A Simple Guide to Making an Autograph Book

I was going to do these (I do 4x6) next weekend. :goodvibes Been doing a bunch of Star Wars ones and SW covers. Penny

Ok, so I have a couple more questions...sorry this is my first attempt at this...

1. Is there a current list of characters that I can use as a reference to use so we have most of them for all 4 parks?
I know I read we should add...
October: Rapunzel, Flynn, and Mother Gothel from the upcoming Disney Movie "Tangled" will begin apearing in the Magic Kingdom in October.

2. When you use Artscow...do you use the 5x7 size? If so, do you put one card on each page?
The glossy finish is the only one for books...does this work okay?

3. Should I just add the character dinner cards at the end?

4. What age child do you usually start using the autograph book for?
What age do you think is too young? I'm not sure if I should make one for my youngest...or if it would make a cute keepsake for her :goodvibes

Thank you!!!!

FYI http://www.kodakgallery.com has their 5x7 photo books free and 1.99 for shipping. That's for 14 pages.

I ended making my epcot passports with them. The shipped in 24 hours. I did go over the page limit and for 3 books I paid $13.00 total.

Thank you so much for sharing these offers.
I think I missed this one though...hopefully I can find another one soon ;)

I'm not sure where dibbadiane got hers, but you can get ID tags almost everywhere in the Parks. They have ID tag machines tucked into the shops where you put in your info (as much or as little as you want) and then the machine engraves it for you on the spot. We got one for our DS3 and DS6 (Tatoine Traders in HS) with their name and my cell phone number (WDW Star Wars logo on the back), and explained how they should show it to a cast member if they got separated from us. It was worth the $10 for the piece of mind! You can also order them ahead of the trip at Artscow, and they will put any image on it that you wish to provide. :goodvibes

I'm thinking about ordering these...so you just put your child's name and your cell?
Just want to make sure.....:)

1. There is a comlplete and current list of the characters that you are most likely to see in the parks on post #2 of this thread (If you scroll down a bit farther to post #13 I have them grouped by likelyhood of being seen). I have noted the characters that are coming and going and whether or not they sign. I always tell folks to add in 6 or so generic cards at the ends of their books in case some of the "rare" characters are out in the parks.

2. 5x7 is a great size for the books, using 1 card per page. Be careful, becasue some of the designs are a little larger than 5x7, but you can adjust the picture larger and smaller by using the "zoom" feature in Artscow once you place the image on a page. The glossy finish is fine. Use a Sharpie for your pen, and you won't have any problems (the retractable ones are the most convenient - you don't have to worry about holding/losing the cap).

3. Character meal cards are a MUST, and I put mine at the end of the book in order to find them quickly. If you are doing multiple character meals, you may want to make a separate small book for them. It's a bit more convenient and keeps your regular book from getting too bulky.

4. I made books for both my DS2 and DS6. My DS2 never used his, and so we ended up with only one book with autographs. If your kids are really small, I would recommend making one book as a family autograph book. (Something like "The Smith Family's Autograph Book" or "John and Mary's Autograph Book")

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I know that it's a bit tricky when you are first figuring out how to do this! :goodvibes

Yes, but both my boys know my "Grown-up" name, so I didn't think it needed to be on there. It was really just in case they got lost so that a cast member could call me. Also, since we had them made at the Parks, they made great souvenirs for the boys! :goodvibes

Another Thank you to everyone for posting about the dog tags. I'll be making a set for my DD later this week. Very, very good idea!!

As for us, our daughter was just over 2 and loved getting autographs. Anything big brother did, she had to do, too.

We are going again this December and she wants to collect and meet the characters again. Hopefully some different ones.

I posted this in an individual thread, but I wanted to put it in here, too, for all of my autograph book makers. Here is the autograph book I designed and am having printed through Artscow. The book is an 8x8, 39 pages, with cards for 78 individual characters and two pages for misc. autographs. Here is the link: http://www.artscow.com/share/Autographs-tse3vtq9pep3.

Wow! Those are great!

MusicMouse, would it be possible for you to upload your pages somewhere (such as photobucket) to share?

Thanks,

Otter

I made these pages using the free trial download of photoshop elements 8 (i've been looking into getting the program to start learning digital scrapbooking). I have been experimenting with digital scrapbooking for about 3 weeks, and this is what i created. If i can do it, so can you - so get inspired!!

I would like to thank natalie, kellybell, lisa campbell designs, scrappy dappy doo, mj-aj designs, m2 digital designs, mouse house digi scrapping, britt-ish designs, elizablake, mousescrappers, and everyone else i'm not remembering right now for their contributions. You folks do amazing work and make it easier for us beginners to get started! :goodvibes

nice work!

I'm sorry, Otter, but I can't share these pages. A lot of the elements that I used to put them together were made by designers whose Terms of Use asked that they be used for personal use only and not reposted to be shared. I credited the designers at the end of my original post, and all of the elements I used were available for free. So if you want to download them for yourself, you can make your own collaborative designs. I know it looks a little intimidating at first, but I learned it in a surprisingly short time (and I am COMPLETELY computer inept:badpc: :rotfl2:). :goodvibes

Here are the books I made using free stuff found from everywhere. KLund Designs, Kellybell, Mouse House Digi, Donatalie, and many more that I'm sure I'm forgetting. Here's the links if you want to take a look.

Can't share the Autograh books from Shutterfly, but I used autograph pages from DISigners here, so you've already seen that anyway.

MUSICMOUSE

I do recognize some of the disigns that you used but someof them I do not. Where did u get the anchor for the Donald page? and the background with the flowers for Belle?

The anchor for the Donald page came from the "Sailor" kit at Britt-ish Designs here: http://*************************.com/2010/07/im-sailing.html. The rose paper is from the mini-kit "Last Rose Petal" by Digital Blueprint here: http://digitalblueprint.blogspot.com/2010/05/may-mini-kit-last-rose-petal.html. Both were Freebies. I think you will find that once you find one design or designer that you like, they will lead you to others through their blogs. There are a surprising number of them out there! :goodvibes
