A Stringbean, a Wingnut, and a plan! (A January '12 PTR) TRIP REPORT STARTED!! 1/16!!

We went to Sci Fi last year. I loved it but it was freezing as we were under the air conditioning and no jumpers lol

Love Sci-Fi! I was with you about the whole sharing-a-car-with-some-stranger but you ignore that while eating and enjoying the atmosphere. :thumbsup2

We love Sci-Fi....but there are enough of us to just about fill up a car by ourselves. ;)

Sci Fi is so much fun! The food isn't the best, but I love the atmosphere there!

I love the atmosphere there too! I know it sounds strange, but I really adore that picture they have on the walls of the nighttime over the hills.

 Yeah, I'm not going into Sci Fi anticipating culinary excellence, but it should be fun nonetheless! (While we're on the subject, wasn't their menu a lot more burger-based awhile back?)

We're trying SciFi this trip, too! My husband oldest daughter are big B-movie fans, so they picked it. Looks fun!

It does look like fun! Wingnut LOVES those B-movies, so I know he'll enjoy watching the clips (and I enjoy them as well!)

Ooh thanks for the heads up! I hate being freezing in restaurants, it's so hard to relax and eat while shivering!

That's what I figured would happen! In theory it gives me pause, but I'm easily distracted by campy humor and food!

GAH! How did I miss this?? There could potentially be a life altering duet of "We Go On" and we could trap helpless park goers in Norway indefinitely (Now if that isn't a plan worthy of Doofenshmirtz, I don't know what is!)

In case you didn't get it from that nonsense - I'm going in January too!!

Though, not that I know Wingnut is not a fan of fried cheese curds, I'm not sure I can be his friend :rotfl:

Your list of restaurants was making me drool! I lurve Disney food!

Yay for your trip being booked. I too am waiting for the airfare to open up, it's driving me totally crazy!!

There's so much to comment on, but Ice loves Coco is on.... so um... you will have to wait :rotfl::rotfl:

Sci - Fi...All right - we are doing a Sci Fi lunch in December. I will be sure to take lots of pix (like I wasn't going to do that already). :lmao: I want a burger and a shake. Oh yeah - and Onion Rings!

Yay you've joined into my ramblings for the next 6 months!!!

Um, what?!?! Oh man, Illuminations will never be the same (at least, for the entire TRI-STATE AREA!!!)!! When are you going? I'll PM you our dates!

Hahaha I think he's just perturbed by the idea of the curds, but given one, I would be shocked if he didn't take a bite. I love Disney food too! Chicken just seems extra awesome and magical in Lake Buena Vista.

What airline are you waiting on? I know, I was starting to click on JetBlue's site like 5 times a day!

:lmao: That's okay, I wasn't on the Dis last night because Wingnut and I were watching America's Got Talent.

Hahaha yay thanks!!! Ahh a burger and onion rings and B-movie clips sounds wonderful right now...

My dh and I had a great time at Sci-Fi two years ago. I think there were in fact people that they sat in our 'car' but we sure didn't notice or care because we were having too much fun watching the previews. All in all, that part wasn't a huge deal, in my experience.

I will say, we probably could have split a meal, though-they have these 'adult' milk shakes that are great but really filling, so I remember wishing that we had just split a sandwich or something after drinking those.

I didn't know I was the owner of so many toothpick glasses. I've been using them wrong, I guess :rolleyes1

I hope you get to Jellyrolls... we finally did after refusing to pay the cover on a previous trip. It was totally worth it; they are great!!

We love Sci Fi. I'm kinda obsessed with onion rings, and theirs are awfully tasty. Mmmm. Is it lunch, yet?

That's what I'm kind of thinking is going to happen...I'm a pretty easily distracted person!

Thank you for that tip! I'm glad you mentioned that! We were deliberating Beaches and Cream for dinner that night, but we're thinking about doing Sci-Fi on the day we arrive, so I'm probably going to book it for around 12:30 or 1 to be safe (we land around 10).

Anyways, I'm worried we won't be hungry for dinner until it's prime time at the ADR-less Beaches and Cream. Maybe splitting a meal there would be a good option.

(Is it strange I'm concerned about our hunger levels more than 6 months from now? :rotfl:)

:lmao: I'm thinking the toothpick thing is just a suggestion...

I hope so too! I've heard such fun things about it!

Ooh I love onion rings. Hahaha it's dangerous to think about Disney food between meals!

