:scared1:My DF and I got engaged at MK in March and would love to get married there as well...but...we can't afford to do an Escape and really don't want all the extras...I want to make my own silk flowers, no music, no cake, no chmpagne, no reception...just a JP, a photographer, my son and a dinner that night at our fav restauant. Is this possible??? I also heard you can't wear you gown at the parks??? Is that true??? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Hi there! You can't wear your dress inside the park, but you can (as far as I can tell) wear them to dinner. Sadly, there really doesn't seem to be a way to do this with Disney without it being an Escape wedding. I'm not well versed in Escape wedding costs, so I have no idea how much the cheapest would be... but it is very possible to do it with just you 3.

Getting married at the Swan is cheaper then at Disney. You could get pictures there and in the Boardwalk area.

Could you even do a JP off Disney and get photos in the Boardwalk area?

I would think if you didn't have a real fancy dress you may get away with wearing it into the park. Someone posted a white dress they wore into the park and I have thought of something similar for my wedding dress.

Good luck.

:confused:Thanks for both of your reply's! I'm super bummed about the whole dress thing...I do want a real wedding gown, just simple and still with a princess feel...I think that stinks! An Escape wedding can cost around a $4000 minimum which is just out of our reach and ridiculous if you ask me...I know about the Swan too, it's just that I wanted the Disney feel of the wedding and it's just not there at the Swan...I want outside in a park even...I don't want it to feel like I'm just anywhere. Ugh! I'm so frustrated, but thanks so much for your help.

If you have a military connection to sponsor you, you might want to consider Shades of Green - it's near the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian and you could rent the gazebo & do the rest yourself. That's what we're doing, but I was lucky enough to have a retired Air Force fiance.

I definitely relate, since our big dream was to do the Disney Fairytale Wedding. The price is just too much for just us for our current financial picture. Maybe we'll manage to afford a tiny vow renewal years down the road.

I thought you didn't need to be military to have a SoG wedding?
Yep..here it is in the Passporter..you only need military ties to stay overnight

Sorry about that, Betsy - a few months ago I learned from Shades of Green that you do need a military sponsor to hold a private event at SOG. I was thinking it was too good to be true, so I checked with them again. However, the sponsor can be anyone in the military/government - it doesn't have to be a relative.

That page was updated with the correct info in the third revision of PassPorter's Disney Weddings & Honeymoons. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the clarification that it can be anyone and not just a relative! I'd also had been thinking it was too good to be true for everyone to be able to hold an event there (otherwise, they ought to be mobbed all the time), and sure enough, they asked for my sponsor when I started the reservation process. Since my fiance is military, it wasn't an issue for us. Whew.
