How do you get all of your groceries to your room at BCV, BWV, or VWL? This past summer we just made many trips to the car and alot of the water, pop and snacks we brought with us didn't get brought up because it was such a hassle. I suppose most of you just drop stuff off with a bell hop and have them deliver it but I wasn't sure what to tip for bags of groceries. Can somebody please give me some advice?

Thanks,

Pull up to the front, let the bellhop unload the groceries, and tip him accordingly for delivery. I guess it depends on how many bags there are, but for say 10-15 plastic bags and a case of water I'd give $10 and adjust upwards from there.

Ran into the same issue. Stayed at BCV and ran out to Winn-Dixie for a little shopping and came back with about 5 bags of groceries. Used the stroller for about three bags and we had a little carrier thing that we bought at KMart (I think) for 10 bucks to haul the car seat around the airport. It completely folds up and takes little space. If you don't have a stroller handy, I'd highly recommend using the carrier cart on wheels. Just my 2 cents here.

When my Mom and I stayed at BWV earlier this month, we had 4 bags of groceries from Winn Dixie (smaller plastic bags). I valet parked and we each took 2. The bellman did offer to help, but we declined.

One evening I was walking down the hall and there was a bellman pushing 1 cart and pulling another. I noticed along with luggage there were 2 large plastic bins, you could see boxes of cereal through one. So if you have a large load, having the bellman bring it up would be a good idea. I agree that at least a $10 tip would be in order for 2 carts.

Our most recent trip this past Oct, included 10 people. A 2dr and a Studio at VWL. We stayed at ASMov the 1st night down and everyone freaked at the $3.50 for a bottle of water:eek: It was unseasonably warm , with record breaking temos in the 90's :p So the next day we went to SAMs and Publix. 10 bags of groceries and 6 cases of water :bounce: :bounce: :bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:
You should have seen the look on the bellmans face when we opened the trunk:rolleyes: I could hear him thinking,"Crazy DVCer's!" Gave him a twenty$ tip. Would you believe there was only 1 botlle of water (out of 144) left when we headed out for the airport 6 days later.

When we were at BCV and came back from the Publix with several bags of groceries, we asked the valet if we could borrow their cart. They knew us by then and said "sure". We promptly returned it within minutes.

They wouldn't have kitchens if they didn't expect us to use them. Bell Services is the way to go and the tip should be appropriate to the quantity of groceries. It's worth it for the water alone!

This past Dec trip to VWL we emptyed out our large roller suitcase and brought it with us to the store, filled it at the car and rolled it into the hotel. Looked like luggage. Much easier than the bags.

That's just it though. What is appropriate? I've always heard $1 per bag for luggage but I sure wouldn't want to tip $1 per bag for groceries. So a dollar for how many bags of groceries. I don't want to cheat them but I don't want over do it either.

By the way tiggerfreak, we brought that much water with us from home plus some gatorade. Most of it came back home with us because of all the other stuff we had to take to the rooms. We always said we would come back for it but never did.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm not sure what is appropriate, but I usually give the standard tips for bagage (1 per bag and $1 for every two of the kids little Bags). When I went for groceries I just tipped $5.00 for bringing them up ( 1 case of water and four of the paper bags). Remember that plastic bags hold less groceries so there will seem to be a lot of bags, but often with very little in them. If you get a choice at the register ask for paper in plastic and they can really fill them up. I do like the rolling suitcase idea, but for now I'll just let bell services help me out!
