A stomach bug while pregnant.....

So sorry for you.

Hopefully it will pass soon.

.....absolutely sucks :crazy2:

That is all.

I hear you.

My last pregnancy I got the flu. In fact it was over Thanksgiving (at my house that year!) and my mom, who was visiting, also got it. Not a very pleasant holiday. But, at least, I didn't have to cook .

Get well.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. :flower3:

I'm not 100% sure its a stomach bug, but I feel like it is. I've been terribly nauseous with stomach issues throughout this pregnancy (even now in my second trimester), but today was waaaay worse-vomiting & diarrhea throughout much of the day & just different.

I feel bad for my sweet little toddler, who kept looking at me earlier with a worried face saying "Mama's ok?" :(

I hear you.

Ugh that sounds awful! It is always a plus not to have to cook on Thanksgiving lol ;)

I will say that it sucks being sick anytime with a stomach ailment, but during pregnancy, I was able to get over it faster. My doctor had prescribed the anti-nausea medication, Zofran. I phoned the doctor and she told me to change the dosage and to eat yogurt. I didn't want to eat. "Um, my stomach is not agreeing with any food." :lmao: Surprise! It worked. Within 8 hours I was able to eat and no more ailment. I was tired and weak for a few more days, but it stopped the initial problems.

Best of luck it stops soon. And give that helper a big hug.

Yogurt, huh? Thanks for the tip. All I have in the house is green lemon or lime flavored-does it have to be plain yogurt? Maybe I will try some in the morning.

I tried to eat some scrambled eggs & toast for dinner, because I was worried about nourishment (all I really ate today was toast and crackers), but was unable to keep any of it down. Been trying to sip water and ginger ale.

ohhh... I'm sorry. I remember getting a stomach virus on my due date with DD. DH had it also we both felt terrible and couldn't keep anything down. I went to the dr to be monitored bc I was worried that I was dehydrated. The nurse kept trying to convince me that vomiting and diarrhea were a sign of labor and I was like "Listen unless my husband is in labor too this is a stomach virus". It was, it passed on it's own and 6 days later I delivered my DD!

Oh goodness!! What a labor story, huh?

I was up half the night vomiting and diarrhea last night. Woke up this morning weak, sore throat, & my tummy feels fragile and icky, but better than yesterday. I was able to eat a few crackers at breakfast, some tea, and a little apple juice. I'm currently several hours away at my parents house with my DD, while my DH installs a new subfloor in our guest room/soon to be nursery, and he just called thinking he also has a stomach bug-ugh! I'm just praying that my DD doesn't catch it as well :(

Any flavor yogurt. It's all a matter of what your taste buds like. Thought of another thing I learned during the last pregnancy--potatoes. Prepared anyway. I try to avoid fried foods but that was what stuck with me. Asked doc and she said that many women handle it with french fries. Doesn't make any sense. Wouldn't oil make it worse?

Scrambled eggs was a good thing to try. And as for not eating anything except for crackers--that is what they recommend on the BRAT diet for all stomach problems. Banana, Rice, Applesauce, dry Toast (or crackers).

Are you on a prenatal? They will help with your baby's nutrients during this temporary state of affairs. Just relax for the best of your ability.

Thank you :) Funny enough, potatoes seem to be my "craving food" for this pregnancy. Mashed, fries, cubed in a stew type dish. I normally don't care for them at all, but I've been seeking them out during this pregnancy. I practically lived on small portions of mashed potatoes for the first 10 weeks-it was one of the only things I could stomach.

I just had some chicken broth with a little white rice. Hoping I will keep it down. I might try the yogurt later.

Yes, I take a vegetarian prenatal. I'm not sure I kept it down last night (threw up about 20 minutes after I took it), but overall, I take one daily.
