Well, here's the story. DH and I just came back from our Disneymoon about a month ago, it would our 3rd trip to the world. We have felt at this point that we have seen and done everything that we have thought of doing... well, maybe not everything.

Anyway, here's what we are considering... and I am wondering if anyone else has done this??? :wizard: We are thinking of going down for two or three days. Yes, just for the weekend.

True, we are from Toronto... the trip is long. But, we don't have much money at this point, we're paying bills and trying to save for other things, and we are also all out of most of our vacation time at work. However, I NEED some Disney magic.

Has anyone just gone for a nite? For a weekend? For one park? Just get a little taste of magic???

We were thinking of going for the Pirate and Princess Party, Typhoon Lagoon, afternoon tea at the GF and staying at the WL for two nites.

Just to wet our whistle... what are your opinions??? :confused3

If money is tight, you might want to consider flying out of Buffalo.
If you can go off peak, at short notice....even better (chances of getting a SWA Ding are better). So, if succesful you could put the airline savings to good use by getting better accomodation (we are talking about a savings of $300-400).Sure, you do have the expense of parking and driving down to Buffalo....but its still a good deal.
I haven't personally taken a short trip but ,if you can get the SWA early morning non stop to MCO and the later evening flight home, you will be taking full advantage of the short time.
By the way, for what its worth,it doesn't matter if its 2 days or 2 weeks ...you never get bored heading down to WDW....IMHO :thumbsup2

We've always flown out of Buffalo, luckily, we need to drop off my dog at the inlaws who live right in between Toronto and Buffalo!

Our last flight with SWA cost only $212 for both of us, both ways... it also helps to rent points at a WDW resort.

Well, we're leaving in 12 hours for that very thing! Dh and I needed a little holiday, just the 2 of us. We were just there in April with the whole family for 3 nights on the same package that's just been offered for Jan 2007, and lucky me I thought ahead and bumped up the tickets to 10 day non-expiring, justifying it that we'd then have our tickets for the planned 2010 trip. Hehe, I knew they'd burn a hole in my pocket and make it so much easier to skip down for little trips in between!!! Park tickets seem to make up such a bulk of the budget that when you already have them, the trip seems pretty cheap (well, kinda).

So, we're leaving Connor with Grandma, heading to Buffalo tomorrow am, doing some xmas shopping, staying at the Sleep Inn by the airport and flying in Tues am for 3 nights. We rented points from a DVC member and we're staying at OKW for cheaper than what it would have cost at a value resort! We're going to MNSSHP the first night, so bought the tickets for that, and we're only planning to go to Epcot on Thursday. Lazy day shopping and dining on Wed and Friday morning before catching our flight home Friday afternoon. So we're actually only using 1 day of our tickets, leaving us with 6 park days and all the plusses left (used 3 in April).

Neither one of us had holidays this week (we both work 4 on, 4 off), so dh took one day (and a few hours tonight) off, and I took 2 nights off and it works perfectly!

Hehe, I'm already pricing a 4 day land/4 day sea trip in December 07 or January 08. I figure with airfare and food we can do that for around $3000 for the 3 of us, and I already have $650 put away. I have the feeling these tickets will be long used by the 2010 trip (our 10th anniversary).

I always like to be planning the next trip before we get back from this one...what dh doesn't know won't hurt him!!!

DD and I went last March for a short trip. We flew down Mon morning from Buffalo and back Thurs morning. We went to all four parks and rode all the rides and had two nice dinners. We used left over SW credits for our flights and airmiles for one park pass. We had a super time. Enjoy yourselves!!

Go for it! DH and I flew down for a weekend last December. We got the very early flight out of Buffalo on the Thurs morning, and flew home Sunday around noon. We got 3 very good days in the parks, saw lots of the Christmas stuff, and really just enjoyed a few days at our favourite place without the kids ... made us realize that we'll still love it even after the kids have grown up. :teeth: Our flights on SWA were $192 total return for the 2 of us, stayed 3 nights at ASMu at $208, so $400 US total. We already had AP's so our only other expense was food and Candlelight Processional. We couldn't have gone to a hotel in Niagara for 3 nights for what it cost us to go to Disney. We chatted with many people over those 3 days, and no one thought we were totally nuts for going all that way for a weekend. Much closer and cheaper than flying to Vegas for a weekend.

Do things like this now ... there's always going to be "other" things to spend money on as the years go by ... new house/car/kids/daycare.

Enjoy ... and let us know what you decide to book.
