A Stringbean, a Wingnut, and a plan! (A January '12 PTR) TRIP REPORT STARTED!! 1/16!!

I love the feel that you get when you step on Main Street for the first time during your trip, I just love it.

There is nothing like it. We just stand there a minute trying to grasp that we are really back. It doesn't matter if we were just there two months earlier. It feels special every time.

I love Adventureland as well, but I really like Tomorrowland too...and Liberty Square! And Main Street! :)

Although I'm a bit late (err... two months late) I'm thrilled to have finally given up my lurking ways and actually joined your report! I loved reading your previous two reports, not only because they were very well done, but also because we have something in common: I am also part of the open heart surgery club! I'm afraid I have you beat, though... I've had five of 'em.

I'm thrilled to see you're doing so well--it's great to pass the one year mark. Isn't it stunning how much better you feel when your heart actually works the way it's supposed to? :thumbsup2

As for my favorite land, I have to go with Tomorrowland. That fantastic place has Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, the Peoplemover, and the Carousel of Progress. Not to mention several yummy food locations. (It also has Stitch's Great Escape... I guess no land is perfect.) ;)

I'm going with Liberty Square but you probably already knew that from my report. :lmao: Although, Maine Street is probably my very favorite area. I love the feel that you get when you step on Main Street for the first time during your trip, I just love it.

:rotfl: I already thought of that, none of our answers are going to be surprises to each other! I do love Main Street. You're right, it just feels so magical and anticipatory there. And there's so many little hidden secrets and backstories along the way, it's such a great area of the park!

I totally agree! It really is special each time that you see the castle for the first time in a trip. (The Epcot ball has the same effect on me as well )

I love Adventureland as well, but I really like Tomorrowland too...and Liberty Square! And Main Street! :)

:rotfl: They're all great, aren't they? I'll show some love for Frontierland too, I adore the theming there. And Fantasyland, of course, with the classic rides! What would Magic Kingdom be without "it's a small world", I ask!

Hi, welcome!! :yay: You're not late at all, our trip isn't for another 5 months! Thank you!! I'm glad that you joined on board!

Wow...you are definitely a strong person! I can't imagine doing that 5 times! I'll be sending you best and healthy wishes! :wizard:

Tomorrowland is really fun, I love all the touches there! And it does have some of the most fantastic rides - the TTA, Monster's Laugh Floor (that's in Tomorrowland, right?), and OF COURSE the Carousel of Progress! :lovestruc

Main Street! I get that giddy feeling just being there :goodvibes

Favorite Park - Heck - I think it changes every trip and has alternated between Epcot, MK, and AK. I don't HS has ever made it to number 1. :rotfl: Maybe it will this trip with those changes to Star Wars. I can't wait to ride that over and over and over.......

Favorite land in MK - Tomorrowland. Can't help it. I will always be nostalgic about the first ride on Space Mtn. Same routine during every trip I took when my kids where younger. Oh - and I love the Blue Line or People Mover!

Day 2's question - How about you? What's your favorite land in the Magic Kingdom? :goodvibes

I was thinking wait didn't I just answer this :rotfl: no that was on LL PTR...

so I answered Main Street on LL's report and truly that is my fav "land" at MK...but to spice things up I'll give you my second favorite area in MK:

I love Frontierland...w/ the boardwalks (carefully slippery when wet :rolleyes1) and the store fronts and just open expanse as you walk through...it's one of my favorite places to watch a parade from too :thumbsup2

You can't tell this in Frontierland...but this is from our 2009 trip and Naomi-Ruth was 2 yrs old and having a great fun time hanging out by the trees and playing w/ the mulch while waiting for a parade.

Cereal truly is the meal of champions! My personal favorite is Honey Bunches of Oats ! But yes, a good substitute is an ice cream bar!

I would say, from the small amount of boar that I've had, that it is like very tender and lean beef. It was very much like eating filet mignon (at least, the Jiko appetizer was!). Anyone with more boar experience than I, feel free to chime in!

We're not character people either (at ALL), but I don't think I would pass up the opportunity to meet Phineas and Ferb if I encountered them (with a reasonable wait, of course!). I do get what you mean about them looking strange in pictures, but I tend to think that all of the characters do, kind of . Maybe because (at least the not-face characters) are just so big and don't talk?

It's funny, I love watching Phineas and Ferb, and it usually happens to be on when I am flipping through the channels. Wingnut always wanders by like, "is this the 24-hour Phineas and Ferb network??" :rotfl:. (Not that I'd be complaining if it was!)

Honey Bunches of Oats is so good! And honey nut cheerios. Anything with honey or in the shape of an O, it seems like. ;) We always at Oh's growing up - maybe a regional thing, but it was like mixing Cap'n Crunch and the non-sparkle flakes of Honey Bunches of Oats. That and my other guilty pleasure cereal (marshmallow Fruit Loops) are only available at one store each (and separate stores to boot!) out here, so my cereal intake has decreased dramatically. And my one cat loves cereal too - he'll try and sneak pieces (or marshmallows) out of my bowl when I'm not looking, so I have to share whenever I do have my favorites! :lmao:

Okay! I asked my boyfriend and he was like ".. it's not just like pork?" And then I felt silly. It sounds good, though!

