely head over to the hotel to see if our room is ready. I really hope that it will be. We will make a trip to the grocery store sometime that afternoon/evening too. We then are heading to DTD! The World of Disney is one of my favorite places! I could stay there all day. I hope to meet a fellow Snowbird and her family there that evening. We could grab some dinner together (possibly Earl of Sandwich?). Either that or I'll make a ressie for T-Rex. My DD loves dinosaurs! We'll probably be tired from all of our travels, so we won't be out late that night.

JANUARY 25th-Day One -Epcot
I am so excited for our official Day One. It's going to be awesome! It will be so much fun for my DH and DD to experience this park for the first time. We'll start off in Future World (of course) until our PSB Lunch at Akershus. I don't know the order in which we'll do things because I try not to plan it out. After lunch, we'll circle around WS and buy our DD a Kids Passport. We will be staying to watch IllumiNations.

JANUARY 26th-Day Two-MK #1
I hope to make rope drop everyday at every park. I know, we'll be out late and up early, but it doesn't bother me! We have no ADR's this day, so we can do things whenever we'd like. WE HAVE to have dinner at Cosmic Ray's. It's something we do on every single trip to WDW.We have a 2nd day here, so there is no real rush. I HAVE to see Tink on this trip though! This day is an evening EMH (which doesn't apply to us) but I still hope to stay for Spectro and Wishes. If the park starts to fill up, we'll have to watch them on our 2nd MK day.

JANUARY 27th-Day Three-AK
Like I've said, none of us have been here before. The must dos are Kilomanjaro Safari (for all of us) and EE (single rider line for my DH and I). I would love to see Finding Nemo and FOTLK as well. Other than that, we'll just explore and take it all in.

con't on next post......

Ep. Eight: Part Two

JANUARY 28th-Day Four-MK #2
We have our early ADR at CP this day. I can't even explain how excited I am for this! It's another Snowbird meet for sure! I just keep thinking about all the great pictures we'll be able to take of an empty Main Street. But, it's a morning EMH this day, so resort guests will be able to enter at 8am. Our ADR is at 8:05am but don't we get to go in first? I have no idea. We'll hit up whichever attractions we didn't do on MK Day One. We'll also stay for Spectro and Wishes if we didn't get to view them on our first day.

JANUARY 29th-Day Five-DHS
Again, I'm planning on rope drop! We HAVE to hit up TSMM!!! My friend told me all about it and said it was awesome. I also have to ride ToT and RNRC. Voyage of the Little Mermaid is closed this day, and I'm bummed out. I know my DD will love Muppets 3-D though. It's always a good one. :thumbsup2 We have our Fantasmic Dinner pkg at Hollywood & Vine at 4:30pm. That's all we have planned. Then, it's Fantasmic at 7pm. I'm pretty mad at Disney about the hours this day. The park was supposed to stay open until 9 and now it's closing at 7. I was hoping to hang out at the park after Fantasmic. :sad1:

JANUARY 30th-Day Six-?
I have no idea what we're doing on this day. It's the day before we leave. Maybe we can head over to DHS to view Voyage of the Little Mermaid. It's only down from the 27-29th! We'll see I guess. We were planning on buying 4 day park tickets. However, at UT, when you buy 4 days, you get 3 free! We're already doing the parks 5 days in a row. I don't feel like we're wasting days by not using them because we're only really paying for 4. We could head over to DTD again because I love it! Sometime while we're down there, I'd like to see a DVC presentation and we have to see my Uncle. He lives in Orlando and it would be rude to not go see him.

JANUARY 31st-Departure Day
The saddest day of the week.:sad1: Our flight leaves at 10:58am, so we have to get to the airport around 8:30ish I think. We have to return our rental car, check in and get through security.

I hope you've enjoyed reading about our plans so far. Which parks on which days are set in stone (well, AK could get moved to Friday depending on how we're feeling). Once we get closer, I'll probably get some sort of loose touring plan together. I'd like my DD to decide what we're doing, but I don't want to run from one side of the park to the other!

