My brother is turning 50 in Sept and his wife, who doesnt like me anymore than I like her, is planning a HUGE surprise party for him and didnt invite me! They live out of town so I wouldnt have even known this neccesarily except she invited my other brother and his wife who, of course, called me to see if I wanted to fly down with them. I am sooooooooo angry and hurt that she didnt invite me since the party is SUPPOSED to be about my brother (not her )and we get along great. Thanks for listening :)

How incredibly rude of her! I'm sorry your feelings were hurt.

Call your brother and tell him you're sorry you won't be able to attend... ;)

How very sad for you and your brother that you don't get along. I would be very hurt by your SIL's behaviour.:( Actually, my brother was mean to me all my life, I never figured out what his problem was. And my oldest sister was mean to me. Only 1 sis is nice. Family...it's not always what it's cracked up to be, I guess.

Maybe you'll get a good solution from the DIS posters.:D

that really is sad :(
some people can be so vengeful.....I am sorry

So sorry that your feelings have been hurt. It is wrong of SIL to be so childish.

So sorry your feelings where hurt, mine would be to. It's very chilish of your SIL. Hope thing work out for you.

Thanks for the replies, I did actually think of sending a card and say in it "sorry I wont be at your party" but I want him to have a nice bday (50 after all :) ). I will see them at my nephews wedding shortly and just hope we arent sitting at the same table. The sad thing is that my other brother and his wife arent going cause I'm not going. Noone in the family really likes her and this kind of confirms everyones opinion of her-- but I am still hurt.

And how is your brother going to feel when he learns that his wife didn't invite his sister to his 50th birthday party? I'm sure that this will be revealed.

All the best to you and your brother. My family has some pretty dreadful members too!

I would go to the party with your other brother and if your SIL says anything just reply, "Oh, I just figured that my invitation got lost in the mail. I'm sure you wouldn't have wanted my to miss my brother's birthday...."

I would take a different track. I WOULD GO!! Show up, even though you weren't invited. Arrive with your brother and his wife and say something to the effect of, " I guess my invitation got lost in the mail". ;)

LOL, Seashelly! You and I posted the same thought at the same time!!!:p

I would go, too. I think your brother would want you there and your presence would make HIS celebration all the merrier!

{{{HUGS}}}

Now theres an idea!!! Great idea, I'm going to call my brother now!!! (non bday brother)

I'd go......dressed to kill......looking FABULOUS! Hug your brother- and then give her a big smooch and a grizzly bear hug and tell her how touched you were by the invitation and the follow up phone call to be sure you could attend- she's the most thoughtful and unselfish person you know...... how lucky she married into the family. She'll be too confused to enjoy the rest of the party!;)

Soryy to hear that, wheatenwalker. {Hugs} I think I would just show up also. :sunny:

So many great ideas I just don't know where to start.

Have a party in your area and invite her. Then seat her with your obnoxius neighbors (if you have any)

Send a huge fruit and cheese basket to your brother and sign it " With Love from the Sister who wasn't invited to the party".

Make sure when Cruella the SIL turns 50 you make a really nice and big ad in a local newspaper.
Oh the list would go on and on.............

Steve

I like Fireplug's idea of the ad in the paper when your SIL turns 50. And it would be such a SHAME if it was a misprint and said 60 instead of 50!