I wish that they would put more characters as face characters. Like Lilo - she's a person, why not have a real person (well, besides just in the costume!) be her? It would be more difficult with P&F's signature head shapes, but at least we now have the answer the age-old question of what a triangle head would look like in 3D (not so great)! I think it was on the cruise ships that they have the one restaurant with the "interactive" TVs - that would be cool for a P&F character dining experience.

We marathonned it on Netflix via Roku so my boyfriend was at least complicit in the decision! Then again, we marathon a lot of shows since being able to stream through the TV (Battlestar Galactica :sad1:).

And to be on topic (kind of. maybe.), my favorite park is probably Epcot and my favorite land is most likely Fantasyland but I am the worst at picking favorites! It'll probably change next time I see pictures or a commercial or, you know, blink.

So many people are saying Main Street that I was compelled to post this as well...enjoy!

Main Street! I get that giddy feeling just being there :goodvibes

I definitely agree! Listen to the link above, it totally gets me in that "I want to go to Magic Kingdom RIGHT NOW!!!" mood .

Favorite Park - Heck - I think it changes every trip and has alternated between Epcot, MK, and AK. I don't HS has ever made it to number 1. :rotfl: Maybe it will this trip with those changes to Star Wars. I can't wait to ride that over and over and over.......

Hahaha aww poor DHS!!! While I do love it there, I doubt it can ever be my definite number one favorite either! The top 3 are pretty close in my list though!

I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing the new Star Tours ride! I think it's so cool that it has different ride sequences!

When I was first looking at the question, I was pretty quick to bump Tomorrowland down my favorites list. But now everyone's answers are making me think of how much I love it there! I don't think there's a land that I dislike really (it's just which ones I love MORE!).

I love Frontierland too. I think that one has one of my more favorite (too many favorites to have a definite one!) area musics. The store fronts just make that Frontierland complete, don't they?

That's such a cute picture of Naomi-Ruth!! She looks like she's being very patient waiting for the parade! :goodvibes That's outside the stretch of storefronts, isn't it? I always love peeking in the stores there!

I've never heard of marshmallow froot loops? That sounds pretty awesome. The newest cereal Wingnut has brought home is S'mores cereal, it's pretty good!

I've wondered why Lilo isn't a face character, but then I was thinking maybe it's because she's supposed to be a little girl, so they probably wouldn't be able to find anyone to really portray her. A P&F dining experience would be a lot of fun! (I also think a Toy Story character meal is LONG overdue!)

We love watching TV with the Netflix (I think no commercials is one of my favorite parts ). Netflix has SO many episodes of P&F, I was almost overwhelmed when I first saw it! Where do I even begin?? :rotfl:

I'm terrible at picking favorites too (but Fantasyland is a great choice too...I love that it has so many of the classic rides jam-packed in there! When people ask me what my favorite color is, I'm like "umm...today I'll say green!", because it really does change every minute . What can I say? I love them all! Or I'm just incredibly fickle...:rolleyes1

I'm sure by now everyone has noticed that Free Dining has been extended into 2012!!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

Wingnut and I were very excited about this development, and I jumped right on the phone this morning and added it to our reservation! :yay:

But before I actually called Disney, Wingnut and I went through the numbers...and decided that with this promotion, we would look at prices for some of the other resorts!

We are now officially booked at....

hmmm. Well that's no fun if I just tell you right away, now is it??? :upsidedow

(I'm mean, I know. I even did the suspensful spacing.)

Guess what resort Wingnut and I will be staying at in January!!

(one hint: it is not Wilderness Lodge)

I'm so bummed. Free Dining starts after we switch to the DVC rental I got. I was really hoping to add it or a room only discount to the first three days of my stay.

Can't wait to hear where you are staying!

Um.... so not fair to tease me like that.

Meanie! :rotfl:

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you booked at an Epcot resort :rotfl2:

Don't know which place, but I know it will be exciting.

I, too, made a Disney phone call today. I may have added one trip for the spring with the free dining, just in case it does work out for me to go. :goodvibes

Ooooooh!! I don't know where you are going! I'm going with......Beach Club....or Boardwalk. Can I have two guesses??

Hi! I just read all your updates and am joining in. I really like your plans, and to catch up with the questions: Epcot, and Adventure Land. I have an odd love of the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House.

Congrats on free dining! Now that they've extended it, it really makes me want to book a quick weekend trip in December!! Probably won't be doing that, but the temptation is there!

I'm going to guess you're staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, since everyone is guessing an Epcot resort! :thumbsup2

TEASE!! :rotfl:

My guess is the Boardwalk. I'm going with the our-favorite-resort-is-epcot-and-we-have-to-be-close-to-it theory. :lmao:
