Well this weekend my 3 year old god-daughter stuck a sticker waaay up her nose. Her mother had to get it out with a pair of tweezers. It was so hard to contain our laughter at this - what a child.

So this leads me to ask . . . .

Have you ever stuck anything up your nose or has your child? Any funny stories out there, I know there has to be!

OH, I have one!

My dad had brain & heart surgery back in the 80's. Big deal, out-of-state, blah blah. So, we're at my dad's cardiologist one time, in the waiting room while my dad was seeing the doctor. My brother (maybe 6 yrs old) started playing with these paper clips. My mom saw what was coming and told him NOT to put it in his mouth! Few minutes later... brother is choking (but breathing). The boy put the thing up his nose! The cardiologist came out to help get it out -- it wound up coming out of his mouth. Of course, to get out of trouble, he says, "I didn't put it in my mouth!" What a proud day.

Nothing bad at all for me, just a marble at one point. Fortunately my brother helped me get it out so we didn't have to tell my mom :teeth:

My youngest DD has put a bead up her nose on 2 occassions!! We had to go to the ER.

Both times she had it stuck way up in her sinus cavity!! The first time it came out fairly easy but the second time was a scare. It took the doctor quite a while to get it out!! He had to stop and let her relax a little and then said if he didn't get it out this time he would have to sedate her!! Luckily it came out!!

She hasn't done it again............but then again.......she's only 4!! I do hope she learned her lesson..........

Talk to my mother....this is her FAVORITE story that she LOVES to embarass me with-------

Remember those Don't Spill the "Beans" Games???????????

Last Thanksgiving we were getting ready to go to dinner and my 7yo dd was watching T.V. She started screaming that there was a golf ball in her nose. We of course, could not fathom that, but she was getting hysterical. I got a kleenex and told her to blow. Her nose started to bleed but no golf ball.

Into the car and to Emergency. She told her golf ball story and they barely raised an eyebrow. They put this small thin tube up her nose and inflated an end once it was in there. The inflated part pulls down whatever is stuck. It was the first time they used this tool so the entire ER was watching. Out came a golf ball! A barbie golf ball, but still, a golf ball. They all had a good laugh about that, cracking jokes abuot Ken making a hole in one, etc......

My eldest was a good one for sticking things up his nose, paper, mulch, beads, usually done at preschool. The best one was when I got a call from the preschool. A very composed voice came over the phone saying Mrs. A can you please come to the school right away. I thought for sure something was horribly wrong and asked what was going on. She said. Ummmm we need you to remove some styrofoam from your sons nose. I flew out of work, ran to the store to buy blunt nosed tweezers and ran to the school. There I was in the middle of the hall with a huge audience removing styrofoam pieces from my sons nose!

Me...about 4 years old...the orange top of the Elmer's glue bottle. I have no idea what I was thinking. I remember Dad being quite annoyed and on the phone with the doctor while mom tried to get it out. My older brother finally succeeded...must be a boy thing...willing to investigate someone else's nostril. ;)

Love the gold ball story!

Anyone remember the story on the DIS about the child getting a Mickey confetti stuck up her nose at a WDW restaurant??

Yes! I have a story! (Warning for the squeemish, this is gross!) Years ago a friend at work's DS (about 4 years old at the time) managed to tear off a piece of a Nerf Ball and put it up his nose. The problem was, nobody knew!
Several days later the boy started to get a runny nose and his parent's thought he just had a cold....well this "cold" wouldn't quit, and the running progressed into 'stuffy' and several days after that...the child began to STINK! :eek
When the doctors saw him they had a tough time getting it out as, (trying not to be too disgusting here  ) his sinus cavity sort of grew tissue around it, ick! eek! Poor kid!!

Yuck, PandyPaws....and I didn't even think I was squeamish.

Thanks for these stories!! They are good.

LOL - love the golf ball one though! I was tryiing to picture a small child with their nostril all huge from a golf ball! :)

I know someone who works at a children's hospital- and BOY do they have stories about kids and noses! LOL

Did anyone see the Simpsons when Homer stuck a crayon up his nose and he got smarter? LOL He was then looking for a place for smart people. He was passing by places with dumb people in them and the Disney Store was one of them!

My sister put some foam up in her nose when she was about 3. She had to go to the doctor to get it out.

DD put an M&M up her nose when she was 3. By the time she told me and I took her to the pediatrician, it had been dissolving. They pulled out a couple of remnants. Thank God she did not use a peanut one, just a plain M&M, LOL!!!

Christine, could this sweet child be Julie by any chance?? :teeth:

Oh no Dan, not sweet little Julie. She is the perfect little angel. (and if you believe that one....) LOL I told Chrissi to save so that when she gets older she can show it off to Julie's men! LOL

CAK - yes very lucky it was not a peanut one - that would have to hurt!!

My DD stuck an earring up her nose. She stuck it in with the round part first so it got stuck really bad. We had to take her into the doctors office to have it removed.

My sister stuck an eraser up her nose when she was bored at the bank with mom. She was about 3 and we still tease her about it.

unrelated sort of.
My son(6weeks old) a very good baby never cried started to cry on and off so i did all the things change, feed rock ect. still he would not stop whimpering so I rocked him some more. At last he went to sleep. The next morning it started over I looked him over from head to toe and could not find anything. I was getting worried so I went to my mom's house where she could give him a look and she found nothing. Later that day I was standing him on his feet where he could bounce and he favored one foot I took his sock off and he had a hair wrapped around two of his toes cutting into the skin so bad I could not get it off. The toe had turned prupleI knew it had been there for almost 24 hrs. I freak and call 911 they came and cut the hair off his toe and all was well, but I told the story to the nurses when he went for his check-up and they said it happens all the time will long hair and doll hair. One child lost two fingers because of a doll she had :(

I didn't. I did swallow a button once and a penny. I remember worrying what would happen to my tummy. I was about 3 or 4.

My dd didn't. Seems like my ds did, but I can't remember what it was (he's known for trying to drive me slowly insane;) ).
