A strange Ebay situation

LOL, I am finding this confusing as well. Even if paypal says that you can ship with one delivery confirmation number, what if the person claims they got one but not the other. How do you prove both purchases were in the package. Along the same note, how is printing a delivery confirmation from paypal any proof that you ever actual mailed the package? I understand the PO methods and confirmation of receipt, etc. but not sure that I understand how the paypal deliver confirmations work.[/QUOTE]

An even more interesting twist on this is you could mail an EMPTY box and still have a DC for it - couldn't you? You could even mail TWO empty boxes and have a DC for BOTH..

Now I'm beginning to wonder about the wisdom of using DC at all!

It isn't. Apparently it's not really prove of shipping you need, but proof of delivery. You get that proof when the mailman scans it just before he pops it in your mailbox. They carry portable scanners.

That's right, and then there would not be a chargeback..so it's important you try to ebay with honest people. Check feedback. And to answer your other question, you can't prove both items were in the one box..but the recipient can't prove they weren't, and as long as you have proof of her getting something from you, you're all square with Paypal. That's not Paypal's problem..they only say you have to show proof of delivery.

These are mostly far reaching examples (well, except someone on the eBay board did get just a brick in a box once, and wasn't able to do a chargeback). After all these years of eBaying, the percentage of dishonest people trying to claim they didn't get a package is low. Otherwise most of us would quit. The biggest problem isn't with someone who ships and combines sales, but with the person who doesn't ship, and has no proof. That is who Paypal is meaning to help get a chargeback. Not saying (before someone jumps on me) that it doesn't happen once in awhile (and usually when someone has told me they didn't get a package, it's sitting at the postoffice, or a neighbor took it in..once I tell them I have proof, it shows up), but that isn't the norm, thank God.

As far as the wisdom of using it..it keeps honest people honest.

Well you know how I was when I was doing eBay.. I would have rather walked on hot coals than send a package without DC.. LOL
