A Shout-Out for Hojos

I know there have been some negative hotel reviews on here lately, not only for Hojos but for other hotels as well, and I think it's equally important to post about positive experiences so people can get a balanced perspective.

We stayed at Hojos Anaheim on Harbor once again from August 10-15 and had absolutely no problems. Check-in was a breeze even though I had three linked reservations due to paying for part of my stay and using Wyndham points for part of it. Staff were friendly and polite. Housekeeping did wonderfully. The family used the pool and water play area. Our needs were simple, so no other interactions came up with hotel staff.

We were there with friends who stayed in one of the highway side rooms in building one. They also didn't have complaints but did comment that those rooms look due for some updating. They were, however, satisfied with the cleanliness, spaciousness, and location of the room, and the person in the party most likely to be bothered by freeway noise came prepared and forewarned.

No single place will satisfy everyone, but for us Hojos is the place when we go to Disneyland. This was our 14th stay in the last 3 1/2 years. Fortunately any problems we have experienced during visits have been few and minor and were dealt with quickly and efficiently.

We just got back! Had another great stay at HoJo's! We were in a deluxe queen overlooking the pool! Nice! Pools were great! Room was nice and quiet too!

We, too, have loved HoJo's. I have no complaints, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't love for them to rennovate rather than redecorate. :) Glad to hear another fan!

I know Hojo's is well rated but I'm in the minority that its only a good value if you can get the AP retro rate or similar discount. Its a great hotel but the rates are steep compared to deals elsewhere. Typically I've been quoted $100-$120 almost every time I've called and asked for AP, Retro, or other discounts I'm aware of. Even though I go to DLR every month or two I'm just not lucky enough to go on the lower rate days!

If I could get Hojo's for $60-$70 I would love it! Currently we've instead chosen the Radisson near Knotts (we have car) for $70 (Hotwire) with free breakfast.

We always get some sort of discount when we stay at Hojos. Of our 14 stays, at least 9 stays we had the AP retro rate for most or all of our nights. Knowing that we are comfortable there and get a good deal so often, we don't mind paying a bit higher rate occasionally. I also book pretty far in advance (our August trip was booked in February), so that seems to help us get cheaper rates. Everybody has their own opinions on what a value is and what amenities are most important to them. We mostly stick with Hojos because it's familiar, walking distance, and usually cheaper for our dates than other hotels we have tried in the past (Candy Cane, Fairfield Inn, Tropicana). We've also recently become fond of the kid suites. For $99-$130 per night, DH and I are totally willing to put up with some highway noise and have all that space to spread out in and a separate room and bathroom for the boys. So it's true that we have become more spendy than the days when we would only consider booking the $59 retro rate.

Great to hear all this feedback! My family and I are booked into a kid suite at the HOJO for our Disneyland vacation in October. Seems like great value and the reviews sound positive to me. Sounds like we should bring a white noise machine for the highway noise, but I can handle that!!

we will be staying there in November , it will be our 5th time there. I love the hojo, but wouldnt stay without the ent rate. If I have to pay more I want to be closer or get breaksfast included. I have always felt safe there just me and my sons and the rooms are always clean.

So excited to see positive review - 53 days and counting :cool1: :dance3:

Wonder if with HoJo, booking early makes a big difference. This will be our first stay - booked via AAA for $70 per night, but we booked in January for October stay. Just checked AAA sight for HoJo and it says SOLD OUT. :confused3

Definitely, if you want the retro rates, booking early is required. I booked in January for our November dates. At the time, there were dozens and dozens of days available throughout the year at the retro rate. Their current calendar shows exactly 8 retro dates left. Our dates are no longer available at retro rates, though someone could pay full rack rate if they wanted to.

We r staying at the Disneyland hotel for the marathon and then finish our trip at HOJOs for a few days. I hope we dont run into any problems like we have the last couple times we stayed there

Thats too steep for us but I agree, everyone has their own budget and whats important for them. Also seems like a long walk after a full day in the parks!

We really love the Radisson by Knotts. Very large two room suite and a free hot breakfast. Its downfall is that its 5 miles away. No problem for us as we have a car and free parking at hotel and Disney (AP). Never paid more than $70.

Exactly! Just like I usually find on-site too much to contemplate, but others will do Disney no other way! We have done parking and ART and have decided for our family that we absolutely prefer walking distance. 10 minutes in the morning, 12 minutes later in the day when we're tired, but absolutely no problem for us. My family is full of cereal eaters, so breakfast is unimportant to us. We used to be much more frugal about hotel rooms, but with one DS who grinds his teeth and one DS who moves constantly while asleep, and with the whole family's propensity to take 3 hour afternoon breaks and not want to be driving each other up the walls, the suite has seemed like a bargain lately.

This is a question for anyone who has stayed at HOJO. I found this hotel when I was researching a hotel for a potential trip last year (that we didn't take)for my family. Well this year my kids (they are old enough to stay home alone) don't want to come with us on this trip. I found a great ent rate for a Disney view room of $79 nite that I couldn't resist. Since its just DH(55) & me(a very young 50 lol), will I regret staying at a hotel with so many kids??? Our trip in in October and we only have 4 full days- so I don't plan on pools and stuff.

What do you think??? Will 2 adults be happy here??

My DH and I have stayed there w/o kids before and it's just as good. I don't think there is any difference. :goodvibes

We haven't stayed without kids but would if we could. My parents (early 60s) stayed there two years ago on a trip without kids or grandkids and had no complaints about noise or anything, and my dad will complain to us when he has encountered unruly children or annoying hotel noise.

GREAT!!! That's what I was hoping for. 2 months and counting!!!!:cheer2:

Glad to hear. We leave in 3 weeks and are staying there as part of a family vacation. There is a total of 6 families (all my husbands brother/sisters & their families).

We have been to Disney before, but for many coming with us, this is their first time. I have been nervous that they will not be happy. I booked the hotels for everyone and got it @ $75/night.

We have the bldg 1 freeway facing rooms... Hope we like them.
