A Simple Guide to Making an Autograph Book

I have a problem with the characters, on the last time we went to WDW the characters were signing on the back of the previous page. What do you suggest how to stop that??

Thanks

With the Disney autogrpah books, the chaacters are used to signing the fronts and backs of pages to conserve space. If you have your books spiral bound, they will lay flat and then you can hand them the book already open to the exact page you want them to sign. :goodvibes

We are taking our first trip to Disney on 3/8/10 (only a few days left) and I just received the autograph book that I made in the mail today.

I purchased it through Artscow.com I think the price was decent and it is well made BUT I would mention that you need to give yourself at least two months lead time. Artscow is in Hong Kong and it takes a long time.

I thought I would share some pictures from my book and if for some reason someone wants me to forward a link to the full book I can do so. I would need to send it to your email though an artscow link ...just send me your email address through a private message and I will forward it over to you.

The book we received is 60 pages and is 5X7 I left some pages with backgrounds only for me to insert some pictures of my daughter with the characters. I plan to do that with some photo corners.

BTW - Tried to have the pics show here and was having no luck. Links are here instead.

Your pages are so cute dibbadiane - I love how you put spaces for 2 related characters to sign on the same page! Have a great trip, and be sure to tell us how your book worked out for you when you come back!! :goodvibes

How many can you put in that spiral bound thing from Kinkos??? 100? hehe!?

Vester

Yes. My books had around 130 pages (plus the covers), and the guy at Kinkos said that was about the limit. Measure your book, and if it's 1 1/2 inches or less, they can bind it. :goodvibes

Is there anyone on disboards that could help me make a cover design with my daughters name and the dates of our trip? Just curious!

Ok - so we only have a lazer b/w printer at home. I assumed I'd go to my local Kinkos and print these off. They said that the cardstock wont fit into the printers you use yourself, so they have to do it for you. FINE. Its cheaper that way anyway (.59 cents vs. .99 cents.)

Then....they found out it was Disney stuff and they wont touch it. They wont print it at all for me.

Well, I dont have a color printer, and now I dont know what to do. I really didnt want to do the "pictures" from shutterfly, etc. because I wanted the carstock because I was going to do scrapbook pages with them whatever.

HELP. Seriously - What should I do - where can I go to get these printed? Ahhh!!!

I have a couple of suggestions:

1) The 8x11 cardstock that you buy at Walmart or an office store should fit into any typical printer. Maybe you can find a friend or relative with a color printer that you can use? Also, another office suply store may be willing to print it for you. (My Kinkos had no problems printing Disney pages for my journal. :confused3)

2) Natalie has some black and white designs for autograph books here: http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r132/donatalie/Black and White Autograph Book Cards/ These actually look really cool if you print them on multiple colors of cardstock.

3) Other folks on here have printed photographs and then glued them onto cardstock with scrapbooking adhesive and had them bound. You can also just slide them into a photo album to carry them around the parks, and then you can use them in a future scrapbook by using photo corners to put them in.

Good luck! :goodvibes

If there is a specific design that you want (from someone's photobucket), you can make a request on that designer's thread. If you just have a more general idea (ie. "My daughter loves Cinderella, or Mater, or Minnie"), you can post a new thread with a request on the main page. The designers are all really good about helping out! :goodvibes

Here is my book. It was a trial run really for the boys books. The cover was by Milliepie and the pages from Donatalie. I big thank you to both of them.

I had it printed through Snapfish UK and although it is on glossy photo paper, my retractable sharpie works fine.

That looks great for it to be your first time. I think I will give this a try, very creative and would be our very own, instead of store bought. Have a Magicla Vacation, and great job on the autograph books, will the sharpie erase since the books are on glossy paper?

No, once the Sharpie dries, it doesn't come off (even on the glossy paper). :goodvibes

I think I am going to keep them loose for the park and then bound them later..

If you keep them loose and then get them bound later how would you go about getting the characters to sign them at the park. My DBF and I are going in October this year and we are making an autograph book again and we are thinking about keeping it loose while we are there (using a coupon book to keep them in) and then getting them bound when we get back. However, I am unsure of how to go about this...or it even makes sense to do this?

Any suggestions? Comments? about doing this?

A coupon book is a good idea for keeping them loose, or a photo album. If you put them in alphabetical order, they will be easier to find when you meet a character. Some folks have just hole-punched a hole in the upper left corner of their cards, put them on a ring to keep them together, and then had them bound when they get home. I actually had mine bound, did the trip, then took the binding spiral out, took out the unsigned cards, and then put the binding spiral wire back in. It wasn't hard to do, and that way the cards were all together while we were in the parks. :goodvibes
