This was 1976. I was a freshman in high school and had to write a paper for my World Geography class. We had a fairly young and inexperienced teacher. I decided to write on Iraq-- primarily because my older sister was dating a guy from Iraq.

So, I write my paper and I get an A or A- on it. The only real comment from the teacher was that I spelled "Iraqui" wrong. I forgot the "u". LOL I corrected him.

I doubt he'd make that mistake now-a-days.

Sounds like California! (I was born and raised there!)

Reminds me of a Texan story. (Where I call home now!)

Texan goes to Aspen skiing for the first time. Not knowing his way around he slides up to what looks like an employee and says, "Excuuuse mae! Could you please tell mae where the ski lift is?" Aspen employee in a snooty voice: " We here in Aspen never end our sentences in prepositions!" Texan pauses deep in thought...then says, "Excuuuse mae! Could you please tell mae where the ski lift is...As#!ole?"

:)

I have a similar memory. I was in the sixth grade and I had to do a history project on a European country. I don't know the reason, but I picked France. Perhaps because my brother was taking French at the time???

Anyway, I think I got an A or B on it, but emblazoned in my handwriting on the cover page was the name: "FANCE" LOL!!!!! I had mistakenly left out the R.

I still have a great love and respect for France because of what I learned in the 6th grade about that country and her people :)