Sounds like an AMAZING trip! I'm so excited for Madison-she's going to flip! I hope you enjoy AK-it's one of our favorite parks. I still haven't seen FOTLK or the Nemo show so I hope the boys will cooperate enough to let mommy do that this time!

I can't wait to surprise Maddie. We still have to figure out how to tell her!

Sounds like you are in a planning mode Meg. They look great.
Try to get in on a photo share. Do a search on here.

Hey Meghan! Great plans! We will definitely catch up at our 805am ADR @ CP on the 28th! We may even bump into each other @ AK on the 27th! That is our "kid's choice day"" I am really hoping they will choose AK so we can see as much as possible! Your plans sound great! Good job! :thumbsup2

I am so incredibly excited about CP! I hope your girls choose AK on the 27th too!

Your plans sound so great!! We may cross paths once in a while. I know we'll be at DHS the same day, so I'll look for you! I'll be the giggly one with the short dark hair and two little girls who look just like me saying "mommy slow down, wait for us!" Hopefully we'll all be in SHORTS!

Shorts sound great right about now! I'll keep my eyes peeled for you!

I wanted to wish all my readers a very safe and Happy New Year!! I can't wait for 2009 because that means Disney!!! I'm 24 days away and couldn't be more excited. I will update soon, I promise. I had a horrible case of the flu on Sunday and have been run down ever since. I'm feeling much better today which is good because I have to clean my house. My older sis and BIL are coming over tonight to celebrate with us. Time to de-germ my house! Happy New Year!

Episode Nine: How Do You Surprise A Princess?

With all the planning I've been doing, I haven't forgotten about the big surprise. I've changed my mind about it a million times! Before I go into my options, I'd like to tell another surprise story:

This past November, I surprised my DD with a small little trip. I received a piece of mail from the DVC. It was about a travel show they were having. It was in Rochester, NY (about an hour away) at the Strong National Museum of Play. My DD LOVES the Strong Museum. Like the name suggests, it's all about playing and we usually spend hours there. So, what could be better than Disney at the Strong Museum?! I emailed in our RSVP and the date was set. I took her out of school and hour early and we were off! I just told her that I was taking her somewhere special and she didn't ask any questions. When we got there, she had the biggest smile on her adorable little face. When I told her that Disney was there, that smile got even bigger! We were given DVC Mickey ears, pins, lanyards.....it was so much fun. We listened to the presentation and had some yummy snacks too. We even got to say hello to some good friends: Mickey & Minnie and Chip & Dale! It was a blast! My DD told me that it was the best surprise ever.

Needless to say, this surprise is a million times bigger and better. I know one thing for sure (ok, almost for sure)...we're not telling her until the day we leave. If we tell her the night before, she will NEVER get to sleep! However, it would be easier to finish packing that night if I told her. Anyways!!! Over on the DISign board, a wonderful woman made me Disney boarding passes. They say "Guess Who's Going to Disney World?" and they have all our info on them (names, date, time, even our off-property hotel! Did I mention they have Tink on them too!). We could give them to her when we wake her up I guess. I have no idea!! Do we tell her when we wake her up, in the car, at the airport, on the plane, when we land??? I'm going crazy with what I think is THE most important part of the trip! My DH does not want to tell her at the airport. He wants her to be able to jump up and down and get all excited without being surrounded by strangers. I also had the idea of making a book. It would be about Princess Madison and how it was always her wish to go to WDW. On the last page it would say, "And today her wish is coming true!" It could be a keepsake item for her. The more I think about it, it would be kinda fun to tell her the night before. I could finish packing without sneaking around, we could talk about Disney together..... AH! I can't make up my mind! Suggestions??

Oh my gosh, I DON"T KNOW!!! I know that doesn't help, but that's such a hard decision! We were planning on telling our oldest when we got there (we're driving), but I can't keep my mouth shut, so he's heard all the planning but doesn't know when we're going. So I don't know if we'll ever actually make it a surprise. Best of luck in your decision! The more I think about it, maybe telling her when you wake her up?? I think I like that idea the best so far.