As I PMed you, our dates do overlap, all those who value their hearing should probally be warned :lmao::lmao:

Being a Wisconsinite, Cheese Curds (fried or un-fried alike) are a basic food group.

Mmmm... magical chicken, like the sticky wings from Kona Cafe. Mmmmmmm.

Frontier or AirTran/Southwest. I so wish jet blue flew out of Milwaukee. I'm mad jealous you have your flights already.

Yay!!!!!! :cool1: Oh man, even if we don't attempt a rendition of "We Go On", people will still probably be partially deaf after I start yelling "JOANNA!!!!!!!!!!" across World Showcase Lagoon. Wingnut is CONSTANTLY telling me that I'm being too loud (and that's on a normal day!).

Hey, I'm definitely planning on giving those curds a shot! They're not as much a prevalent item in the Northeast (at least where I'm from), so I'm intrigued!

Boo I never got to try those sticky wings, because of my ginger allergy! I saw all these people around me having them, and was becoming super-envious!

I'll cross my fingers that they release their schedules soon for you!!! :wizard:

(Is it strange I'm concerned about our hunger levels more than 6 months from now? :rotfl:)

Um....maybe it's strange but you're asking the wrong person here, since I just spent all of last week "finalizing for real this time" all of our Dec. ADRs.....:rotfl2:

Hahaha finalizing for real in December now??? My finalizing for real ADR plan happens probably a week before we go. Before then, no guarantees! :rotfl:

(If you pretend that the green Mickeys are blue, this makes a lot more sense. Also, for my lactose-intolerant friends, this is coconut milk "ice cream", which is very coconutty and tasty (albeit a tad more pricey than other non-dairy frozen confections made with soy or rice)).

I totally see the Mickeys in those sprinkles (or jimmies, whichever you want to call them). Is that the So Delicious coconut ice cream? It's actually really good, isn't it?

Wingnut and I took another look at our dining plans, and started arranging our days, leading to an ADR addition to the plans!

Sci-Fi Dine-In?? popcorn::

Excellent choice! We truly love it here, the food is good and the atmosphere is incredibly unique.

Wingnut and I are pretty excited about going here. To say that he adores the B-movies from the 1950's is a huge understatement. So the previews are a huge draw for him, and I enjoy watching them as well. I also think the atmosphere of Sci-Fi is really fun, as much as I am not a huge fan of the whole "sharing a car with another group of people" thing. But I can get past that (she says while sitting on her couch at home )...

Oh, then Wingnut will LOVE it here! The clips are hilarious and offer so much entertainment. My favorite was the Attack of the 50 Foot Woman! I also really enjoyed all the cutesy dancing food commercials they used to use for the snack bar at real drive-ins. So fun!

As for tweaking ADR's, honey I've been known to tweak while AT Disney...:rolleyes1 I'm not ashamed to admit it, go ahead and judge me now!

I think you and Wingnut will do just fine, tweaking is part of the process anyway. It's hard trying to imagine what you'll be hungry for 180 days beforehand.

When planning a Disney trip, no concern is strange. We've all done the same thing when it comes to planning our ADR's, yet in the real world, I don't have a clue what I'm eating - when, where, or why - six months from now. :)

I realized after reading through I forgot to sub in popcorn:: looking forward to seeing what ADR's you get and more your planning!

J~

Sci Fi sounds really fun! It seems like everyone's complaint was that having a large group was cumbersome in the cars, so a group of two sounds like the perfect size for Sci Fi.

I really wanted to try Beaches and Cream, but with no reservations and since we're eating at the Plaza (plus five zillion other burger places it feels like), my boyfriend chose Kouzzina. I'm hoping to convince him to at least stop by for some ice cream!

It is the So Delicious!!! Good job identifying your non-dairy frozen confections!!! I liked this brand, it was pretty good! The only thing was it was slightly pricey, so I felt compelled to make each spoonful count!

I haven't been to Sci-Fi in YEARS, so I'm really excited to go back! And I know Wingnut will love the clips and the atmosphere, those B-movies are right up his alley!

Hahaha I totally called Disney Dining from MK last December! That was when we were kinda "meh" about going to Kona Cafe for lunch, and were considering something else. :rotfl:

I can barely decide what I'm hungry for in the next hour, let alone 6 months from now! But for Disney, I'll definitely make an educated guess!
