Our recent trip to Walt Disney World was for 12 days in November. On the last day we got up and packed all our "stuff", it had been a wonderful vacation - the Dolphin is a very Kool Resort.

We packed all out belongings in the rented car and headed for MK, our plane did not leave until 7:00 PM so we had a full day ahead of us.

We arrived at the park, security checked all our packs and we were off to have fun. The first thing we did was get on the train and take a ride around the park. Then we were off to Splash Mountain.

After Splash we headed over to see the Country Bear Jamboree Christmas show. On the way I stopped to get a soda, OMGosh, My wallet is not in my fanny pack! Panic sets in, but I'm determined to not let this spoil an otherwise wonderful vacation.

So I head back to splash and stand there for 20 - 30 minutes as each log goes by and they check the floor of the second seat. No luck!

DW and I agree that we should follow our plan for the day and head over to Big Thunder for a ride. Now I must admit that there was still about $700. in cash in the wallet, 4 CC, Drivers Lic., Etc.. You get the idea of what is going through my mind as I try to not ruin anyones day.

As we are getting on Big Thunder I realize that I have "no picture ID" to get on the plane. Now the panic really sets in inside me. With the new security at airports I'm not going home with the family today, am I?

Well after Big Thunder we head back to the RR station and ask the CM if anyone turned in a wallet - no luck...

So we ride back to the front of the park and head for city hall. I tell the CM I'm looking for a wallet. He asks did you loss it today. I respond YUP!. He asks me to describe it. I do. He says - bet it has your picture in it! I say, You are making ma a happy man right now! He goes in back and returns with my wallet - all intact - money - everything.

Turns out when I had security check my fanny pack, I did not zip the pouch before slinging it around my waist and buckleing it. The wallet fell out right there outside the entrance and some wonderful stranger picked it up and turned it in.

Thank You! Whoever you are.......

Glad to hear it had a happy ending! I can only imagine how panicked you were. A few years ago, I was going through security at the airport with my 2YO DS and forgot to pick up my fanny pack after I passed through the metal detector. Fortunately, I realized it within a couple of minutes, but I still remember the panic inside of me!

Glad to hear you had a wonderful trip!

That is a happy ending. I can't imagine how hard it would be to get home if you lost your only photo ID.

My nephew was swimming in the Contempory pool and found a wallet (at the bottom of the pool) containing money, credit cards, Hopper pass, and driver's license.

He gave the wallet to my mother who discovered that it belonged to the brother of her best childhood friend.

A quick look around the pool - and she found the owner! Plus she had the fun of seeing a long ago buddy.

It's a Small World After All

Isn't it wonderful that there are such honest people in this world? Thank you for sharing this positive story.

Wow! An amazing story! What amazes me the most though is the part about you still having $700 left in your wallet at the end of your vacation! LOL I feel good if I get back home with $7!

Wow, Ron! I'm so glad you got your wallet back. What would you have done without id at MCO?

I'm going to move this to the trip reports board for you. Thanks for posting this for us to enjoy.

You are a very lucky Man!! I can only imagine the panic you must have felt knowing that you had no picture id and even worse than that, all that money and credit cards!

You are a lucky man. Wish we had been as fortunate. About 4 years ago I took my father to Busch Gardens Williambsurg. He lost his wallet. It was turned in almost immediately but without the money ($500). Whoever took the money decided to leave the credit card and all the other information so it could have been worse.

Great story with a happy ending!!! Never underestimate the good in people.

Hope the rest of your trip went well, thanks for posting.

I too lost my wallet at MK, actually it inadvertently slipped out of my pocket.

At any rate, my wallet "beat" me back to City hall on Main Street and after I described it, the CM went to the back room and retrieved it. I was so relieved it was completely intact that I just thanked the CM profusely and left.

After I got myself composed outside, my good sense crept back into my head. It dawned on me that I never even asked or inquired as to who it was that found my wallet. So I went back to City Hall and asked the CM if they knew anything about who found and returned my wallet.

It turns out that they maintain information about the "finder" in an index card file. It turns out that the individual who was kind enough to find and return my lost wallet was a 7 year old boy from Nashua, Mass. The CM let me have his family's mailing address and I was able to send him a reward for his kind thoughtfulness.

Best thing I ever did thanks to Disney and they great people who go there!

Wonderful story! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, these are such wonderful stories. Gives me goosebumps.
Does anyone outthere have any more stories?

Thanks for sharing....I love lost and FOUND stories from Disney.....

What a great story!

That's neat that Disney keeps a file for who turned in lost items. I wonder if it's just for items of real value. What does happen to stuff that isn't claimed?

:) Great story! It nice to know there are still some good honest people out there!
