Here is a thought for you to consider: Get a full size pickup to tow the trailer. I could not imagine staying at the Fort for a month without a golf cart. I would get my own. You can carry it in the pickup while towing the camper. I would get a Ford Certified used F250 with the 5.4L V-8 and the factory towing mirrors. The F 250 will be a little better for carrying the golf cart which weighs about 900 lbs. I think for extended stays for 2 people a trailer about 25 ft with a slide out would be good. Its easy to tow in traffic or in and out of gas stations etc. But its large enough that you would not feel cramped. Some travel trailers may be 7.5 feet wide but most are 8 feet. The narrower trailer is a little easier to tow in traffic. The Forrest River Rockwood trailers are nice lite weight well made and some models are 7.5 feet wide. I only buy used vehicles and campers, about 2 to 6 years old. You save several thousand bucks and its just as good as a new one. I bet that a F250 with 5.4 V-8 with a golf cart in the bed towing a lightly loaded 25 ft by 7.5 foot Rockwood at 60 mph on non mountainous roads would get about 9 to 10 mpg. My Excursion with the V-10 gas engine towing my 30 foot heavily loaded Trail-Lite in those conditions got 9.5 to 10 mpg. I got 16 mpg highway when not towing. You need to spend a lot of time inside the campers you like before you buy one. Maybe you can rent one for a week or two thats similar in size to the ones you think you like. That way you can get a better feel for its size. I know its a tough call. Bigger campers are more comfortable and maybe more enjoyable once you are set up but smaller campers are easier to tow, more fuel efficient and maybe more enjoyable when towing. In my experience, the rig I described is a good compromise for you. All manufacturers now build a light trailer line. I like the ones that have been around for a long time: Trail-Lite, Aerolite, Rockwood. One of these in a 25 ft or a Hi-Lo or a Trail Manor as mentioned before would meet your requirements. Good luck and have fun shopping.
